Any suggestions for size? I recently bought a 34G bra too but again too small (the top of the cup leaves imprints on my breasts) - I guess a RL fitting is in order Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 20:04

Sorry that was a bit of a speed post. I think we should maybe ignore the nursing bra as their fit can be a bit different.

The 32J is massive - but the 34g (which would be the same cup as a 32GG) is too small. So, that leaves us with a 32H/HH in between. So, which feels closer cup wise - the 34g or the 32J?

OP posts:
Itsmynamechange · 05/03/2013 20:09

That's okay, just feeling a little inadequate compared to the JJs! The 34G was definitely the closest fit - I wore it out today but there is no way I could have worn the 32J out!

So I guess that leaves me looking at 32H's?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 20:11

I would start with trying some 32Hs...you will probably find you vary a bit between bras but that's sounding like the right territory

determinedma · 05/03/2013 20:44

Posted on other thread but in case o get missed my stats are 35 under and 42 over I think. Desperate for a bra that fits. Currently wear versions of 36/38 c/d and none of them fit properly

AnyFucker · 05/03/2013 20:49

Anybody else got experience of this ?

I tried the exact same bra in a different colour but it didn't fit at all. The band size was too tight really, and a cup size up fitted better. Same bra, same range, same make just different colour! What is athat all about ?

Also, you know when you buy a bra you fit it so it is snug on the loosest setting with the view that you will use a tighter setting as it "gives" with wear. Well, I never do, I always have the band on the loosest notch. Am I buying a band size too small, or is that normal ? At least 2 sets of hooks never get used !

cowmop · 05/03/2013 20:58

As my youngest dd says "you have very small booby bumps Mummy." She is unfortunately accurate.

Could you tell me what size I should be wearing with measurements of 32 and 35 ?

AnyFucker · 05/03/2013 21:01

32C

BabyLabyrinth · 05/03/2013 21:01

Can I ask for some help, too, please?

M&S measured me as 36DD last year during pregnancy, but persuaded me to buy 38D nursing bras, as I was bound to get bigger. I was slightly devastated (especially at how they looked) but was convinced that was right. I've worn these bloody things for over a year now, and my boobs are saggy and droopy not helped by a total milk monster still guzzling every three hours at 10mo and I am so Angry with M&S!

Anyway, took my measurements and I'm 32/40, although I think I could possibly pull the tape a bit tighter round my underbust, and when I haven't just fed DD my bust might be a little bigger.

I ordered two Panache bras in 32FF from Brastop last week, and they are so much better than the slop I've been wearing up to now. But actually, I think they don't fit quite as perfectly as I'd hoped. The band feels better on the tightest hook, and then when I scoop vigorously as directed, I think I'm getting a bit of quadraboob. At first I thought I probably needed 30FF, but should I try 30G instead/as well? I've ordered a load of nursing bras from Debenhams in 32FF - are they all going to be useless? Or are nursing bras a bit different?

Thanks so much for any help. You guys are brilliant for helping everyone out like this. I have become totally bra-obsessed and am trying to persuade everyone to remeasure! (And have FB-shared and tweeted, too.)

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 21:32

Anyfucker black bra by any chance?

Babylabyrinth A 30G is the same cup size as a 32FF. So, if the 32FF is giving quad boob you need a bigger cup. And a smaller band - so try a 30GG :)

cowmop · 05/03/2013 21:36

Anyfucker was the 32C to me? If so thank you!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/03/2013 21:38

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but any suggestions for large women? I have always just bought the largest bra I could find, but doing the measurements it is gulp 46 and 56, so I think that makes me 46GG? Not sure where to find such an enormous bra Blush

BabyLabyrinth · 05/03/2013 21:41

Oh god! Even with my measurements?! Well, I trust you. Thanks Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 21:44

The measurements are only ever a starting point BabyLab - if the 32 feels too big then trust your judgement.

MadamGazelle - what size are you wearing just now (particularly interested in the back size) - reason I ask is that it is very common for larger ladies to need a back size which is actually smaller than they measure. There's a good article about it, I will try to find :)

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 05/03/2013 21:46

yes, cowmop, I think you should start with a 32C

Baby, sorry, wasn't ignoring you, am not too good with the larger measurements/bf'ing combo

Stat...yes, it was a black bra. Why is this ? It doesn't make sense. A cream 32D fits me perfectly. A black 32DD (I tried that because there wasn't a black 32D, and it seems the advice is always to err on the side of a bigger cup IYSWIM) was so tight it hurt and I couldn't breathe but the cups fitted me even better.

If it hadn't nearly asphyxiated me, I would have bought it, because it made my boobs look great Smile

Confused Confused

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/03/2013 21:48

I don't actually know Blush I stopped breastfeeding DC2 a few weeks ago. Nursing bras are the most comfy. Other bras probably range from 40-44 and E-F. None of which I would say is right, really. Am so grateful for any help. This thread is amazing!

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 21:53

There is an issue with the dye in black bras that makes them tighter.

Madam - I would say those cup sizes are all too small. Could you possibly grab some of those bras and test the backs? To do this, put them on back to front and see which feels nice and snug and can't be pulled out more than a couple of inches. If we can work out the band we'll figure the cup from there, but the cups are too small so you won't be able to tell how the back fits with them on the right way round :)

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 05/03/2013 21:57

Black dye makes them tighter? How bloody stupid. The whole fit was different, everything.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/03/2013 21:58

The 42 felt the best by your description but that is the bra that digs in and hurts the most when I wear it. Is that a fault in the cup size, or better to go a bit bigger?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 22:06

That's a cup size issue. In a 42 back, you will probably be looking at around a J cup. Have a look at Leia, Brastop, figleaves etc and I will have a wee hunt too

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/03/2013 22:07

Thank you so much. Will give those a go and report back.

Lueji · 05/03/2013 22:08

Reporting back from a lovely, but expensive, lingerie shop and the only I could find in this country that does larger sizes in small bands.
Most bras that fit well were 30DD and also bought a 30E. Shock

My underboob measurent is 28, but I have virtually no fat.
