They're all German and don't really speak much English (I'm in Germany), but I intend to show them your blog and some of the others I've found to prove our point!

AnyFucker & Beskybob, yes yes, I am the same! The lady who measured me in HOF said that I was 'flat and wide' Grin. When I told my friends the size she put me in they laughed and said it wasn't possible that I was a C cup as I was so small chested. Then when I showed them that the cup was actually smaller than my old 34AA's they couldn't believe it! And now I am going to try some D cups!

Velve · 06/03/2013 16:44

Hey ladies!
Give me your favourite sports bras! I am currently getting by with a bra that's two cup sizes two small! Shock
I love the Shock Absorber Max, it's so comfy and my boobs never ache after bouncing around.
I normally wear two sports bras at the same time to minimize bounce, though, my girls like to jump around!! I also found that, even though everyone says sports bras have tighter backs, in my normal size the back stretches too much too quickly.
I also have a Panache Sport underwired one, which, although looks really nice doesn't really do anything to hold the girls down. (Anyone want a barely used 30FF sports bra??)
Are the freya ones any good? Freya are big in the back so would probably go for a 28 rather than 30?

AnyFucker · 06/03/2013 16:50

Beksy/toffee, my measurements are 31.5 pulled tight underband and 36 overboob.

I have chucked all my old 34B's away. They never fitted me in the first place.

I always thought I had crap boobs, and they are not great without a bra (40's and two kids, ballooned up to a H cup while breastfeeding Shock ) but they look a thousand times better with a well fitting bra

I am currently managing with 2 new bra's (one to wear, one to wash, identical) as have tried dozens on and struggling to get it completely right apart from these.

I am wearing a push up balconette bra from M+S here . Despite their crapness at fitting the correct size, the bras they stock are fine for smaller sizes. It felt tight at first, but is great now.

I tried to buy the black this week, but it fitted completely differently to the vintage cream. Interestingly, the younger M+S fitter that I was moaning to seemed to be better at what she was talking about and said "no way are you a 34, try a bigger cupsize" whereas fitters before have tried to push me into 34's and even 36A !! I am a straight up and down but broad shouldered size 10...no way am I a 36 bra !

Apparently though, black bras are notorious for fitting differently (the black isn't online, btw but it is lovely and the cream pic doesn't do it justice at all either)

Anyway, when I get some time off work, I am going to have a visit to Bravissimo and get properly kitted out. I had a couple of mail order disasters that had to go back.

I suspect if I get the right style of bra, I will end up a DD in some.

AgathaF · 06/03/2013 17:22

Velve I have just bought this and wore it to a cardio pilates class this week - lots of jumping around - and it was very, very supportive. I had to go up a band size but kept the same cup size.

I also tried this Freya which was a very poor fit and didn't feel as though it would be supportive, and this Shock Absorber which even going up a band size and a cup size was too small and didn't stop the bounce when I jumped.

CelticPromise · 06/03/2013 17:38

Velve more than anything I think it's down to personal taste and trial and error, I am large and bouncy of bosom and I find the Panache excellent even for high impact. Have you tried using the racer back clips? Gives a bit more support.

I find the Freya not supportive enough for high impact, but others on here swear by it.

I've also found the Enell to be good, I'm not sure how well it would fit smaller backs though, and it ain't pretty!

HazleNutt · 06/03/2013 18:26

velve I do a lot of jumping around and while the Max support top is good, I prefer this: www.brastop.com/SetDetails.aspx?setId=4570&Product=Shock_Absorber_Ultimate_Run_Bra_Black

Also runs small, I always go up a back size.

BabyLabyrinth · 06/03/2013 18:57

Thanks, Lueji! I'll give it a go.

marriednotdead · 06/03/2013 19:19

SPORTS BRAS

Underwired ones work by encapsulating your breasts into individual pockets and then using the rest of the bra structure to hold the pocketed boobs in place. Usually better for firm/bouncy/unruly breasts!
Good ones I've found include the Panache which fits to size up to a H cup, and the Bravissimo Inspire which goes up to a (small) K. The band is also quite tight.
Elomi Energise (sp?) is also a good one and goes to a J in some bands but they start at a 34.

Non wired ones work by compression, squashing the breasts closely to the body to minimize bounce. Good for average/softer breasts.
IME the best ones I've found are the Shock Absorber Run and D+ Max. Very tight- go up a band.

Test by jumping up and down!

For very big or full boobs (J+) if nothing else seems firm enough, it's sometimes more comfortable to wear a wired bra (maybe an old one) to encapsulate the boobs and then put a Royce High Impact sports bra on top.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 06/03/2013 19:54

Stat just wanted to say thank you. Went and got a couple of new bras today. Went to Evans as was on the high street. Have a couple of 44Hs. I dont think it is perfect yet, but it is already so much better. My boobs look and feel so much better and I have chucked all the old ones away. Think I need to keep shopping for the perfect fit, but the improvement already is incredible. Thanks

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:11

Well, SOMEBODY HAS NOTICED I'M WEARING A NEW BRA!!!! :)

Funniest thing - it was my Nan Grin

I asked her if she had heard about my new bras from my mum, and she said no. So I asked her if she'd noticed a difference.

She said she wouldn't have said anything (she's far too polite for that), but noticed straight away I looked "very busty" and that also I looked really slim :) That it had changed my figure and she was really impressed, that I looked more in proportion.

I love you guys Thanks

So I showed her my bra and she thought it was fab (I've gone from a 38B to a 36DD - but I've found that I probably really need a 34).

So nan will be measuring herself and I'm going to help her find better bras, she said she wants her clothes to look nice.

She has a breast lump removed a few years ago so she has a scar and she feels a bit lopsided, so it will really help her if she can get something to fit.

She's been buying bras and returning them for a while as they aren't right. She wants a bit of padding and maybe something where she can add a little extra shape on the one side.

Any suggestions for the type of bra I might be looking at for her please?

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:14

In other news, my mum has measured herself (in centimetres though) and she's 79cm under, 84cm over.

I make that 31/ 33.

She's been wearing a 36C!!!!!

She's very slim, not squidgy of back at all. Should she try a 30B or a 32B? I think a 30 might be too tight for her.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/03/2013 20:18

Toothgah, once she has her size worked out it could be worth trying Ewa. They might be too "young" for her but they have a few(e.g. the PL Lilia) which have a little pocket in them and removable pads to correct asymmetry

Re your mum - I'm not sure of that top measurement. A 36c is designed for someone measuring around 39" and I can't help thinking she would have noticed how wrong that was. She should be gaping massively in it? Do you know if she did the leaning forward thing?

OP posts:
EMUZ · 06/03/2013 20:20

Toothgah on a mission Grin
I'm going to start accosting random people

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:21

Yup, that measurement is right - I actually predicted she'd be 28/30 if she measured herself, so I was a little out.

So 30B? Or 32B?

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:22

Oh and thanks for the advice for my nan, much appreciated. I do have some pads/gels that she could borrow but a bra with a little pocket would be brilliant for her.

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:24

And yes DM did the leaning forward thing :)

She's really slim and I don't think she'd be above a B cup. She was buying moulded bras to give her shape but of course they would have been hugely too big around her back.

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:26

EMUZ - I've told everybody at work Grin And the lady at the checkout in Asda Grin

thekingfisher · 06/03/2013 20:26

can you help me?

30inches underbust
37.5 overbust thing???

ideas am wearing a playtex 34D at the moment which I would say is my best fitting bra currently!

lemontwist · 06/03/2013 20:27

Well I went shopping this morning all excited about trying out some bras in my new size (28FF) and came back very dissapointed Sad
There was not a bra in the whole town in that size. Not a jot.
To be fair we don't have a great selection of shops (debenhams, m&s, next, tk maxx...um thats it) but I thought I might find something. Nothing even in a 30F. Nearest I found was a 32DD and when I asked in a couple of shops they looked at me like I had two heads.
Currently looking online. Any ideas where to look without spending too much?

marriednotdead · 06/03/2013 20:27

ToothGah
Your nan might find the Panache Porcelain balconette a good option unless she has narrow shoulders. She may not need to pad her smaller side, try different styles first.

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:28

Oh I can do this now!

thekingfisher - I think you're a 30GG (am I right Stat???) Grin

ToothGah · 06/03/2013 20:29

Thanks marriednotdead that's really helpful. I don't think she's got particularly narrow shoulders so will definitely look a that one.

thekingfisher · 06/03/2013 20:30

seriously????????

thekingfisher · 06/03/2013 20:32

what if I was 30.5 and 36.5 ....not sure how tight I should be pulling...?
