We filled a thread, so here's another!

Celtic It's a Shock Absorber. Marvelous, it is :)

zgaze · 05/03/2013 12:35

Can you do me please? I'm 32 - 46 Shock Is that even physically possible? I've been breastfeedimg constantly since Sept 09 which doesn't help. Currently wearing 34K nursing bras from Bravissimo - don't find them terribly flattering (think lifesize traffic cones) though they are quite comfortable.

SorrelForbes · 05/03/2013 12:55

Try a 32JJ and similar cup sizes.

blibblibs · 05/03/2013 13:10

Well I've been shopping again. I'm getting a bit obsessed with Bras at the moment Grin
Took some not great fitting 32F back to Next (ordered online) and they had nothing bigger than a 32C in the store. No 28s or 30s - I looked.
Its a retail park so only other option was Sainsburys - was there a very long time! Just for research purposes - no 28s at all. A 30a & 30b....one in each size!
32DD was the biggest I could find. Better selection in 34, found some that went up to 34G.

Thought I would give the 34E a try, just on the off chance and because it was quite a nice bra, but not not a chance. Band was far too big, I wonder if they come up quite big, because it really was massive or if after one day in a 32 I've realised how bad a badly fitting band is Smile
Looks like it will have to be on line ordering for me for just now because 32F/FF just don't seem to be in shops Sad

A slightly sideways question for us large of nork ladies - has anyone ever tried any of the Pepperberry brand clothes from bravisimo? I can generally take a size 12ish on the high street for under bust, waist, and hips, but often end up with a 16 in tops & dresses to get them round my boobs! Do they run true to size or a bit small do you think, after taking account of the bust adaptations?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 13:19

I have a few pepperberry, just choose wisely. Their shirts are v good as are some dresses. I have the black ponte dress and it's very flattering.

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 13:22

Should say- I struggle because my ass is as wide as my boobs, I'm just narrower in the middle. In something with a loose skirt part I wear a 12sc, same with shirts, but their pencil dresses are too slim hipped for me.

Hey all, may I have some help please?

Have just recevied the first lot of my new bras, 34FF and 36F, and I can't work out what to do with them.

All the 34s are very tight, but I can get two fingers, and no more, inside the band when they're on back to front. I'm wondering if the tightness is just because I'm not used? One of the 34s (Gossard) is just way too uncomfortable and I'm sending it back, tooooooo tight! The 36s feel more comfy, but again, maybe that's just because I have been used to wearing a 38 for years. I can get three fingers in the band when wearing it back to front.

Now the cup size. The 36F cup is way to flappy. The 34FF is slightly flappy at the top of the cup. Does this mean I need to go down a cup, a 34E? or 36EE? I can't work out what to do!

HazleNutt · 05/03/2013 13:54

I've found Pepperberry quite generous. But not too impressed with the clothing, it looks great on their skinny models, but frumpy even on size 10-12. I generally find their dresses and shirts too short, even though I'm just average height, and often too low cut for work. Some things have been ok though.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 14:02

Lookout, the 34ff should be same cup as the 36f. It is slightly gaping maybe try a 34f which is one cup down. It may also not be the best shape for you

OP posts:
lookout · 05/03/2013 14:10

SC, I've got several 34FFs and they all do the same gaping thing. Perhaps I'll send them back and try a 34F. Thanks.

NomDeOrdinateur · 05/03/2013 14:12

Hi again - following Snatch's recommendation yesterday, I've decided to go to a shop where I can try on some 28HH/J bras (hopefully somewhere with an assistant who will be honest and capable of assessing which styles "work" on me and which don't). However, I have no idea where I should go to find a range of styles in those sizes and an appropriate fitter so, if possible, please may somebody recommend a suitable shop near Birmingham or Southampton?

peppersaunt · 05/03/2013 14:23

Just got back from Rigby & Peller. Thanks to SC I was willing to try 32D rather than insisting in the usual 36B. Must get used to tightness of band but already feel more "secure"!

Beksybob · 05/03/2013 14:42

My colleague just offered me her 13 yr old daughter's bras that she has grown out of. Hmm I know she was trying to be nice, but...

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 14:45

Beksy more worryingly...what size is the 13 year old in? Plz not another teen in a 36!

OP posts:
Beksybob · 05/03/2013 15:03

30B. So not quite that bad, but I don't think she would even be a 30.

GoingVerySlowlyMad · 05/03/2013 15:38

My 2 Panache bras arrived today and I finally have success! Got the Ariza and the Fern style balconnets and they both are a really good fit and whilst I feel a bit restricted they aren't uncomy and the fit at the underarm is better. Have some Cleo's and a Fantasie on the way too!

MurderOfGoths · 05/03/2013 16:58

I have a confession to make, I didn't believe you ladies when you said to try a 34F or G, I thought there was no way I could have been wearing a D cup when I was actually an F or G.

So I went out and tried on some bras, and am now totally converted to wearing 34G! Can't believe I've been going so so wrong!

meddie · 05/03/2013 17:31

Another one who decided on reading this thread to give Bravissimo a whirl. My 34DD are actually a 34 F/FF I have never felt soooo comfy. thank you for the kick in the pants to get this sorted. I took my daughter too and she is a 34 F/FF not the 36D she had been squishing into. So we are boob twins.
I love this thread, but my bank account doesn't...

blibblibs · 05/03/2013 17:45

Not sure if anyone else has said futher up thread but Debenhams have 20% off at the moment with free delivery and if you use code GV66 you get another 10% off.
Hopefully some of what I ordered will fit Smile

Velve · 05/03/2013 18:05

I'll post this here as I think it went unnoticed on the Better Bra thread:

Calling all Curvy Kate experienced
I ordered a Curvy Kate Lottie in 28GG. I normally hover between 30G and 28GG depending on brand.
Now, I read that CK run large in the back and small in the cup so I thought better get 28GG. Tried it on and while the wires are exactly and comfortably where they ought to be the back still feels huge and I can pull it away quite a bit. Shock
There's a tiny bit of gaping at the top of the cup where the floral embroidery is but I don't know whether that's just due to the embroidery. I could see a smaller cup would be too small. Normally this shape of bra is the best for me.

So, sending this one back, but before I do I wanted your help in deciding whether to go for a different CK (or are they all pretty much like this?) or something else like Freya or Fantasie?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 18:19

Sorry only just on. I haven;t tried the Lottie but I do find CK big in the back. I also find Freya quite big - you'd probably need a 28 in those, and I suspect a Fantasie 30 would be too big. You might got on with Cleo or the Bravissimo own brand.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/03/2013 18:20

MurderofGoths don't worry, we're used to it. We're probably contradicting pretty much everything you've ever been told about bra fitting!

SarkyPants · 05/03/2013 18:50

Hello all.
I feel the need to report back from my trip to the marvellous bravissimo.

I am now up one cup size to 32J. Which means I have had to spend stupid sums of money there on their Alana in various shades.

Slightly disappointed to have to stick to the same style that I've been in for years but nothing else came close to fitting my shape.

I'm also most impressed by the shock absorber sports bra. I had to switch to a 34hh as they don't go up to j's.

Itsmynamechange · 05/03/2013 19:04

I ordered a Panache Fiesta bra in a 32J (I am 33/46) but the bra is MASSIVE on me way, way bigger than my Panache nursing bra in a 32HH which is too small in the cup.

Unfortunately I also ordered two other bras both in a 32JJ thinking a J might be a bit small if an HH is causing 4-boobs but they are even more massive to the point I can fold the cups up whilst I am wearing them. I can't even scoop as the underwires are so far round my back there is nothing to scoop into the cups bar my shoulder blades. Plus one I can do up on the tightest hooks straight out the pack Hmm Can't really send them back though as they were BN but in ebay....
