We filled a thread, so here's another!

I bought a new bra this weekend and realised that there is definite variation in the same sizes of bra. Presumably this is less likely to happen with a quality brand. I tried on a 34DD bra in Debenhams of the same style but 2 different colours. In one the band was very tight, but in the other it fitted perfectly.

WednesdayNext · 03/03/2013 22:10

Statistically I'll email you some photos if you let me have the address. So long as my head's chopped off

PipAndPosyAgainTonight · 03/03/2013 22:13

I think I need help too, please! I was measured at M&S a couple of years ago and I wear 34D, but my measurements are 31/38 so that doesn't sound right. I tried scooping this morning and had definite four boob effect and I can easily pull the band out a long way at the back. What should I be trying? Thanks.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/03/2013 22:13

bubbles was one black? Black bras quite often come up slightly smaller, something to do with the dye.

PipAndPosy - try a 30FF, 30F, 32F, 32E. 30 is more likely

I've just remembered that I got myself measured in Debenhams nearly six years ago (when I was two stone lighter than I am now) and the girl told me I was a 38B (which is what I've been wearing ever since).

I reckon I would have been a 32C/D then!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/03/2013 22:16

Debenhams are definitely setting themselves up for a review!

PipAndPosyAgainTonight · 03/03/2013 22:17

Thank you so much, I will go trying on next weekend when I can get somewhere with a decent selection of shops. And glower at my current underwear drawer until then!

ToothGah · 03/03/2013 22:21

The girl was rubbish at measuring tbh, she was only young and just looked embarrassed. Then she didn't even bring me any bras, just told me not to hold too much stock in the measurements as all bra brands differed in size.

Now I know they can vary depending on style/make, but she was just bloody unhelpful.

I'd be well up for going somewhere for a fitting if that helps you. I'm in Worcestershire.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/03/2013 22:23

That would be very useful ToothGah - whilst I will terrorise them anyway I am "sized out" of some shops (like La Senza) so fitting reviews would be fairer if there was someone who was in the range!

statistically Yes one was black! The things you learn on here- thanks for that.

MrsKeithRichards · 03/03/2013 22:57

Today is the first day I can remember that I haven't fiddled with my bra all day. It's so comfy. I'm wearing 36f but thinking I could go up a cup because if I scoop vigorously there's a tiny bulge. Would I adjust the back size?

MurderOfGoths · 03/03/2013 23:00

Yeah it was Debenhams who wanted to put me in a 38DD Confused

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/03/2013 23:06

MrsKeithRichards, if it is just the bulge then try just adjusting the cup. How does the back feel?

OP posts:
MurderOfGoths · 03/03/2013 23:10

Oh btw, don't know if anyone has mentioned but Tescos now stock bigger cup sizes! Was quite impressed to see that

EMUZ · 03/03/2013 23:19

I am on here in a floral Freya bra (bad fit) and a purple (I think) floral Panache bra (good fit)

FierceBadIggi · 03/03/2013 23:25

Sparkle, thanks for tip re Debenhams sale. Amazingly have got several J cup bras now winging their way to me for not too much dosh!

WanderingStar1 · 04/03/2013 00:24

I am 30 under and 39 over, but have a rather fat squodgy back and smallish droopy boobs. Currently in 34B/36As mostly, but smaller ones make my back bulge around the strap so not sure I would cope with a 30 bra? And what cup size would I be?

EMUZ · 04/03/2013 00:57

Wandering - try a 30G, 30GG

EMUZ · 04/03/2013 00:58

And I've posted on the bra campaign thread some bras I have spare Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 08:01

wandering, I can promise you that the back fat gets better in a smaller band - not worse. I think I will need to take a rear view shot of a bra that fits me vs one that doesn't but it's astonishing.

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/03/2013 10:14

Right, I have my tape measure. Just going to read everything.

MrsKeithRichards · 04/03/2013 10:16

The back feels fantasic. I'm a size 18, I didn't think a 36 back would touch me but it's so comfortable.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/03/2013 10:23

Am waiting in for UPS, and did have a vision just then of them turning up as I stand there topless with nothing but my tape measure.

But they didn't.
Fortunately Grin

I am 34 under and 38 over, and the bra I am wearing is a 34B, is that right?

Bless you for being the Advisory service!

SorrelForbes · 04/03/2013 10:49

Wish those measurements I'd suggest a 34D
