We filled a thread, so here's another!

Please do me!
I measure 29/36 and have been wearing 34C for what feels like forever ( measured by Debenhams last I believe)
Thank you for spending all this time sorting out all us clueless ladies!

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 11:11

lemontwist try a 28FF for starters. Most people in between back sizes seem to get better support in the smaller band.

lemontwist · 04/03/2013 11:15

Thank you celtic. Can't wait to go shopping and try some out!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/03/2013 12:00

SC, yy please to pics of back fat in bigger bands! It sounds so counter-intuitive. I'll happily take pics of myself (headless) in bras if my 28HH fits.

Flyingfruit · 04/03/2013 12:35

So I got measured in Leia yesterday. They measured me at 36FF I wasn't sure cos the band kept creasing up so she also tried 38F which felt better. I can't quite get my head round it. I've never been in a cup size any bigger than a C before and know so many people with much bigger breasts than me that are in smaller cup sizes. Bloody m&s!

AgathaF · 04/03/2013 12:43

RatherBeOnThePiste - I think that should be 34D? Is that what you meant?

Binkyridesagain · 04/03/2013 12:57

Just had a very very traumatic M&S experience, I didn't have to go as far as being measured or trying bras on in order to suffer extreme stress, all I was trying to do was find a bra in my size, 32hh,( I know I know, not a chance in that lingerie hell but I was on a hi after buying a Freya for £8.70)
I have never seen a large store display so so much disorganation and chaos as M&S, primark at Christmas has far better standards. The back sizes weren't displayed on order and neither were the cups, so finding anything involved rummaging through every display stand and looking at every size, not a chance to quickly glance and pick up what you wanted.

This wasn't at the end of the day were there might have been an excuse but at 10 am.
In comparison Debenhams was a joy, a quick look revealed only 1 bra in my size that was on sale. The other bras displayed were easily accessible and could be looked at in an instant without me thinking I was at the local church jumble!
M&S you are a disgrace!

Rant over, off to play with my new bra!

Melinda76 · 04/03/2013 13:07

Ok so I've been following this thread with much interest, measuring myself I'm 33 under and 39 over so am guessing around the 34E or 32F range.

I've just been to John Lewis helpful lady who measured me at 34E tried a few bras on and felt quite comfortable in a 34E but still seem to have a lot if excess flesh under the armpit just above the bra material - is this correct? She said ill still have back flab but the cup size is correct....what do I do?

Thanks :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2013 13:15

backfat shots taken will share later.

32, 38.5 here.

Looking round, current bras in bedroom are 32DD / 34D but all hurt by the end of the day.

Live in Asia, where bra sizes are basically all 28AA. But they call it something else. Confused

Help me please. :)

FannyFifer · 04/03/2013 13:18

Where do you measure if you have saggy boobs?

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 13:30

Melinda try 32F/FF and scoop vigorously, that armpit tissue goes in the cup. A smaller band is likely to give you better support and it also reduces back fat if it fits right ( counterintuitive I know).

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 13:31

Loop try 32 E/F. How does the 32 band feel if you put it on back to front?

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 13:32

Fanny bra off, bend over and measure around the 'dangle' to get the fullest measurement- does that make sense?

FannyFifer · 04/03/2013 13:47

Interesting, i shall try that, I'm always uncomfy in bras, lost a lot of the fullness from the top half, iykwim. Breastfeeding totally to blame.
Wear a 36gg at the mo.

blibblibs · 04/03/2013 14:01

Ok, back for a bit more advice please. After Saturdays disasterous shopping trip I went on line and ordered some bra's from next.

One set is a non padded t shirt but it is padded and although it fits it seems to squash them a bit flat & I don't really need any padding so its going back.
Other is lovely, and band seems to be the right size and cups too but there is a bit of puckering at the bottom of the cup. Don't think I have enough to fill the next cup size up because other than that it fits fine. Do I just need to tighten the straps slightly?
Bra is 32F and measurements are 33 under 39/40 over.
Thanks

LoopDeLoops · 04/03/2013 14:05

OK, what am I looking for with this back to front thingy?

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 14:14

Loop just to check the band fits. Can you pull it away from your body? Get a hand under it? It's just a way of checking without the cup distorting things, because if the cup is too small the back will feel too tight but it may not be.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/03/2013 14:14

Binky, that reminds me of the debacle that was shopping for nursing bras in Mothercare. DD was maybe 4 weeks old and I decided I needed some new bras because mine kept getting leaked or puked on. DH, DD and I went off to Mothercare. DH took DD and started wandering around while I wrestled with the bra display. There was no organisation and nothing made sense. If i found a bra I liked the look of it wasn't in my size - or else I thought it was but it turned out to be a maternity bra and not a nursing bra, grr! I was getting the severe rage. I must have been wrestling with the display for a good 20 minutes getting crosser and crosser, and no one came near me to help. I went to the changing rooms and there was no one there either. Tried bra on, really unsure if it fitted (in hindsight it wouldn't have - was a 34FF - probably much too big in the back and small in the cup), but still no one around. I went over to the till and the woman there said brightly 'oh, would you like a fitting for that? When are you due?' Angry DH silently held up the car seat to show her slumbering DD and she went 'oh, I'm sorry, what's his name?' Fail all round.

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 14:16

Blibblibs sounds pretty good. What effect does it have if you tighten the strap? What you don't want to do is to tighten it so that there is pressure on your shoulders. Have you scooped with vigour? When you say puckering do you mean it seems too loose or too tight?

Think its tightness thats doing it but it is comfortable. If I pull the cup up where it meets the straps it disappears but if i tighten the straps they hurt.
Do I need to try the next cup size up? Would that be a FF or G?

LoopDeLoops · 04/03/2013 14:24

Oh I see. Seems OK I think Confused

LoopDeLoops · 04/03/2013 14:25

Um, sorry and it's probably been explained umpteen times already, but what does 'scoop vigorously' mean?

CelticPromise · 04/03/2013 14:27

Blibblibs that was my first thought, next cup size. It would be FF but IIRC someone has said on one of these threads that Next don't do FF so might be straight to G.
