Prince Harrys £20'000 holiday!

chickensarmpit · 23/02/2013 11:24

Currently i am sat amongst a zillion bills wondering which one needs paying first. My eldest dd needs shoes and i haven't had a decent haircut in god knows how long. My Oh lost his job and i'm the only one working.
Out of sheer boredom and the fact i like the comments Grin i popped onto The Mail online, only to be met with Prince Harry having a jolly old time on a £20'000 a week holiday. I thought we were all supposed to be in this together? it says the holiday was paid for by his father but when was the last time that lazy bastard had a job? So how can he pay for it? Yes it was us! the dickhead taxpayer who funded his little jaunt.

I'm so fucked off that so many people in this country are loosing there jobs, homes and yet these leaches are still living it up . Why,when times are so tough for thousands are we still paying for these people? they're no different than us. So why?

OP posts:

They are different to us - they are unfeasibly rich.

Branleuse · 23/02/2013 11:28

shhhh, dont complain. Bend over and take it. Gawd bless our royal family

LIZS · 23/02/2013 11:29

and he did fly out on Easyjet ! His dad can afford to subsidise form income from his estates.

foslady · 23/02/2013 11:29

And breathe......

I know I get cross too - but then again I wouldn't want his life for a gold pig!

LadyBeagleEyes · 23/02/2013 11:31

I agree about the holiday, it is rather rubbing our noses in it, when some people are on the breadline.
He does have a job though, he's just finished a tour in Afghanistan.

LynetteScavo · 23/02/2013 11:31

Because the royal family make more money for the country than they cost to maintain.

l

HollyBerryBush · 23/02/2013 11:33

Diana left him a lot of money too.

Anyway he's on leave at the moment.

You could do away with the Royal family and they would still be richer than us, because most of it is 1,000 years old and inherited.

Unless of course we do away with inheritance for everyone, equal playing field n'all that.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/02/2013 11:34

Royalty are mere peasants compared to some of the wealth around.

gordyslovesheep · 23/02/2013 11:34

The royal family 'make' very little money for the UK - they are not the reason tourists come here

I am no fan of royalty BUT Prince Charles has quiet a few successful businesses such as Duchy Originals so it's highly likely he funded the holiday from his own money - and Harry does a fairly hard job does he not?

motherinferior · 23/02/2013 11:35

I would rather they were ostentatiously demonstrating their posho pointlessness than 'doing good' (yeah right). The more crass holidays like this, the more people who might just possibly come round to realising what a load of nasty freeloaders they are.

Flobbadobs · 23/02/2013 11:35

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/what-does-prince-charles-do-all-day---361918
So he doesn't exactly work down a mine all day but it's not like he does nothing at all. There are stats at the bottom of the article about revenue earned on the Duchy of Cornwall etc. frankly if he wants to send his son on holiday after returning from a war zone who really cares?
I'm willing to bet that the critics wouldn't refuse the amount of money paid to the Royal family or any of the perks involved...

zwischenzug · 23/02/2013 11:35

Prince Charles does earn his money. He rents out the land stolen by his ancestors for us to use. For example one prison pays £300,000+ a year in rent because it is on his land.

I think you are jealous that you don't make such a worthwhile contribution to society.

Morloth · 23/02/2013 11:51

Because his ancestor was a meaner bastard with a bigger sword than yours.

What are you going to do about it?

Cassarick · 23/02/2013 11:53

He's richer than thou - so what?

Tortington · 23/02/2013 11:59

thank god for the witty retorts on this thread - it makes my peasant blood boil.

I think all these foreign holidays at a time when we are all going down the crapper is distasteful.

they should excise some decorum

LadyBeagleEyes · 23/02/2013 11:59

I must admit if I was in the Royal Families' position, I'd happily go on £20,000 pound holidays and live in palaces and castles.Envy
Who wouldn't?
I wish my ancestors had been mean bastards with really big swords.

BlackMini · 23/02/2013 11:59

You know what? He may have holidays like that but I wouldn't want to swap with his life for all the tea in China.

Did you see the documentary he did recently whilst on tour? He actually seemed quite humble and said something along the lines of "My life has offered me great opportunities, but it has also stopped me from doing the one thing I want to do"- he was referring to his roles in the army.

Flobbadobs · 23/02/2013 12:05

So should everyone stop going on foreign holidays just in case us poor people get offended or just the royal family? Should we all just camp in the garden under a tarp or are we allowed to maybe consider going to France this year?
Finding it very hard to give a shit tbh...

FelicityWasCold · 23/02/2013 12:10

You know that it isn't just the royal family going on expensive holidays? There are huge numbers of people who can afford similar extravagance.

Life's not fair

There are far bigger injustices to get worked up about than this one IMHO.

FrameyMcFrame · 23/02/2013 12:10

Lynette Scarvo, that link assumes that the Royal Family own vast tracts of land, like most of Cornwall and most of Northumberland. Should they own this much? Surely it belongs to the people of this country equally?
Should HUGE amounts of land just belong to one family?

It's medieval, like being back in the days of Fuedalism. If the Royals were disbanded then they personally shouldn't get to own all that. It belongs to the UK, and so do the Palaces, crown jewels etc.

FrameyMcFrame · 23/02/2013 12:11

And their obscenely expensive and irritatingly regular holidays are beyond the pail

dikkertjedap · 23/02/2013 12:12

I feel increasingly republican. I think that having a queen or king is very outdated. However, you are lucky, you are in the UK and you can basically kind of say whatever you like.

I am in the Netherlands. If you insult the queen anywhere here you can (and it actually happened last year I believe) go to PRISON. Unbelievable isn't it?

I went to a museum where there was an exhibition about freedom of expression and in the video it mentioned that in the Netherlands you are free to say virtually anything except something which could be considered as an insult to the Dutch royals, which is a prison able offence.

SPsFanjoTheBigStickyHaribo · 23/02/2013 12:13

Oh I love Prince Harry. I will marry him one day then you can slag me off for going on a £20000 holiday! Grin

Id be dressed like Princess Peach from Super Mario. Huge dress, tiara, the fucking lot

LadyBeagleEyes · 23/02/2013 12:16

Ooh, yes SP, your'e just the right age for him.
Will you still MN when you're a Royal?
