Prince Harrys £20'000 holiday!

chickensarmpit · 23/02/2013 11:24

Currently i am sat amongst a zillion bills wondering which one needs paying first. My eldest dd needs shoes and i haven't had a decent haircut in god knows how long. My Oh lost his job and i'm the only one working.
Out of sheer boredom and the fact i like the comments Grin i popped onto The Mail online, only to be met with Prince Harry having a jolly old time on a £20'000 a week holiday. I thought we were all supposed to be in this together? it says the holiday was paid for by his father but when was the last time that lazy bastard had a job? So how can he pay for it? Yes it was us! the dickhead taxpayer who funded his little jaunt.

I'm so fucked off that so many people in this country are loosing there jobs, homes and yet these leaches are still living it up . Why,when times are so tough for thousands are we still paying for these people? they're no different than us. So why?

OP posts:
WhatsTheBuzz · 23/02/2013 19:00

yeah but who wouldn't, if they had the money? I'm jealous myself but it
really annoys me when 'the taxpayer' seems to think they are the ONLY
taxpayer and are paying for everyone ever! Grr. I pay tax. I don't care
where it goes because I'll be paying it no matter what !

Morloth · 23/02/2013 20:02

So I repeat, what are you going to do about it?

Or is he in fact still a meaner bastard with a bigger sword?

If so, that is why he goes on 20k holidays and you don't.

FelicityWasCold · 23/02/2013 20:33

Someone quoted me! That's me happy!

ExitPursuedByABear · 23/02/2013 22:27

When i see a mum of 11 slagged off for being on benefits

OP - so you think she should be applauded?

Tortington · 23/02/2013 22:30

the mum of 11 isn't the issue. you concentrate oin that you miss the point entirely

ubik · 23/02/2013 22:36

They're just better sheep stealers.

Never understood all the cap-doffing sentimentality over the Jubilee, I have no affection or respect for any of them.

And yes we are more interested in crucifying families on welfare or immigrants than this lot - step back and consider why the hell we support them. Why?

EnjoyResponsibly · 24/02/2013 00:44

Yes YABU. Skiing is a stupid way to spend your holiday.

flyingspaghettimonster · 24/02/2013 05:16

How is it possible to spend 20,000 on one week's holiday? I can't fathom that... it is nearly double our annual income...

DontmindifIdo · 24/02/2013 08:10

Flying, that's the point, he didn't, andy rented a chalet for 7 people that normally would charge out for £22k, but we don't know what he actually paid, just that Harry didn't pay for anything other than his flights.... However Harry is the interesting one so it's now not andys holiday eith his dn joining him, it's Harry's...

E320 · 24/02/2013 09:27

Skiing is not a cheap holiday. I pay ?1500 or thereabouts for a week. I haveh my own kit & can drive to the place I stay at. On top of that there is the ski pass plus lunches & drinks, so the total is probably more like ?2000.
If you divide the alleged cost between the number of people in the party, it is not unreasonable for skiing.
I also had a look at the restaurant website, believe me those prices are quite reasonable for Switzerland, I have just spent 18 months working there!
However, my main point is, it is none of our business!

Trigglesx · 24/02/2013 09:40

Not sure why it's necessary to crucify either of them tbh. It amazes me the amount of anger some people carry around about the royals. IMO they have their uses as well as being a big part of the country's history, so I am quite happy to have them around. There are much worse things afoot in the UK.

Only read the OP's first message.

The 'lazy bastard' has just returned from Afghanistan - his last job.

ubik · 24/02/2013 10:05

I don't understand why people aren't more angry about the royals in 2013. I don't understand the passive acceptance that these people are entitled to a vastly privileged lifestyle due to their birth.

Many young people are deployed to Afghanistan and other sandy places in the world, and they are treated badly when they come back with physical and/or mental health problems. Do you remember the stories of soldiers in Iraq with inadequate kit? I don't see why Ptince Harry doing a job which many others do is an argument in favour of maintaining privilege for a group of people who have acquired it through an accident of birth.

HollyBerryBush · 24/02/2013 10:09

No, I'm still not caring he's on holiday

When I'm Queen I'm going to chop off all your heads Grin

SucksToBeMe · 24/02/2013 10:26

Thanks for those flatbread, v interesting. I have worked for another royal family, and I know they would pick up a lot of bills for our royal family. Charles polo bills are all payed for by a Canadian gentleman.

DontmindifIdo · 24/02/2013 10:32

I actually think you are getting upset about the wrong thing here. This is a chalet that rents out at £22k a week, every week of the skiing season and they are able to fill it. Andy apparently has been going annually for his birthday for over a decade.

There are a lot of people who are very very rich who haven't earned their wealth, I just can't get annoyed about this one bloke, who quite frankly seems to have a more socially responsible job (solider) than pretty much anyone else who'll be staying there this winter. (And he's not even paying! If my uncle was funding that sort of trip and I just had to pay for the Easyjet flights out there, I'd be on my way to the airport before you could say "make mine a vin chaud")

Some people are very very rich. Some people are very very poor.

DolomitesDonkey · 24/02/2013 10:35

Don't get the big deal at all. There are those on mn who spend that and I myself before men and children happily spent 5k. So what?

PessaryPam · 24/02/2013 10:38

I don't care either Holly. Tourists come to the UK and spend money and on e attraction (apart from our wonderful weather of course) is royalty. All that pomp and pageantry and castles, they love it. Makes us special as a country.

People would be happier if they stopped coveting their neighbours oxes and £20,000 holidays and stuff.

DontmindifIdo · 24/02/2013 10:42

I also question when people talk about the cost of upkeep of buckingham palace or the various castles, does anyone seriously think that if we were to stop having a King or Queen, these old and historically important properties would magically stay up without any costs to them? Or once the Queen moved out of Buck Palace, would we leave it to rot and fall down? Does anyone really think Obama pays out of his own pocket if the roof needs fixing at the White House?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/02/2013 10:43

£22k divided by 7 people is £3k per person. That actually is only double what DH and I pay when we go.

I hate the petty-minded jealousy that exists in this country. 'If I can't have it then no-one can'.

Many people in this country can afford such holidays - are you going to take their money away as well?

FrameyMcFrame · 24/02/2013 10:45

I think the problem is that they have had a lot of high profile holidays in a short space of time.

The Las Vegas stripping holiday, the French boobs holiday, the Caribbean baby bump holiday and now this one. All in the space of 6 months. I know is not all Harry but I think the general public are getting sick of hearing about these holidays when most people can barely afford one cheap holiday per year in current conditions.

flatbread · 24/02/2013 10:45

The cliched argument about the royals attracting tourism..sign. France attracts more tourists than UK, and they chopped off the royals ages ago.

PessaryPam · 24/02/2013 10:50

Sigh, they have better weather, cheese and wine though.
