I have an Audi RS model...

I am soooo jealous! I would love an RS4 or a TTRS but can't have one as a company vehicle so can only dream of owning one at the moment.

My boss drives an audi (badly)
She is definitely an idiot and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who knows her to tell you otherwise.

Am I ok in my BMW now, have they started picking on another car?

Meglet · 16/02/2013 09:43

I used to get flashed when I had a tiddly KA and I'd be slowly over taking a lorry on the motorway. Flashing me meant I took longer on purpose.

There does seem to be certain brands of cars who think 70mph doesn't apply to them and how dare any other car ever move into the over taking lane costing them precious seconds. it's always audi's and BMW's

Nope BMW drivers are the same as Audi and Merc drivers. Sorry. Tis fact.

Chesterado · 16/02/2013 11:34

Hmm. No excuse for bad driving, whatever car you are in, but find it hard to believe I'm driving the audi I was recently given by work in an any more or less idiotic state than the golf i had before and will now be analysing myself for signs of reduced idiocy next time in in dh's mazda.

Will report back in interest of research if I start driving up behind people and flashing lights at them.

I drive (not in an Audi) near London and it's seldom that the roads are empty enough for me to get up to the speed limit. As far as possible I try to drive exactly on the speed limit, using Satnav instead of speedometer to set speed because that's more accurate, and 10% faster. I set cruise control on whenever I can (even if only for 30 seconds) to maintain my speed exactly on the limit. It can get frustrating when my idea of the speed limit is up to 10% faster than everyone else, so my next car is definitely going to have adaptive cruise control.

The problem I have is when I'm in the outside lane, and a few hundred yards opens up in front of me, and I have someone up my arse. That person is expecting me to drop to 10-15 mph below the speed limit, perhaps for quite a while if I get trapped in the middle lane, just so that they can leap-frog me to tailgate another car driving at the speed limit a few hundred yards ahead.

I take my time getting out of their way, though apparently not too long, as I almost never get flashed. I tend to accelerate rather than brake to find a middle-lane gap, which puts me temporarily over the limit.

Have not noticed if it's any particular sort of car behind me, but suspect that there may be some truth in the saying that not all Audi drivers are cunts, but all cunts drive Audis.

ChairmanWow · 16/02/2013 23:07

Just wondering if the defensive Audi/BMW drivers on here have experienced drivers of those models behaving like twats, or do they not pick on their own species?

I used to find it much worse when I had a Micra. I have a Prius now (yeah I know, but it's a company car and actually pretty gorgeous to drive) and I don't get half as much shit even though I drive at exactly the same speed.

ComposHat · 16/02/2013 23:42

As I said in my previous post not all Audi drivers are twats, but all twats drive Audis. After literally seconds of research walking down the street I have constructed an analysis of various subspecies of motirng twats and their whhels of choice.

twats - Audi/Merc/BMW

money no class twats - Lexarse
wannabe upper class twats - Jaguar/Range Rover
Mid life crisis/newly divorced twats - any convertible
Sales Rep Twats (often talking on mobile shovelling food into their face at 90mph plus)- Pauxhall Vectra
Hairdressing Twats Mazda MX5/Audi TT/Suzuki Vitari
Car as personality substitute twats - Fiat 500/New Mini/New Beetle drivers.
Mundane twats Ford Focus Drivers -
Mundane Twats on a budget - .Hyudai
Wannabe arts fartsy twats - Volvo/Saab
I am an indevijual me, just like everyone else twat - any car with personalised plate. Unless it is an attempt to disguise the age of a smokey old wreck of a car, then that makes you a deluded twat.

Theskiinggardener Sorry for the delayed reply, have been at work - according the the chief inspector and the police advanced response driver I spoke to, you are well within your rights to flash your lights to alert another driver to your presence if you are behind them & want to pass. What you can't do is undertake them - that is totally illegal. They have told me some great stories about police training for advanced response drivers on motorways - but apparently it's the Porsche drivers that are the main culprits for bad driving, not Audi or BMW drivers!

Sulawesi · 17/02/2013 00:27

ComposHat your posts have made me laugh a lot!! Grin

MaMattoo · 17/02/2013 00:44

Yes. No more to say. Audi Arses as I call them.

Ilovewaleswhenitrains · 17/02/2013 01:27

When I went to get petrol yesterday there was a car with the drivers side wing smashed in. Turned out the driver had driven into a bollard. The bollard which had been painted bright yellow because so many people crashed into it!

Ilovewaleswhenitrains · 17/02/2013 01:27

PS, forgot to say, the car was an Audi

BumBiscuits · 17/02/2013 01:58

My Audi driving moronic ex neighbour is a cunt. But then he was a cunt when he had the Yaris too.

BumBiscuits · 17/02/2013 02:01

Arf at composhat Grin

Though I wil not be revealing which brand of twat I am!

ladymariner · 17/02/2013 02:08

Driving along a road tonight in the dark which has been named as one of the most dangerous for accidents in the UK, guess which car was right up my arse and eventually overtook me at god knows what speed near a blind bend.... Total wanker Angry

Bogeyface · 17/02/2013 02:08

I agree however would say that people who drive Porshe Cayenne 4x4 are worse. There are a lot around here, and they make the Audi drivers seem like Driving Miss Daisy!

Bogeyface · 17/02/2013 02:10

I drive a Zafira

I am a "cant afford a proper MPV" twat :)

saladcreamwitheverything · 17/02/2013 02:58

I drive an Audi

I also have a Focus as a "family car"

I will now introduce myself as a Mundane Hairdressing Newly Divorced Twat!

Thanks Compo Grin

I have previously owned a Corsa and a Clio - any thoughts on them???!!

saladcreamwitheverything · 17/02/2013 03:00

I have no personalised plate though (phew!)

anonymosity · 17/02/2013 04:00

I think the audi drivers who are getting into scrapes are boy racers who wish they were driving porches.

PessaryPam · 17/02/2013 04:13

VW Polo drivers are always slow and rubbish drivers in my experience.
