Look at the last 39 threads and ask yourself is this normal or are people a bit silly?

OP posts:

MrsW the watchmaker can't see the 42 but MAY have Darwin in his sights Grin

PoppyWearer · 26/01/2013 21:11

You beat me to it, Sparklingbrook.

BumpingFuglies · 26/01/2013 21:12

OFRS notwithstanding, WHAT GIVES?

Regards

Confused Of MN

mrsjay · 26/01/2013 21:12

Mumsnet is like thinking or wondering out loud sometimes I like the weird and wonderful

BumpingFuglies · 26/01/2013 21:14

mrsjay me too Smile

HoneyDragon · 26/01/2013 21:14

Huh?

Chubfuddler · 26/01/2013 21:14

Maybe I have a different active convos to you. All the threads drawing my attention this evening are rather serious - rape myths and divorce and sexual abuse.

mrsjay · 26/01/2013 21:14

I have just been on Active convos I am not seeing the bizarre tbh

hf128219 · 26/01/2013 21:16

But it is like the thinking out loud for the plain stupid or uneducated.

Like how do I lose a stone

Or how do I save money

How do i get a mortgage

What car is cheap to run

OverlyYappyAlways · 26/01/2013 21:17

All looks normal for MN. I left this went to look was enthralled in random thread, of course people are a bit silly, did you just realise this?

habbibu · 26/01/2013 21:18

Are the plain stupid or uneducated not allowed to post?

Sparklingbrook · 26/01/2013 21:18

Maybe it's not the forum for you then OP. Perhaps you need to go in another direction. What do you want to talk about.

BumpingFuglies · 26/01/2013 21:19

OP, people like to talk. Otherwise they would Google. What's your problem?

AgentZigzag · 26/01/2013 21:19

Maybe people just want to chat, OP? Shock

What was it that made you take the time to post this thread?

You're doing exactly the same thing, it's hardly a pressing dilemma you've got and need advice/support you can't get anywhere else.

Of course MN is bizarre, if it wasn't it'd be NM.

mrsjay · 26/01/2013 21:20

are we not allowed to be a bit daft it is after all social networking where people just well chat Confused

hf128219 · 26/01/2013 21:20

I have been around for 5 years! It's just beginning to concern me. Really worried about other people and their down right lack of common sense and knowledge.

Are people really that daft?

OP posts:
manicinsomniac · 26/01/2013 21:20

well it's not going to be the same as real life is it - It's a board full of anonymous usernames who are free to type whatever they want to with no fear of any judgement or consequence. Naturally it will attract a different kind of content to conversation around the school gates or in the office.

mrsjay · 26/01/2013 21:22

first thread in active i read was somebody was was small in height talking about wedding dresses I fail to see what is daft about that

DoingTheSwanThing · 26/01/2013 21:22

Apparently so.

Chubfuddler · 26/01/2013 21:22

Have you met many people?

Some of them are deeply stupid.

Although I don't think any of your examples are particularly stupid.

I believe we were discussing socialism, constructivionism, patriarchal constructs and determinism -

that is where the party is at Grin

itsallinmyhead · 26/01/2013 21:27

Bizarre, silly, whatever. I love MN. I'm not a particularly well known member but always find great support or a good laugh, dependant on what I'm looking for.

I'd say, if it doesn't 'float yer boat' don't log in.

habbibu · 26/01/2013 21:28

Why isn't it ok to ask which car is cheap to run? People's experience can be v useful. That isn't a common sense issue.

AgentZigzag · 26/01/2013 21:29

'Are people really that daft?'

Not only do they want to chat, but they can be lonely, insecure, scared, isolated, excluded, living a lie, being abused etc etc etc.

The best thing about MN for me is that it takes my mind of the huge shit I've got going on elsewhere, it's a bit of escapism. Of course it's not very nice in a way using other people's problems to obscure my own, but I try to give something back to balance it out a bit.

Does this spell the end of the road for your MN days?

Maybe it's a bit like Neighbours/EEs and you can only watch them for so long before getting fucked off by the storyline recycling?
