For me it would probably be:

Not reading the OP properly and going off on a tangent
Pulling a thread totally OT in order to have a two way jokey conversation with someone else that goes on for pages and pages
Looking up someone's posting history and saying 'well on 5th April 2006 you said this and now you're saying that.

OP posts:
SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 24/01/2013 15:58

Just thinking I haven't actually seen an advance search post before I don't think.

TandB · 24/01/2013 16:00

Oh and unfailing good humour on the part of posters who've just been given a massive kicking.

You know, when they've posted something utterly bonkers and the massed ranks of MN have come together to scream "YES YABU you utter numpty!", but the OP just keeps trundling on, ignoring all the posts. And then they get ruder and ruder until even Mother Theresa would have been getting a bit shirty and defensive, but there's not even a flicker of irritation from the OP.

Poster A: Yes, YABU. You are being so unreasonable that you should be deported from the planet for being the most unreasonable person in the history of unreasonableness. And you smell. And you're ugly. And your friends all hate you.

Poster B: Hi, poster A. Thanks for your post! It's great that everyone's taking the time to help me out with this. Now what does everyone think about this idea....

Hullygully · 24/01/2013 16:00

hey fliffy! how are you?

PrincessFiorimonde · 24/01/2013 16:01

I don't think much really annoys me about MN.

Apart from people overlooking valuable contributions to a thread, of course.

and possibly people who can't tell the difference between a thread and a post

lolz

TandB · 24/01/2013 16:01

Oops - posted too soon. Meant to say that it's unnatural and it makes me a bit twitchy. No-one can be that calm and unruffled without something snapping messily one day.

atthewelles · 24/01/2013 16:03

Anyone got a link to that Ireland thread?

OP posts:
Absy · 24/01/2013 16:04

What's bitchplopping?

And Yay! Yank is pregnant!

Hullygully · 24/01/2013 16:06

I don't like that word

it isn't decent

FunnysInLaJardin · 24/01/2013 16:10

I rarely mention MN to DH because he gives me a Hmm face on the whole. I think he is a bit well gell

HoneyDragon · 24/01/2013 16:10

I don't no which is preventing me working more, this thread or the man who IDE who appears to be having sex with his 4x4 with a dog watching. It's a bloody lose call.

HoneyDragon · 24/01/2013 16:11

The man outside. I can't type and stare

FunnysInLaJardin · 24/01/2013 16:11

I think the Ireland thread got deleted. It all got a bit nasty because LeQ said something like 'it always rains in Ireland and there are no good restaurants', and the IRA set upon her or something like that

LadyBeagleEyes · 24/01/2013 16:12

Oh, and some posters that turn up on threads when a few prolific (for want of a better word) posters are chatting and sharing jokes, accusing them of being cliquey and Royalty.
Sometimes in three short sentences in a regional accent.

With creepy wee brackets.

TandB · 24/01/2013 16:12

DP always says "What does MN think about that then?" and then gets all sniffy when I refuse to tell him on the basis that he's just asking in order to take the piss.

I did point out that he was more than welcome to join up but he looked a little horrified at the idea....

WorraLiberty · 24/01/2013 16:13

"Walk a mile in their shoes"

Fuck off

What if they wear crocs?

StephaniePowers · 24/01/2013 16:13

I don't really MN much any more, but for a while there, there was a poster who twisted everything. You'd see a huge long thread, and half of it would be gullible twats people posting 'yay X you tell 'em!', you'd look back and the thing she was telling 'em was sheer twisted spiteful deliberate misreading and supposition. She'd have been flattened by a good lawyer (or would have made a good lawyer Wink ) but the good folk of Mn at the time were just desperate to follow.

So I hate that. People who are good with their words and use them to twist meanings and bully others. There used to be a few of them on MN in fact, but I don't really pay attention now so I choose to believe they've all gone and crawled under a rock in anticipation of a long and miserable menopause.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 24/01/2013 16:14

Has it ever struck anyone that the dhs we hear from/of most often are the ones who are mixed race, and are laaarfing and laaarfing at all of us for having a problem with the word coloured, or sometimes with golliwogs?

RandallPinkFloyd · 24/01/2013 16:15

The Ruth of your mouth thing was not funny.

Absy · 24/01/2013 16:15

WHAT IS BITCHPLOPPING

I thank you

TandB · 24/01/2013 16:17

Nit - we hear from an awful lot of people who are "laaarfing" about stuff.

I imagine some MNer ringing their friend and saying "Would you be offended about x comment?" and then just a wave of manic, high-pitched laughter coming back down the phone.

WorraLiberty · 24/01/2013 16:17

Absy bitch plopping is when someone just plops a bitch one liner into a thread but doesn't come back to discuss/explain their comment.

FabbyChic was brilliant for it Grin

atthewelles · 24/01/2013 16:18

There are no good restaurants in Ireland??? Who said that??

It does rain a lot here though. Sad

OP posts:
pictish · 24/01/2013 16:20

I miss Fabbychic and her obtuse observations. She made me laugh so much. She told me to fuck off a handful of times as well. I never held it against her...she was class. Grin

Absy · 24/01/2013 16:20

That sounds fun. I might start doing it. My plan from yesterday of just posting "I agree with Paggy" hasn't worked out as I'm too opinionated. Bitch Plopping just might.

I think LaQueen's Ireland thread was in Chat, hence it's disappearance.

Another fave thread of mine, from baby names, was when someone wanted to call their kid Tayo so it fitted into their DP's tattoo. It was awesome.

fiventhree · 24/01/2013 16:21

People who "cross out" more than they post.

Another thing, which I know makes me a bit of a shit...all those long threads in relationships clearly written by teenagers , and often about not very much.
