For me it would probably be:

Not reading the OP properly and going off on a tangent
Pulling a thread totally OT in order to have a two way jokey conversation with someone else that goes on for pages and pages
Looking up someone's posting history and saying 'well on 5th April 2006 you said this and now you're saying that.

OP posts:
FunnysInLaJardin · 25/01/2013 09:57

that winds me up too when an OP is badly written and folk pull her up and the OP says well aksherly I am dyslexic. I always think No you're not you're just badly educated. I am thinking that dyslexia doesn't usually manifest itself by way of text speak?

herewegoloubylou · 25/01/2013 09:59

Why would the OP be lying about having dyslexia, though?

atthewelles · 25/01/2013 09:59

Actually, I'm annoyed right now.
I start a thread on other posters being annoying, I go off for a few hours to have a life, and by the time I come back its turned into a competitive vomiting thread.

Puke off, the lot of you.

herewegoloubylou · 25/01/2013 09:59

And if someone is badly educated, should she be mocked?

FunnysInLaJardin · 25/01/2013 10:05

here by way of defence ie how could you mock my text speak I have an actual condition. And yes to your second question. I honestly believe the ill educated should be mocked. They should have taken more notice at school

herewegoloubylou · 25/01/2013 10:06

The irony is exquisite however, OP.

herewegoloubylou · 25/01/2013 10:07

That is a beautiful, generous attitude, Funnys.

herewegoloubylou · 25/01/2013 10:08

Presumably you know that "jardin" is a masculine noun?

BIWI · 25/01/2013 10:10

Mocking is definitely bad - whatever the reason.

But I am often amazed at how poorly educated or possibly just dim some posters are. Yes, there are people who are dyslexic - but there are a lot of other people who simply can't spell.

I know posting on a forum isn't the same as writing an academic thesis, where everything has to be spelt properly, blah blah blah - and we all make mistakes when posting in a hurry (or when autocorrect decides what we want to post!), but all that aside, I do judge people for bad spelling Blush. But only in my head - I never and would never pull them up on it. I know I'm an anal pedant (one step up from a pedant) and that it matters to me - whereas to others it matters not a jot.

Although I think I may have once pulled someone up for appalling spelling - a truly horrible and deeply unpleasant poster who appeared in the aftermath of all the McCann threads

FunnysInLaJardin · 25/01/2013 10:12

here yes

FunnysInLaJardin · 25/01/2013 10:15

I am not the best at spelling but if someone pulls me up on it I don't pretend to have dyslexia.

atthewelles · 25/01/2013 10:32

I also hate threads where a load of mass hysteria is whipped up and posters start competing to be the most 'offended' 'disgusted' 'shocked' 'I am nearly crying with rage typing this' 'fuck fuck fuck off to the farthest part of fuck'.

OP posts:
BIWI · 25/01/2013 10:33

You don't think it's your thread, do you, atthewelles? Wink

atthewelles · 25/01/2013 10:36

Yes BIWI it's mine, mine and all mine. But you can borrow a post or two if you like Smile

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 25/01/2013 11:23

I'm not the best at spelling but if someone pulls me up on it I don't pretend I have dyslexia either. I do think they are a cunt though.

Pagwatch · 25/01/2013 11:25

My friends dh once corrected something I had written on the notice board in my kitchen.
He had a massively expensive education. I was taught English for three years by a man who couldn't speak English.
He thought it proved he was better than me. All it proved was that education should incorporate manners.

RandallPinkFloyd · 25/01/2013 11:29

Applauds pag. All spelling correction on here (unless done in a jokey way to someone you know ) comes under the aforementioned sneering banner, and as such marks one out as a twat.

Hullygully · 25/01/2013 11:44

I don't mind if people point out my mistakes, I'd rather know and do it right next time

Hullygully · 25/01/2013 11:45

Mind you, easy for me to say, I don't make any

TantrumsAndBalloons · 25/01/2013 11:49

One of my FAVOURITE things ever was when someone at work asked if I had any tippex.

I said "no, I don't make mistakes"

I am quite proud of that as normally I think of these witty little things 3 hours after the conversation finished :(
But that one just popped into my head [sad loser emoticon]

BIWI · 25/01/2013 11:51

Hully - I think you'll find that you missed the full stop at the end of your sentence.

Hullygully · 25/01/2013 11:53

I don't bother on here, don't bother with proper sentences, capital letters etc

Hullygully · 25/01/2013 11:54

Anyway that's grammar not spelling

so ner

ExitPursuedByABear · 25/01/2013 11:58

Anyway, back to vomit.

At the age of 14 I puked on the driveway at home. I managed to convince my mother that it was vimto, but in truth it was rum & blackcurrant.

Blurgirl · 25/01/2013 12:00
