AnyaKnowIt · 17/12/2012 22:16

Who knew chocolates could be middle class?

MerylStrop · 17/12/2012 22:17

I bloody love After Eights

I think they transcend class and cultural boundaries in a way no other wafer thin mint can

HoHoHokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 17/12/2012 22:17

YABU, they are bloody lovely especially when you have a load of them sandwiched together

Who said they were middle class though? Xmas Confused

GreenyEyes · 17/12/2012 22:17

Is it because they use words like 'pardon' and 'serviette'?

Sunnywithachanceofjinglebells · 17/12/2012 22:18

YABU. They are Christmas in a dark green box.

AlbertoFrog · 17/12/2012 22:18

I much prefer matchsticks. Can eat a whole box in one evening Xmas Grin

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 17/12/2012 22:18

ooooo YES! Get four, pile them up, compress them ^just% the right amount, and then stuff them all in one's gob at once - Bliss Xmas Grin
exposes self as common and fat and doesn't care

rubberglove · 17/12/2012 22:19

well yes Greeneyes, but they try too hard...

OP posts:
HoHoHokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 17/12/2012 22:19

You and me both then Pom Xmas Grin

HoHoHokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 17/12/2012 22:20

After Eights, the wafer thin mint that tries too hard.....

Who gives a shit they are lovely.

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 17/12/2012 22:21

Really not - I buy them in Poundland.

I bought 4 boxes for Christmas - dh and I have eaten them already.

They are amazing layered in a brownie mix and cooked into it - minty choc orgasm.

pointysettia · 17/12/2012 22:21

After Eights are lovely. But only the mint ones.

And it has to be said that Sainsburys mint chocolate is better still - chunky dark chocolate with mint filling...

I have £76 in Nectar points and I am going to spend the whole bloody lot this Saturday!!!

peaceandlovebunny · 17/12/2012 22:21

ok if you're stuck, at christmas. not middle class and would never serve them to guests.

pointysettia · 17/12/2012 22:22

Lauries you are a culinary genius, I am so going to try that!!!

apostrophethesnowman · 17/12/2012 22:22

As far as I'm aware nobody has ever suggested that they're middle class.

They are, however, very delicious. They are also compulsory at Christmas and must be eaten in copious amounts. It's the law.

YABU for bringing "class" into chocolate.

You're a bit uncouth really.

Elegantlybasted · 17/12/2012 22:22

Which are middle class then? Do chocolates have a class? Mars bars and Aeros which one is "of the people" as Jeeves would say?

Bluestocking · 17/12/2012 22:22

I love After Eights. And Matchmakers. Does anyone else remember coffee Matchmakers?

They become middle class when you play the After Eight game:

Place After Eight on forehead.
Aim is to get it into your mouth without using hands.

Middle class irony, see? Xmas Grin

mathsconundrum · 17/12/2012 22:24

Not very mc at all. Choc too cheap tasting and goo too glucosey and not minty enough. Most of the supermarkets own versions are superior. Choc often made in Germany and thicker, mintier and better quality.

Elegantlybasted · 17/12/2012 22:25

WC = Yorkie bars - they are eaten by lorry drivers so that's easy.
