You can avoid buying Nestle products and buy Divine After Dinner Mint Thins - though it costs a bit to be ethical!

ninah Grin

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 17/12/2012 22:54

depends what you're doing at 8 o'clock ninah

Viviennemary · 17/12/2012 22:54

They're classless. Grin I got some minty chocolates from Lakeland and they were twice as dear and not nearly as nice. Was going to keep them till Christmas but didn't.

perplexedpirate · 17/12/2012 22:56

They make lush dishwasher vodka.

Hic

TwinkleTwinkleLittleSal · 17/12/2012 22:58

After Eights straight on the table after the Christmas pudding has been cleared away. My mum's tradition and I honour it every year in her memory.

so you can stick your class bias up your arse

Classy Wink

QuickLookBusy · 17/12/2012 22:58

You cannot beat an After Eight Mint

I also wonder why the makers, messed about making orange flavoured chocs and then the white ones. STOP messing with them please, they only disappoint.

EnjoyResponsibly · 17/12/2012 22:59

Put one on your forehead and wiggle it down your face to your mouth without touching it with your hands or dropping it.

They last longer.

coffeeinbed · 17/12/2012 23:02

The only reason the leftover half a box is safe is that i"m far too lazy to get off the sofa and get it.

ninah · 17/12/2012 23:04

finishing dinner dahling, obvs

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 17/12/2012 23:19

I think they are yummy; I like the crackle when you crush them against the roof of your mouth.

I don't really give a damn what class a foodstuff is; if I like the taste, it's in.

beanandspud · 17/12/2012 23:29

You need one of these. It even has wheels!

SantaWearsGreen · 17/12/2012 23:30

They did used to be a bit posh but have certainly lost that. If you can find them in a £ shop then they're not mc as a general rule. They're horrid anyway.. I never liked them.

I also wouldn't say ferrero rocher are posh anymore.. But they are nice.

Green and Blacks white chocolate is amazing. Just saying.

Nancy66 · 17/12/2012 23:33

In the 70s they were posh - along with Terry's All Gold

AlexReidsLonelyThisChristmas · 17/12/2012 23:36

Yorkie now do Yorkie buttons, they are huge and lovely straight from the fridge.

I buy a box of after dinner mints every year and we never eat them. My intentions are good, and I can't fight tradition. I'm just not that keen on chocolate and mint together.

Bluestocking · 17/12/2012 23:36

I don't think either A8s or Terry's All Gold were exactly posh in the 1970s - I think they were more aspirational - think Alison Steadman in Abigail's Party. I'm going to get DS to make an A8 transporter out of Lego.

ouryve · 17/12/2012 23:38

I can't remember the last time I had an After Eight Mint. I should probably never have one again, in order to avoid crushing disappointment.

marriedandwreathedinholly · 17/12/2012 23:39

I couldn't give a monkey's elbow what class they are. I think they are lovely and have never know anyone refuse one Xmas Smile. Thanks thread - will buy a box tomorrow.

ouryve · 17/12/2012 23:40

Admittedly, the nestle thing will help me in that resolution.

apostrophethesnowman · 17/12/2012 23:53

Abigail's Party. Happy memories.Xmas Smile

Top you up dear?

Bluestocking · 18/12/2012 07:36

A cheesy pineapple one, apostrophe?

misterwife · 18/12/2012 07:54

After Eights aren't really any class - they're just shite. But I quite like the sound of frozen ones.

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 18/12/2012 09:57

All you do to make Choc Brownie After Eights is use your favourite choc brownie recipe and when putting it in the dish to cook you put half the amount in, then layer the mix with After Eights (or any kind of choc, I did some for children last week with Smarties), then pour the other half of the mixture on. Now you have a layered brownie. You can do it with white choc and it looks pretty, or even with crumbled biscuits to give a brownie/tiffin feel.

Easy Peasy Xmas Smile
