Bluestocking I LOVED coffee matchmakers, I mourn the passing of them every time I see the mint and orange ones in the shops now. In fact I love all coffee chocolates.

Startail · 17/12/2012 22:33

After eights just say DDad to me.
He's always given a box by me or DSIS. Long since given up wrapping it and 50% will be gone in a flash. The other 50% before I get to pinch one.
DDad is lovely, but he doesn't share After Eights

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 17/12/2012 22:33

definitely better frozen..but I've already been told I'm not middle class.

coffeeinbed · 17/12/2012 22:33

I might have eaten half a box since last Sunday.
Surprised at own restrain.

FreudiansSlipper · 17/12/2012 22:34

After Eights frozen must try that

OddBoots · 17/12/2012 22:35

I thought you were going to say that no-one middle class would purchase Nestle products.

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 17/12/2012 22:35

Ugh vile things. This is the second thread this evening that I've had to mention lindor. Mmmmmmm

Is it middle class to brush one's teeth while eating chocolate? If so, After Eights are middle class.

And revolting.

ifancyashandy · 17/12/2012 22:36

You can ALL have my After Eights, Roses, Quality Street, Matchmakers and any and all assorted chocolate because.... Wait for it..... I bloody hate the gopping stuff!

I realise this'll probably get me frogmarched out of MN forever!

TheCountessOlenska · 17/12/2012 22:36

Surely Ferrero Rocher the poshest chocolate, served in the upper echelons of the diplomatic services

wigglesrock · 17/12/2012 22:37

Frozen aftereights are gorgeous. I'm doing a hamper for FIL for Christmas this year - all his favourite bits. After Eights were the first thing in, even before Asdas own vodka (he swears its the nicest) I've been talking myself into not sneaking into them all evening, this thread may have broken my steel backbone Grin

Beveridge · 17/12/2012 22:38

Also a Nestle product so within the scope of the boycott. Helpfully all Nestle chocolate is pretty crap so it's not exactly a cross to bear deciding to avoid it.

Asda do a fab own brand version, much thicker chocolate and costs less. And clearly not middle class.

SrirachaGirl · 17/12/2012 22:38

What a timely thread! I'm having a little problem with the chocolate mints at the mo. Our supermarket here has an own-brand version of After Eights except they're made with naice dark chocolate and they're fatter (and so am I).

I also bought these chocolate peppermint creams last week. Soooooooo good. I went back to buy more but they were sold out Xmas Angry.

BluelightsAndSirens · 17/12/2012 22:39

I prefer matchmakers but my nan loves an after eight although she does put the wrapper back in the box Hmm

We used to make mint thins out of mint flavouring and icing sugar and then freeze them.

Good ol dayz

Fedupnagging · 17/12/2012 22:39

Xmas GrinOddBoots

After Eights - love em!

BluelightsAndSirens · 17/12/2012 22:39

Iceland do frozen mint thins.

Just saying

Bluestocking · 17/12/2012 22:43

So, shesariver and AlbertoFrog, how shall we persuade the Matchmakers people to revive the oh-so-delicious coffee version?

whois · 17/12/2012 22:44

I'm not sure if after eights are very posh, but I love them! They've been on offer for £1.50 everywhere recently and so far I've eaten 2 of the 3 boxes I bought or Xmas.

IneedAsockamnesty · 17/12/2012 22:45

do I tell you nestle make them or not

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 17/12/2012 22:45

bluestocking you've mentioned it on mumsnet, the marketeers are working on it now

catgirl1976geesealaying · 17/12/2012 22:45

I like Twilights and they are proper common
Grin

But after 8's are not MC

I would have thought an MC choc mint would be some sort of Green and Blacks type confection

If chocolates have a social class

Aftereightsaremine · 17/12/2012 22:47

Ahem!

catgirl1976geesealaying · 17/12/2012 22:48

Oh and btw

Dark Chocolate Lindor

Made me do an actual sex wee.

Amazing

ninah · 17/12/2012 22:50

course they are mc, if they were wc class they'd be after 5s
