That way, all the bigots who've been cluttering up Mumsnet of late could post there and spare the rest of us from reading their biogoted stupidity.

AIBU?

They could have section called
I'm not a ..... but

Paiviaso · 12/12/2012 11:18

YABU. These are real feelings people have, and so should be discussed.

BrevilleTron · 12/12/2012 11:18

YANBU

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 12/12/2012 11:19

They could always sod off to the EDL Facebook page.

The repartee over there is at least at their level.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 12/12/2012 11:21

YABU - whether you agree or not, this is a site for people with different beliefs, different opinions etc etc. You will always get people with way-out opinions who are brave enough to post!

DameMargotFountain · 12/12/2012 11:21

discussed?

really? bigots don't want discussion, they want to heard and take that as validation

of all the bigots i know, they don't talk about feelings, they talk about rights, about other people and how wrong they are. not once have i mentioned a bigot 'discuss' feelings

InExitCelsisDeo · 12/12/2012 11:22

Free Speech and all that.

At least if they have their views challenged they may have their eyes opened a bit.

And we can see who they are

DameMargotFountain · 12/12/2012 11:22

mentioned? overheard Blush

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 12/12/2012 11:24

Really?

Where and what?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/12/2012 11:26

YANBU. It's tedious and goady

DameMargotFountain · 12/12/2012 11:28

it's ok, the nasty people will be gone soon

Fecklessdizzy · 12/12/2012 11:30

Nope, it's better like this ... Bigoted posts get flamed and the OP realises most people think they're spouting a load of bollocks, whereas if they all get roped off in some corner somewhere out of the way they'll all agree with one another's twaddle and feel like they have their finger on the pulse of public opinion rather than up their own fundaments ... Grin

GothAnneGeddes · 12/12/2012 11:37

Everlong - the thread complaining about Britain being multicultural is a prime example and there seems to have been loads of similar threads of late.

DH from outside the UK (and Muslim too, double horror). He came here on a scholarship and ended up staying and now has dual nationality.

The area we live in is very multicultural. I went to look at a primary school for DD, in the hall, they had displayed a flag from all the different countries the children came from, there must have been over 30 different flags, I thought it looked lovely.

When people say they don't like multiculturalism in Britain, it means they don't want my husband here and they don't like my community and I find that very sad.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 12/12/2012 11:39

Ah yes sorry goth I'd forgotten about that.

I purposefully didn't go on that thread.

laurenamium · 12/12/2012 11:39

YADNBU

FrothyOM · 12/12/2012 11:40

I was just thinking the same thing

Nancy66 · 12/12/2012 11:41

I said on the other thread and i'll say it here - I don't think the thread about the latest census findings is racist.

It was the biggest news story to emerge yesterday, the lead item on ITV, BBC, Channel 4 and Sky News.

Yet it can't be discussed on MN because it's 'racist.'

SnowProbs · 12/12/2012 11:43

I like the idea of a 'I'm not racist but....' MN forum. Sub-headings could include:

'I have a black friend, so I definitely cant be racist, BUT...'
'My kid is the only white in the village and I am not being racist, BUT...'
'I eat halal KFC, so I am not Islamaphobic, BUT...'

Endless possibilities for racists to safely express their racism.

Anyway...lets keep the racists here so we can keep tabs on their ramblings!

GothAnneGeddes · 12/12/2012 11:45

Nancy66 - there is a clear difference between discussing the census and not liking Britain being Multicultural.

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 12/12/2012 11:47

but even people attempting to discuss it are being rounded on.

Jins · 12/12/2012 11:48

I'm continually shocked by the casual racism expressed on MN

It's the 'Is this racist?' questions that get to me every time. It's always something that everyone from the year dot would recognise as being racist and there's always hordes of posters coming on saying that it's not or that a child wouldn't know not to say whatever it was or some other such shit.

It gets me down sometimes

SnowProbs · 12/12/2012 11:51

People who want to discuss the census or related topics sensibly should be free to do so.

People who make huge sweeping statements about 'multiculturalism' ...or spout garbled, lazy nonsense which does not distinguish between 'non white British' and immigrant ...or who use news items as pegs for their own nasty, racist agendas ... Well they can expect to be called racists/bigots/xenophobes.

MadSleighLady · 12/12/2012 11:53

I wonder (but can't quite be bothered to ask) where these people live, that all this multiculturalism is coming as such as immense surprise to them.

I always have a sneaking feeling they live in relatively unmixed areas and it's fear of the unknown in the newspaper. Places like London where communities have had a lot of churn for a long time seem to have different problems, but not this particular bigotry problem.

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers · 12/12/2012 11:58

The census findings CAN be discussed Nancy. But people aren't discussing them as in "How interesting about the census results" but rather "few too many darks round here for my liking"

It stinks and most people know it.

helpyourself · 12/12/2012 11:59

There's a conversation to be had about immigration. I personally wish we could leave the EU and concentrate on forging stronger trade links with the Commonwealth. But it's hard to have a debate about immigration without the Little Englanders coming out of the woodwork. As for the twattish threads on MN, I think it's useful to be reminded that such bigots exist- I don't read the Daily Mail, live and work in a multicultural area and don't have friends who think thus; it's important to be aware that people think like this. They have the vote and the major political parties have to pander to them acknowledge that.
