Why are:

  1. Certain items of clothing = "mumsy" eg bootcuts, tunics, some boots but not others (forget which)
  1. Short wide jumpers are inherently better than others
  1. Anyone over a size 12 = fat
  1. Fat = mumsy
  1. That thinking the above makes you a cleverer and more knowing alnd all-round better person with a slight pitying disdain for those that don't agree.

Lastly I would like a definition of "Mumsy" and why it is an insult.

Thank you.

But also, it wasn't about S&B especially - I just wanted to know why people who said the things those few did say, thought what they thought. On what basis they said those things. It was interesting.

What other thread?

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 13:15

Tunicgate, everlong

LRD I can't see the usual people I chat to on the other thread.

Yeah, there are digs at waterfall cardigans funny that because even the most stylish of my friends have at least one and 'mum boots' but it's usually VERY good humoured and plenty of 'Oh just wear what you like' comments to glance things out.

I wish I was a size 12 -14 Hmm but I love make up, jewellery and products so I'm always over there.

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 13:17

I asked the questions in the op on the thread about tunics, but it was suggested it wasn't a good place (fair enough) so I said I'd start a different thread to see what answers there were.

balance not glance

LRDtheFeministDude · 06/12/2012 13:17

I think it's usually very good humoured.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 06/12/2012 13:18

Oh haven't seen it.
S and B I'm guessing?

LRDtheFeministDude · 06/12/2012 13:18

hully - not sure it quite counts as a thread-about-a-thread when you're asked to take it elsewhere, is it?!

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents · 06/12/2012 13:18

Oh no, there's no excuse for waterfall cardigans. Flagrant waste of wool and acrylic. Won't someone think of the acrylics?

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 13:19

APPARENTLY, if you don't bother to RTFT, it does and it's fine. But what do I know, bossy, arrogant and controlling of the discourse as I am...

OP posts:
HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 13:20

I wore something waterfallish once but I kept getting caught on door handles. Most impractical, and cold when they don't do up.

I don't find S & B sneery at all Smile

The posters on S & B have different styles and don't like the same things at all. We're all pretty accepting of each other's "tastes".

I like fashion and the history of costume/fashion, yes it's pretty banal and irrelevant as to whether you are a "worthy" human being or not but tbh I get my fix of that elsewhere in my life.

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 13:21

Ok, see what's happened?

Can we just clea rthis up?

NO ONE HAS SAID THAT S&B AS A SECTION IS SNEERY

Is that absolutely clear?

I just wanted some answers to the questions above. the end.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 06/12/2012 13:22

Haven't got time to read it.

Tbf I hate tunics. For me. I don't like them.
But I couldn't give a rats arse if someone else does.
None of my business.

And usually S and B is a lovely place to hang out.

valiumredhead · 06/12/2012 13:22

RTFT?

HullyEastergully · 06/12/2012 13:22

I have to go out now, in my leather onesie and waders, I shall keep my eyes peeled for mumsies
