To Not Know How to List this fecking Awful Sofa...

..On The Ebay.

Right, dp has a friend, they used to live together, friend is lovely, but my God he has the worst taste ever. I'm talking he is into stuff from before Changing Rooms came along, stuck in 1991. Bless him.

Anyway, he knows I sell all my old tat via Facebook and EBay, not for lots of cash, but have had a few "touches" as he refers to them and got more than I bargained for. So, he needs to sell his old sofa and has asked me to sell it for him on EBay.

I don't mind doing that at all. Except he has no idea that
a) salmon pink leather sofas with wooden bits are not the height of fashion
b) most sofas go for pennies now
c) it fecking minging

This sofa is so out dated, Barbara Cartland would have said no despite the sheer pinkness of it.

He spent 5 grand on it, and thinks he will get at least £500 for it. He'll be lucky to get £50.

What shall I do? I have said I will list it, but I don't know how to tell him if it doesn't sell why it didn't. I cannot just say "mates, its bloody awful" can I?

Very heavy, solid suite which will look great as it is or with throws.

Lawks! Someone certainly saw him coming when they got £5,000 for it.

I might have amended this to read "the terrifying pinkness has undoubtedly made your eyes bleed but actually, if you entirely encased it in a throw, it would look much less like something sent to analysis during a post-mortem."

OhFentonDUDE · 29/11/2012 13:49

That is UGLY, dude.

Sad
Softlysoftly · 29/11/2012 13:52

Mistletoe please let's do that! Imagine how pleased MNHQ would be with a new sofa for Christmas and the distraction might make Olivia miss some of our bad behaviour

wonderingsoul · 29/11/2012 13:53

i dont think its THHHAAATTT bad actually.

not something i would buy but its cute in its own way and i can see some one paying for it. it is in good nick as well.

SuePurblyFeltYourPresents · 29/11/2012 13:57

How about if you claimed it was actually made from the scrotum of someone famous? It's that particular shade of pink that no skin actually is, but that dolls/plasters etc are often made in. In fact, there's an angle: 'recycled from the latex skin of over 400 Love Dolls'

Mandy2003 · 29/11/2012 14:04

I'm glad to hear you will be re-photographing it! Perhaps pose/style it a bit too - in photo 5 for instance I'm sure you can move the seat/back cushions a bit to make it look less scrotal...

Please dump the scatter cushions - I can almost smell them from here, a roll-uppy fug is emanating from them, and there's no way they match!!

ShatnersBassoon · 29/11/2012 14:05

It's 8 years old?! What sort of shop was selling things that looked like that in 2004? It looks like it's been chewed up and spat out. I don't believe he paid that much for it. It's one of his Nan's castoffs.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 29/11/2012 14:11

I have a sleeping toddler on my chest and my ribs ache from holding in the laughter at this thread. I would amend to say it is very sturdy and well made with years of life left. Reluctant sale. Thats the best you could do lol. I need a sofa but not that one. Sorry Sad

SnoogyWoo · 29/11/2012 15:55

The McDonald's cup and ashtray really help set the ambience for the sale.
