It's Diwali. It could go on for a while!

ChicMama25 · 13/11/2012 22:01

YANBU I am suffering here too!

trixie123 · 13/11/2012 22:02

Its Diwali today - that'll be why. Bit annoying yes and 10pm a bit late but hopefully won;t go on long

DilysPrice · 13/11/2012 22:02

It's Diwali, so I'd say 10pm is not too late, sorry.

PseudoBadger · 13/11/2012 22:02

Should stop by 11 :)

ramblingmum · 13/11/2012 22:02

YANBU We had fireworks her this evening too. Dd1 was already having problems getting to sleep and it didn't help

StuntGirl · 13/11/2012 22:02

Yup, Diwali. They're going off round here too, I quite like it!

Svrider · 13/11/2012 22:03

I don't understand why some fireworks are so loud
Unacceptable IMO

ChicMama25 · 13/11/2012 22:03

Sorry don't care what it is, it's antisocial behaviour, whether it is November 5th or any other festival! On fireworks night ppl had the decency to at least wait till the weekend!

OTTMummA · 13/11/2012 22:05

YANBU, it is antisocial, disruptive and i would love to ban private displays and just have public ones.

IceAndSliceOfBrainsPlease · 13/11/2012 22:06

Aaah, Diwali. That'll explain why my neighbours set off a load of fireworks just as DD had gone to sleep and DS was going up to bed (both DCs hate fireworks). Pissed me off that I had to soothe drug my kids, but I did enjoy the display.

blackeyedsusan · 13/11/2012 22:07

i hate it... but only because I can' t see the damn things and am getting frustrated!

we had fireworks at 12.30am last night.

nancy75 · 13/11/2012 22:08

Ottmumma, do you think anywhere would hold public displays for Diwali? Asking for the fireworks to wait for the weekend is like saying we should only have Christmas on a Saturday

Petershadow · 13/11/2012 22:08

11???
Bloody hell
Dh threatening to get the hosepipe over the fence!

We had loads close by earlier. They woke up DS who thought world war 6 was starting (don't ask me what happened to world wars 3-5 Hmm). I'm in agreement about private fireworks - there should be organised displays only.

ChicMama25 · 13/11/2012 22:10

Most people have to go to work tomorrow we do not get this whole week off! Bit of consideration and less entitlement please!

DilysPrice · 13/11/2012 22:11

10pm really isn't that late. It's past most children's bedtime, but if you set them off at 8pm you'd still wake up a load of toddlers. I reckon that after 11pm on a weekday you'd have the right to get grumpy.

maddening · 13/11/2012 22:12

The thing is - if someone wants to set fireworks off after a reasonable time there are ones that make a lot less noise - fountains and Roman candles - there are even quiet rockets - so anyone could celebrate whatever they fancy without pissing off the neighbours- there's no excuse.

Fine, that wasn't my experience, but want to be clear am not denigrating anyone's festival or implying any cultures are superior or anything stupid like that. It's just that its a weeknight and people should be considerate of that.

Petershadow · 13/11/2012 22:18

Gone a bit quiet now, maybe they read this thread

They did seem particularly noisy

Still going here, after 2 fucking weeks of fireworks every fucking night I'm starting to get pissed off

StuntGirl · 13/11/2012 22:22

Why is it entitled to have some fireworks for diwali? Confused

Treats · 13/11/2012 22:29

Glad I read this thread. We had some very noisy ones around here at about 9pm and I was panicking that DD would wake up and cursing their inconsiderate arses - Bonfire night was last week!!

But now that I realise it was Diwali I feel a bit less annoyed about it. And now that it's stopped of course.
