To think this bus driver was 100% in the right?

A female passenger abuses the driver (swearing and racist abuse) and then hits him, he then hits her back, is he really in the wrong for doing this?

If it were a female bus driver physically assaulted by a male thug and responding with a good punch, everybody here would be applauding her. On his part it was self defence and part teaching her a lesson not to hit him again. I don't think anyone comes off well in this video tbh but if you're going to attack people then you have to be prepared to face the consequences. Not everybody is going to sit back while you hit them, many will hit back as hard as they can. So don't attack people. She deserved it and if it were a man that did that, he too would have deserved it. If you want special treatment as a 'lady', then act like one.

GhostShip · 12/10/2012 22:34

usual
we did try that. This went on for... 6 years?

Unfortunately it didn't work. Nothing did. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Last time he tried to twist my boobs so hard I cried he got a punch to the face that broke the fuckers nose.

No-one ever hurt me again and everyone's happy. :)

I wouldn't do anything like that now though, just saying sometimes people do deserve a good crack.

BupcakesAndHaunting · 13/10/2012 00:11

I'd say making an educated guess.

CaliforniaLeaving · 13/10/2012 02:03

WeAllhavewings I was thinking of that video when I started to watch this one.
What the hell is wrong with these women/girls they think just cause they have a uterus they can hit men and not be hit back, they are stupid.
I think the bus driver hit a bit hard, but if you are willing to dish it out you better be ready to take it.
And the woman behind the camera is saying "she's a female" like that excuses her piss poor behavior and getting physical with anyone.
Chances are the driver will lose his job over this person, I was going to say Twat, but if we call stupid men twats, what is she? A scrotum?

Bogeyface · 13/10/2012 02:22

You give it out, you got to take it back.

Neither one is right, but you cant be threatening and violent to someone and then be all offended when they hit you back. Just because she is a woman doesnt give her the right to be violent and then cry "abuse" when she gets a bit back of what she gave out.

"Yes she hit him first but he wasn't exactly calming the situation down by sayign something about slicing her face open beforehand"

He didn't say he would slice her face open, he said it looked like someone had sliced her face up. In other words, he was saying she was very ugly.

LDNmummy · 13/10/2012 02:42

In the police report, he said that she spat in his face and grabbed him around the throat.

It was self defense if you take that into account.

Neither of them pressed charges.

mayorquimby · 13/10/2012 08:42

No sympathy for the woman but I would have a hard time viewing what he did as self-defence. I don't think his actions were born out of a need to protect himself they were to enact revenge and from anger and to my mind disproportionate to any threat faced. Having said that I have no great sympathy for antagonistic twats who go looking for trouble and find it, make or female.

The man in the second link with the group of girls is 100% justified however in my opinion.

Proudnscary · 13/10/2012 08:45

What a generally depressing and hideous story

Kalisi · 13/10/2012 08:47

Don't dish it out if you can't take it at the end of the day. He probably could have handled it in a more diplomatic fashion but there's no way I'm going to comdemn him for it!

The fact is MrsDevere is that its true in quite a lot of cases unfortunately.

I say it quite a lot, and my point was proven when 2 threads simultaneously popped up, one concerning a man and one a woman both in a similar situation. The woman got supported, the man slated.

There's vicious double standard on this forum, I'm not saying you're one of the people guilty of that but it does happen. A lot.

SheppySheepdog · 13/10/2012 09:22

Erm of course YABU. Nobody should be hitting anybody. He should have called the police. I should think he will lose his job over this.

thursday · 13/10/2012 09:31

dear god, yes YABU. chucking her off the bus i'm totally fine with but the way he hit her was very upsetting. completely disproportionate. he wasn't fighting her off, he got up and hit a small woman as hard as he could. he wasn't in fear of his safety at that point, he was angry.

Was that aimed at me, Devere?

Yawn.

Narked · 13/10/2012 10:07

Well said MrsDeVere.

Kalisi · 13/10/2012 10:11

If he had done this to a man twice his size acting in the same way I would feel the same way definately. The fact this was a woman has no relavence, she was behaving in a vile fashion and he reacted in a vile way. It's the kind of responce that you risk when you behave like a cunt!

Kalisi · 13/10/2012 10:11

*response

AbigailAdams · 13/10/2012 10:15

Well said MrsDeVere.

His reaction was totally disproportional.

No, he probably would have smacked him a lot quicker!

Kalisi · 13/10/2012 10:35

But re-reading the OP's original AIBU, I do have to backtrack a little. The bus driver was probably a thug as was the woman. It wasn't the correct response in civilised society but you get what you give. Can't complain!

RumbleGreen · 13/10/2012 11:00

If it was a man the bus driver would have hit him a lot sooner and most likely no one would care however hard he hit him. If you don't want to be hit don't hit yourself threatning to beat the crap out of someones grandchildren/children isn't going to help either.
