To think Kate Middleton should have kept her tits in

Surely she can't be unaware that she's one of the most photographed women in the world and there are paparazzi everywhere.
I know in an ideal lovely world she should be able to skinny dip in privacy, but in the real world I think she is being a bit naiive to go topless and then be so upset when the pictures are published

She was on private property. Not only is this invasive for her, we should worry about the precedents that are being set here. One day, you, your sister, daughter, or your nephew could end up being "of public interest". If that happens, then you, sister, daughter or nephew could be the focus of long lenses.

Don't accept rights rotting away, just because you don't care about the first set of people it affects.

DialMforMummy · 14/09/2012 09:32

I really am not sure on this one.
Yes, she has a right to privacy and who gives a shit about her boobs.
However, she is now a royal, therefore it is NU to expect her to do/not to do certain things that are in line with her status.
You can not take all the good stuff about being a royal and then expect to have the same treatment as any other random fucker.

Morloth · 14/09/2012 09:36

There is nothing wrong with sunbathing topless, just like Harry didn't do anything wrong.

Status be damned, she hasn't done anything wrong.

thepeoplesprincess · 14/09/2012 09:36

YABVU.

It would be classed as a sexual offence if it happened to me (username notwithstanding!), and I genuinely don't understand why it's ok to violate her basic human rights just because she's married to a Royal.

QuickLookBusy · 14/09/2012 09:37

I really don't like this "she is now royal and needs to take the good with the bad"

It's as if people are blaming her, as if she deserves it because her behaviour didn't behave "royal enough"

Fgs sake people she was on a private holiday with her dh. I wonder what will be next? A photo of her having sex in the afternoon on topShock. Well that's not very royal behaviour is it, so maybe they should get a photo and publish that.

Even if she hadn't been topless and no photos were published, they were still being spied on by a stranger when they thought they had some time to themselves. How creepy is that?

It must be incredibly distressing for them to be confronted with the evidence that they are always being watched. And even more so for Prince William because of the role he believes the French paps played in his mother's death.

QuickLookBusy · 14/09/2012 09:39

her behaviour wasn't royal enough

EverybodysDoeEyed · 14/09/2012 09:39

I actually feel that publishing the photos is a way of saying to her, we don't care what you do, we just want I see your tits. I find it quite misogynistic.

It's a pair of blurry breasts. Why is it even newsworthy

Tressy · 14/09/2012 09:39

YABU, I hate the word 'Tits' that's all.

They should be able to publish them full stop unless she was in a public place and happy to be exposed to the world.

aquashiv · 14/09/2012 09:39

Upset why is she upset? Has she five nipples or something?
There really is no news today then.

Tressy · 14/09/2012 09:40

'shouldn't' not 'should'

Must stop posting in a rush.

TheDogDidIt · 14/09/2012 09:40

Victim blaming, anyone?

Yeah. That young woman should have been more careful about how she was dressing. Should have known there might be a predator lying in wait.

Asking for it, was she?

sooperdooper · 14/09/2012 09:41

They should leave her the fuck alone, she was on holiday, not doing anyone any harm, I think it's idiotic journalism and should be of no interest, it's not newsworthy

DialMforMummy · 14/09/2012 09:42

I agree it is not wrong, but it is not the done thing in the UK and as a results can shock some old fashioned gits people.
I do think it is wrong she was papped on a private holiday but the reality is that there was always a chance this could happen.

TraineeBabyCatcher · 14/09/2012 09:42

OMG it's an outrage. I'm completely in shock.

Kate Middleton has BOOBS Shock

TheBigJessie · 14/09/2012 09:42

Kate has probably been worrying about breastfeeding for some years. If she uses formula, she will be accused of letting us all down and setting a bad example. If she breastfeeds, she'll be constantly criticised for that, too.

wearingpurple · 14/09/2012 09:43

She shouldn't have to live her life on the assumption that, at any given moment, her privacy is likely to be invaded. Nobody should. So YABU, I think.

germyrabbit · 14/09/2012 09:44

lol only on mn would this become a thread about breastfeeding!

i think she should have been a little more careful knowing what the media is like tbh

NoWayNoHow · 14/09/2012 09:44

Seems like they're not "saddened" any more:

(From BBC)

"BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt says: "Royal officials say they accept the photos are genuine and the couple are furious."

"They believe a "red line" has been crossed. The couple cannot believe someone would take such photos and publish them.

"The officials stress the couple couldn't have gone to a more secluded location in France. They were a "young couple enjoying a holiday".

"There has been a significant hardening of William and Kate's response to the publication of the topless photos."

Good on them for getting angry - it is a GROSS violation of privacy, irrespective of who the "target" is. These were apparently taken on the estate of the Queen's cousin so they really couldn't have been in a more private location.

Some of the comments on this thread about Kate deserving it are just as vile as the photos, IMO. Smacks of victim blaming.

MrsKeithRichards · 14/09/2012 09:45

Who the fuck gave Anne diamond an opinion?

BobbiFleckman · 14/09/2012 09:45

don't they have wetnurses any more ;-)

I feel for her on this - she isn't someone who has courted, used and manipulated the media to her own needs and she's therefore absolutely not fair game when on private business on private land. Paparazzi and the picture agencies are bloodsucking misery merchants and I have a very, very big problem with them. I find it absolutely bizarre that the person who runs Big Pictures (long lens Di / Dodii on a boat; Diana dying in the tunnel etc) is a massive Alpha course ardent church attender. Does not compute in my mind with such an ethically dubious way of earning a luxury living.

TheBigJessie · 14/09/2012 09:47

DialMforMummy if this stuff happens to celebrities, what legal recourse will us commoners have if we could afford to sue a national newspaper in the first place ?

IWishIWasAFrog · 14/09/2012 09:47

YAbVVVVU for the reasons that everyone else has already said.

Charming thread title [sceptical]

QuickLookBusy · 14/09/2012 09:48

This is about so much more than her boobs.

It's about the fact some pervy disgusting excuse for a human being is photographing them, when they are on private property.
