I HATE CATS.

Just went to drop DD off to her friends house for the day. They have cats. Those expensive ones that cost thousands of pounds. (I only know this because her dad told me with great joy how he'd spent that much on them. All cats look the same to me, ugly little creatures).

Anyway, one of them was near my foot (unbeknown to me). I was holding DS so couldn't see the floor. Anyway I took a step forward and might have stepped on his paw, so it miaowed at me and made me jump and shout "omg".

Cue the dad's face of thunder and he didnt even say goodbye to me when I left, even though I apologised profusely.
I thought he was very rude, but I still cringed all the way home and am dreading going to pick up dd. What if I broke its bloody paw? It was jumping around as I was leaving, so don't know if it's hurt. He's very protective over the cats. He's like a mad cat man.

I totally understand hating cats. I detest them with an absolute passion.
I wouldn't worry that you'd broken it's paw - it'd have clawed your eyes out if you had.

MyBaby1day · 31/08/2012 06:53

Well to me they're just innocent animals and it's not very nice to hate them.

Badgerina · 31/08/2012 12:40

I hate cats as well. And we have 2 of them. Bastards.

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 12:52

DH trapped our kitten's paw in the front door the other week. I checked her over and she was absolutely fine. I doubt you've hurt it any more than someone standing on your toe would make you yelp then forget it five minutes later. I'm quite sure it wasnt deliberate, our cats get underfoot all the time. However, it might be politic to enquire re: the cat's wellbeing when you pick your DD up. Just to appease mad cat man.

squoosh · 31/08/2012 13:06

I'm not sure what sound a cat makes when someone stands on their paw but the high pitched yelp from dogs tugs at my heartstrings.

Claireabella1 · 31/08/2012 13:38

LOL 'mad cat man' he sounds weird and rude. I hate cats too - they stink of piss.

Latara · 31/08/2012 14:08

I have a cat. I stand on her paws quite often & her tail too - mainly because she races round (suprisingly fast considering she's blind in one eye!) & gets under my feet ON PURPOSE.

Luckily nothing broken yet though - on her or me!

PS. i don't understand people who spend £100s or more buying a pet - my cat is a £25 RSPCA Rescue Centre cat. Adopted her at 5 months - she's got long thick fur (brushed daily!) like a Persian but not a really squashed in face - she's got huge eyes & looks very cute.
However i have spent over £1000 on vet's bills because i'm a soft cow on an operation & meds to save her left eye; & to cure pneumonia (meds, xrays). Then vaccines, her fave foods, nicest cat litter etc etc....

To be honest i like all animals - cats, dogs, rabbits, birds etc, & i'd be upset if i hurt any of them by accident. FFS i feel bad when i step on a snail & the bastards eat my plants!!
I would have phoned the cat's owner to ask if it was ok.

Some of my friends aren't keen on cats so i keep my cat out of their way if they visit - that's what friends should do IMO.

Latara · 31/08/2012 14:12

Btw - my cat doesn't stink of piss. She's very clean - if she did ever smell it would be an indication that she's unwell & can't wash; so i'd take her for a check at the vets.

She did get sprayed at by a tom cat once; but she nearly killed him scared him off so that's not a problem now.
I get my non-cat owner & very fussy Mum to check for 'cat' smells when she visits - & i make sure the litter tray gets bleached & kept clean.

FunnysInLaJardin · 31/08/2012 14:14

I love cats, but the father sounds like a PITA. You won't have broken it's foot btw

forehead · 31/08/2012 14:40

I don't like some of the 'entitled' posters, who don't see anything wrong with the next door neighbour's cats shitting all over my bloody garden, but have issues with people hating cats.

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 14:46

My cats don't smell of piss. Hmm

Actually, my kittens smell of biscuits when they've been chillaxing in a sunny windowsill. I like to sniff their fur.

squoosh · 31/08/2012 14:47

I love when people describe cats as being clean when in fact they are just covered in cat spit Grin

SoleSource · 31/08/2012 17:30

My cat stinks. Must sleep in a bin somewhere. Needs a bath.

WelshMaenad · 31/08/2012 17:35

Oh, in defence of pedigree pet owners, my sister has two Russian Blues that she paid muchos dinero for, but she's allergic to cats, despite loving them, and there's something about RBs (and Norwegian Forest Cats???) that doesn't trigger her allergies. I've got a blue via she's purrrrrrdyful, but she was free Grin

tabulahrasa · 31/08/2012 17:43

I love my cats, I don't expect other people to...hate seems a bit strong though.

I wouldn't not speak to someone for standing on one of them, I do it at least twice a day, they're bloody easy to stand on, and they never learn to not walk in front of your feet.

frayededges · 31/08/2012 18:00

we had a dog once that rolled all over a dead seagull i hate dogs too

fridakahlo · 31/08/2012 19:57

My mums dog also used to frequently roll in fox shit

Latara · 01/09/2012 00:39

Actually a large fat Staffy stood on my foot on Wednesday; several stone of scary looking dog on my foot just because SHE LOVES PEOPLE & wanted a fuss. Bless her! (sort of)...

lawnofdelray · 20/09/2017 03:06

I know this is a zombie thread but I'm in hospital delirious with exhaustion with my newborn and the mental image of a yowling cat jumping 5 ft in the air repeatedly has cracked me up to the extent I fear for my stitches.

IAmNotAWitch · 20/09/2017 04:19

My cat gets stepped on all the time. I am pretty sure she thinks her name is either 'stupid cat!' or 'for fucks sake!'.

The dad sounds weird.

IAmNotAWitch · 20/09/2017 04:20

Zombie!

happyhillock · 20/02/2019 14:55

I absolutely hate cat's, neighbour's cat's are forever in my garden doing there buisness, the same goes for dog owners where i live they don't pick up there dog's shit, i dont own any animal's yet i have to put up with other people's.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 20/02/2019 16:10

I am a cat lover and am quite disturbed by the amount of posters saying they hate cats....i save my 'hate' for child abusers...rapists...murderers etc....
Cats are loving beautiful almost spiritual creatures....they used to be worshipped by ancient Egyptians.
