I HATE CATS.

Just went to drop DD off to her friends house for the day. They have cats. Those expensive ones that cost thousands of pounds. (I only know this because her dad told me with great joy how he'd spent that much on them. All cats look the same to me, ugly little creatures).

Anyway, one of them was near my foot (unbeknown to me). I was holding DS so couldn't see the floor. Anyway I took a step forward and might have stepped on his paw, so it miaowed at me and made me jump and shout "omg".

Cue the dad's face of thunder and he didnt even say goodbye to me when I left, even though I apologised profusely.
I thought he was very rude, but I still cringed all the way home and am dreading going to pick up dd. What if I broke its bloody paw? It was jumping around as I was leaving, so don't know if it's hurt. He's very protective over the cats. He's like a mad cat man.

Be prepared for your return. Obviously, the injury will require full body scan, MRI and so on. The cat will have insurance but there will be excess to pay.

You must feign all knowledge of the incident. You may wish to call your solicitor first, just as a precaution.

YABU for hating cats.

Dislike them by all means, but 'hate' is a bit strong ain't it?

But then, I am a mad cat lady so whatdoiknow!?

I really doubt you have caused any harm whatsoever, cats are very supple and can jump from great heights without injuring themselves.

If it is important that you maintain relations with this "delightful" man Hmm you could always take a token gift to apologise (in a faux jokey way) I can recommend 'Dreamies' which are cat crack biscuits and you can pick them up anywhere.

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 30/08/2012 11:27

FWIW - top tip for the haterz....

pretend you like cats, try and interact with them and they will view you with such disdain they will completely ignore you.

NameChangeGalore · 30/08/2012 11:28

Yes, I went to their house thinking "Oh yea!! Gonna step on some cat paws today! Can't wait" Hmm.

Yes I do hate cats. They shit in my garden (whole other thread), but the fact I apologised about three times whilst I was there and asked if the cat was okay shows I did care about it's health. The mother was very understanding and said it doesn't matter they're always getting under their feet, but the Dad just ignored me completely! That's just rude!

cat haters i would advise you to try make yourself believe you like cats. my old cat could sense people who did not like cats and she would give them extra loving attention :) she was such a spitful kitty character

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 30/08/2012 11:30

ahhh, the good ol' "cat shits in garden" debate.

Mumsnet Bingo anyone?

NameChangeGalore · 30/08/2012 11:33

I'm trying to find which cat it is. It's not a bengal cat. It's got a sandy coloured coat and blue eyes, with a greyish nose and ears.

dysfunctionalme · 30/08/2012 11:34

Cats like people who don't like them so I try to act like I do like them but they still swarm all over me Hmm

thebeesnees79 · 30/08/2012 11:34

I hate cats & dogs. I would never hurt a living creature but I hate them and that's my choice. yanbu to hate cats. maybe apologizing for standing on its paw would have been a good idea though?

Ithinkitsjustme · 30/08/2012 11:35

I really hate cats and while I wouldn't knowingly hurt one I would definitely like to encourage anyone who owns one to have it sterilised to stop them overunning the world!! Why do people feel the need to have so many of the bloody things? and if I ever manage to catch the cat that takes pleasure in killing baby birds in my garden I will dunk it in a bucket of water! If a dog did that to a cat it would be classed as dangerous so why should a cat be allowed to get away with it?

NameChangeGalore · 30/08/2012 11:37

......he didnt even say goodbye to me when I left, even though I apologised profusely.

Read the OP, I did apologise.

Brian - so you think I shouldn't care when the bloody creature comes and craps in my garden every morning?

Kayano · 30/08/2012 11:41

Is it a ragdoll cat?

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 30/08/2012 11:44

Ali First world problem n all that Wink

NameChangeGalore · 30/08/2012 11:45

I remember when I was about 4 years old and stepping in cat shit in our garden during the summer. It was inbetween my toes...My mum got so angry she tied loads of bells (dunno where she got them from) onto some string and then tied one end to a post in the garden and the other she put through her bedroom window and camped all night until she saw a cat and pulled the string to scare them off so they wouldn't shit in our garden.

OP posts:
NameChangeGalore · 30/08/2012 11:46

No, it's not a ragdoll cat. It's looks alot like a siamese, but not with such big ears. It's very slender with a thin coat. All I know is that it costs over 1K. Such a rip off.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/08/2012 11:47

No, it really isn't. Hmm

It gets a hosepipe of water to the face when I catch it, one of the reasons we don't have animals is that I don't want to clear up after them. I certainly don't want to be clearing up after somebody else's because they are too lazy to train the thing to use a litter tray.

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 30/08/2012 11:50

Oh right.

coldfuchsia · 30/08/2012 11:53

Alibaba, that makes it totally alright then, not abuse at all.

So glad mine don't go outside.

EasilyBored · 30/08/2012 11:56

I love my cat like he is my baby, and I still accidentally step on him almost every day. He likes to wind himself round my feet while I'm trying to hold my actual baby, make his milk and get the cat fed in the morning.

YABU for hating cats. Cats are brilliant creatures.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/08/2012 11:57

cold - so am I. Less shit in someone else's garden!

NameChangeGalore · 30/08/2012 11:58

Yes it might be that one coldfuschia. It looks just like this:

I don't mind cats. Some owners are crazy though. Total nut bags.
