I HATE CATS.

Just went to drop DD off to her friends house for the day. They have cats. Those expensive ones that cost thousands of pounds. (I only know this because her dad told me with great joy how he'd spent that much on them. All cats look the same to me, ugly little creatures).

Anyway, one of them was near my foot (unbeknown to me). I was holding DS so couldn't see the floor. Anyway I took a step forward and might have stepped on his paw, so it miaowed at me and made me jump and shout "omg".

Cue the dad's face of thunder and he didnt even say goodbye to me when I left, even though I apologised profusely.
I thought he was very rude, but I still cringed all the way home and am dreading going to pick up dd. What if I broke its bloody paw? It was jumping around as I was leaving, so don't know if it's hurt. He's very protective over the cats. He's like a mad cat man.

Birds are bastards too. Flyings cheating.

I also truly dislike cats and their creepy cold eyes. I am a dog person, bring on that unconditional love n affection, happy to see you every time you come in the room, big warm brown eyes stuff.

The Dad is a nutter to be so upset, it was an accident ffs! Not like you booted its arse across the room tempting kidding cat people kidding!!

I wouldn't have a cat if you paid me, never mind pay that much for one of them, but I wouldn't hurt one deliberately and I'm sure you didn't either OP.

litter traininghas nothing to do with it,my cat is litter trained but wont use litter tray,he goes outside.

My Nan's cat is a bastard - Its all sweetness and light when Nan's in the room and as soon as she has gone its hissing and swiping at people, then Nan comes back its all butter-wouldnt-melt again.

But I like non-bastard cats.

I like dogs and we were thinking about getting one, until we looked after a friends chiuauas for the weekend.
Stupid yappy things barked their heads off every time the smallest thing moved, they smelled manky and their unabashedly shitting and pissing everywhere (well, mainly on the puppy pads, but they had a fair few 'accidents'as well).
Watching one do a crap, with a stiffy, yuck, shudder.

OP - people like you are the reason I prefer animals to humans. They do not feel the intense hatred that humans are capable of. I dont particularly like children but I would expect the parent to be upset if I trod on one!

Simply apologise once again, say you didn't see it and offer to pay for any vet's bills if it is injured.

Theres plenty of research which shows that people brought up to respect animals score higher on tests of empathy (thats empathy for the cat possibly injured btw, not yourself).

I'M not just judging by one chihuahua , there were two, I don't dislike dogs but they were a very good reminder as to why we don't want one.
My mum had a dog and she was lovely but she did also smell terrible, esp.when she breathed near you and also used to bark her her head off.at the slightest thing .

before MN I never knew that fleas were a constant problem for cat owners. That flea thread on here was enough to be thankful I don't own cats and make me dislike them even more.

I've decided that I did apologise quite alot, so I won't apologise again when I pick DD up. It's ridiculous that cat owners should expect everyone to love and fall head over heels in love with their cats. I don't like cats, I'm not going to pretend I do.

I don't expect that at all OP. I don't think anyone does. Also if you treat your cat for fleas they are not a constant problem. My cat never had them after we got the injections.

any animal can have fleas dogs and humans included, fleas are not the sole reserve of cats.

They're not. I've never had a cat with fleas and growing up our family didn't even use any preventative treatment.

OP- I don't expect you or anyone to like my cats. But would it be unreasonable to accept that they have as much right to exist as any of us, be that human or dog?

I went and got DD - Not a cat or mad cat man in sight. I think they hid them from me.

Hate is a strong word..I love cats except when he's sat on my knee and guffs..oh man smells like those ones that burn ya bum hole mmwwaa!
