to be upset and offended by the constant 'small penis' gags on here!

I HATE, HATE, HATE the 'joke' on mumsnet (and in real life) about a man with a small penis.

'..don't worry I bet he has a small knob'
' just tell him he's got a tiny cock'
' big car, tiny dick'
' ha ha, he had such a tiny cock'

Shall we imagine if men said...

' ha ha, tell her she's got a bucket fanny'
' bet that woman has a really baggy fanny'
' make sure you tell her that her fanny is so big you can't feel anything'

It's horrible!! and very offensive.

It seems that it's generally not ok to comment on people's colour, size, scars, big nose, sticky out ears etc etc...but perfectly ok to take the mick out of something that no man can do anything about!

I should say that my DH has a small penis and it affects his life and his confidence and his sexual confidence so much (despite the fact that he is good in bed). Every single time I read comments like this I think this is why he has such issues. I am terrified for my 4yr old son that he may have same issues and may face the same abuse about something he has no control over.

aibu to ask for you all to pack it in!!

Constant? How much time do you spend on here then?

PurplePidjin · 25/08/2012 13:45

Pack what in? I've never noticed either your current name or comments like you've mentioned Hmm

Jodidi · 25/08/2012 13:45

I have never seen it on here. Are you sure you're not thinking of other forums?

justoffended · 25/08/2012 13:45

you can pretty much guarentee that if someone posts something about a man they've met on a dodgy date or a man who's been horrible to them in some way or rude etc...some mumsnetter will put ' bet he's got a tiny dick'

MrMiyagi · 25/08/2012 13:45

Men are fair game for vile abuse. If you don't join in with it you're a rape apologist. Or something like that, we had a big discussion on it last week and that was the verdict.

justoffended · 25/08/2012 13:46

(i've namechanged due to info about my husband) I've been using mumsnet for last 9yrs!

OP posts:
MissAnnersley · 25/08/2012 13:47

I've never noticed it either. I'm not saying it doesn't happen just that it isn't that noticeable.

Gay40 · 25/08/2012 13:48

It doesn't really bother me as my cock is massive.

northernmonkey · 25/08/2012 13:49

Ive been on mn for about 9 years now. I cannot recall 1 time that stand out where those sorts of insults have been used in that context Confused

I have however seen one or 2 threads where someone has asked for advice on their partners small penis...BUT THAT HAS BEEN FOR ADVICE not piss taking!

Think your being offended for no reason op and for that yabu

stargirl1701 · 25/08/2012 13:50

I have never seen this on MN.

aftereight · 25/08/2012 13:50

OP same goes for short men. Same abuse, same issues in real life as a result. Horrid.

Tee2072 · 25/08/2012 13:52

Of course it happens. Just like all women who do more than 50% of the housework are abused and down trodden. And all bad things came from America.

It's the MN double standard and it's not going anywhere.

I'm sorry your husband suffers because of it. Let's keep shouting about it. Maybe we can drown those people out.

MrsKeithRichards · 25/08/2012 13:52

Funny thing about offence. You can take it but not give it.

Never seen this on MN.

Nancy66 · 25/08/2012 13:56

I would say it's occasional rather than constant.

No more, no less than remarks about: gingers, fatties, skinnies, toffs, chavs.

HarlotOTara · 25/08/2012 13:56

Well I've read it on posts and agree with OP

WildWorld2004 · 25/08/2012 14:00

My exH was an arrogant twat & he has a small penis. He was the stereotypical male. Does that mean being offensive or just telling the truth.

I havent really noticed much comments about men & the size of their penis.

PenisVanLesbian · 25/08/2012 14:00

Constant? Never even seen one.
Maybe you need to get over yourself.

Olympicnmix · 25/08/2012 14:01

Yes, I've seen it. On a thread where a group of men, but one in particular, had behaved viley to a MNer in a pub restaurant and she was asking what should she have said, and one piece of advice was to crudely diss his member can't remember the exact phrase but the metaphorical equivalent to a knee in the bollocks - and I thought what a good idea. But I've also seen a post from a MNer genuinely worried about her dc's micro-penis and that rather changed my thinking.

NarkedRaspberry · 25/08/2012 14:01

I've seen comments about penis size on threads where the OP is about penis size. It's used very occasionally as an insult about men who have been arseholes. But men never make insulting comments about women's bodies Hmm

I wouldn't call it constant, but I'm surprised so many of you say you've never seen comments like this - it only took a few minutes to find these:

He obviously has a tiny dick (apart from the one on his head)

i bet your 5foot nothing with a tiny little dick and an ego to make up for it

It's odd how those with teeny tiny penises can turn out to be the biggest dicks

Maybe having one is the reason why they're a pathetic prick?

he deserves to be laughed at, tbh...he sounds pathetic
has he a tiny dick ?

Emmielu · 25/08/2012 14:09

Don't like it don't go on the site.

You can't go around telling people on forums to "pack it in" when you don't like a phrase that's being used by more than one member.

Yes ok you're offended by it I get that but yabu if you think every member will see this and stop saying it because it offends you. It may well offend others too but obviously not enough to make a thread about it.

SigmundFraude · 25/08/2012 14:12

OP, YADNBU. It's really poor form, I have seen it plenty of times on here.
