It's horrible!! and very offensive.

It seems that it's generally not ok to comment on people's colour, size, scars, big nose, sticky out ears etc etc...but perfectly ok to take the mick out of something that no man can do anything about!

I should say that my DH has a small penis and it affects his life and his confidence and his sexual confidence so much (despite the fact that he is good in bed). Every single time I read comments like this I think this is why he has such issues. I am terrified for my 4yr old son that he may have same issues and may face the same abuse about something he has no control over.

TBF Men seem to use it just as much, If not more, IME.

I'd not noticed it before, but have just seen a totally unnecessary escalating comment in a thread in Relationships which does exactly this.

It's tacky and unhelpful, and lowers my opinion of the poster.

I've noticed it, usually on driving threads - the tailgating thread the other day had a couple of such comments.

I don't get upset or offended but I do judge whichever MNer(s) post "small dick" comments, for unoriginality in resorting to such a tired old lazy cliche.

Probably because a large proportion of MN are women and wouldn't be commenting about other women in that way. If you went to a male dominated site you can bet the bias would be switched.

Small dick comments are part of life, like other derogatory comments about women's body parts. It's not "nice" but there are worse things and it's certainly not constant on MN.

YANBU I've seen it on here and I think it's just plain nasty.

I expect the posters who describe the size of their patner's penis would hate him to start describing the size and merits of her vagina.

1. Men don't tend to talk about the size of fannies.

2. This is MUMSnet - ergo, the majority of the posters are women, if not mums. I've had the misfortune to read some comments on male dominated sites and, believe me, they do not talk about women with the utmost respect!

Yanbu, it is childish and rude and you do see it a lot on here. It is usually in conjunction with a thread about a man being an idiot, but it doesn't change the meaning of the insult. If you look at the thread on aibu about the man who doesn't like fat women, it comes up on the first page several times
