to be upset and offended by the constant 'small penis' gags on here!

I HATE, HATE, HATE the 'joke' on mumsnet (and in real life) about a man with a small penis.

'..don't worry I bet he has a small knob'
' just tell him he's got a tiny cock'
' big car, tiny dick'
' ha ha, he had such a tiny cock'

Shall we imagine if men said...

' ha ha, tell her she's got a bucket fanny'
' bet that woman has a really baggy fanny'
' make sure you tell her that her fanny is so big you can't feel anything'

It's horrible!! and very offensive.

It seems that it's generally not ok to comment on people's colour, size, scars, big nose, sticky out ears etc etc...but perfectly ok to take the mick out of something that no man can do anything about!

I should say that my DH has a small penis and it affects his life and his confidence and his sexual confidence so much (despite the fact that he is good in bed). Every single time I read comments like this I think this is why he has such issues. I am terrified for my 4yr old son that he may have same issues and may face the same abuse about something he has no control over.

aibu to ask for you all to pack it in!!

There is a huge difference between making an off the cuff remark to a friend or on a forum and using it to deliberatly be hurtful to someone. And I don't personally see how an MN-er saying 'don't worry he probably has a small knob' would be hurtful to your DH at all.

You can't expect people to stop every comment that may offend someone, somewhere or none of us would ever say anything.

'You can't expect people to stop every comment that may offend someone, somewhere or none of us would ever say anything.'

Try saying that in FWR.

SigmundFraude · 25/08/2012 14:15

Sorry, FWC.

The thread yesterday/day before about a car with certain reg's driving was full of it OP, I suspect this is what you read. It does seem to come up on any thread critiquing someone's driving, if they're men they have small pricks and women apparently small tits. So thats me and the other half as shit drivers then Hmm

Haven't noticed it on any other threads though.

Viviennemary · 25/08/2012 14:19

Well I have seen a comment once or twice. And I agree it's not appropriate really. It wouldn't be acceptable if somebody made a comment about a woman's physical appearance.

JaquelineHyde · 25/08/2012 14:19

I've seen a few comments like that but if your sex life is affected by your husbands smaller than average penis I would suggest the problem lies in your relationship and not in what strangers are posting on MN.

I would also say that there are plenty of men out there who have a tiny penis but who also have amazing sex and wonderful relationships. Why would you worry so much about the size that your ds's penis might be, surely there are more important things to worry yourself about?

GobblersKnob · 25/08/2012 14:19

(Couldn't resist).

Yes, have seen small penis insults used, Not so much of the bucket fanny, but massive twat and huge cunt both gets bandied about a bit, does that even it out a bit.

MrMiyagi · 25/08/2012 14:22

"Emm why is it ok to make tiny penis comments but not bucket fanny comments."

Would be keen to hear the answer to this too.

The very first reply in that thread about drivers on Wednesday was about small penis syndrome. Credit to hopeforever

WorraLiberty · 25/08/2012 14:28

I must admit I've seen this once or twice on threads but that's about it.

It's not nice though.

I've heard it said a fair bit in RL when a man has a very nice expensive car....which is ridiculous really.

gettingeasier · 25/08/2012 14:31

I've seen it loads of times on here and never thought much about it.

Then I read a thread about would you be with a man with a small penis or suchlike and made me realise actually its not very kind

So on balance YABU

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 25/08/2012 14:34

OP the standard talk guidelines response to this is to report any posts you take issue with rather than starting a thread about it. Obviously you haven't reported it as the comments are still there to be found.

If it troubles you that much go explore MN, track down all the offensive posts and give HQ something to do on a rainy Saturday. I'm sure they'd love to be dragged away from their gin right now.

And btw I'm w bloke and I can't say that this bothers me in the slightest but then again I do have an enormous knob

24HourPARDyPerson · 25/08/2012 14:34

Yanbu. Op it's juvenile and nasty. Says more about the person saying it

OhNoMyFoot · 25/08/2012 14:40

Well I've done a search for 'small knob' and only 453 hits came up, I clicked on one it was about a cooker Hmm hardly constantly referred too.

OhNoMyFoot · 25/08/2012 14:42

Oh and I have seen references to bucket fannies as well

Nagoo · 25/08/2012 14:42

I've seen it.

An the answer here is the same as with a lot of the 'why does mn do this' questions. IMO its because posters are empathising with the op, saying whatever thy can to cheer them , usually her, up.

People say things to one poster that they wouldn't repeat to another all the time

FannyFifer · 25/08/2012 14:44

So are you really a bloke with a small penis then OP?Hmm

BlackberryIce · 25/08/2012 14:47

Everyone seems to be offended these days!

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 25/08/2012 14:48

Plus points to having a small knob:

Doesn't hit the toilet bowl
Don't need to check boxers have sufficient cock room
No need to adjust every time you sit down
Can stand closer to the bar and get served first
You don't pop trouser zips when excited

Am sure there must be more benefits...

WineGoggles · 25/08/2012 14:49

YANBU. I find it cringeworthy when I (very occasionally) read the small penis jibe as, no matter what the man's personality, he can't change the fact he has a small cock. It's the equivalent of men making horrible comments about women's vulvas or tits Sad
