To hate sharing a bed with DH

Whose idea was it for couples to share a bed???

I'm so fed up being too warm, shoved over to one corner, having DH open mouth breathing in my face, his side of the bed being a bit whiffy, being groped at 2 am because he's having a sexy dream.
Gawd I'm just bloody sick of it I had a double bed to myself before we moved in together and I miss it! I can't sleep all cuddled up I just can't!

I'd even go for a single, anyone else feel like this?

Yep Grin.
I've been in the single spare bed since the youngest was born, 6 years ago.
Bliss!

solidgoldbrass · 05/08/2012 08:49

I never much liked sharing a bed, either (am single so it's not an issue).
Have you got room/enough money to have separate beds? If so, why not talk to your H about doing so.

You are my hero :o

We don't have a spare room bed but if we did you wouldn't see me for dust!

It's not the sign of bigger problems dh and I have slept separately for years. That's why we're still married. Grin

Tangointhenight · 05/08/2012 08:51

I only changed the sheets on Thursday, he sweats like a beast in bed, all mt sheets have big dark sweat stains on then even after I hot wash

I think he would be hurt and think I didn't love him if I suggested singles, I do live him btw just hate sharing a bed with him.

Do you know Tango, I feel exactly the same. My DS is a pain in the bum and will not sleep in his own bed. We have let him sleep in my bed with daddy (who goes tot bed earlier than me) for ages (I know, I know-bad mummy!!) and I have slept in DS's bed. I love it!! I can have all the covers or no covers, the window is wide open and I don't have to listen to DH's nightly impression of an asthmatic 90 year old....he snores so loudly!!
However, we do know this is not good for any of us so we are going to be putting DS in his own bed tomorrow night. I am dreading it!! I have been seriously considering getting single beds!! I said this to my sister who wanted to know if I was turning into Dot Cotton, but why do we need to share?!?

DP is 6'5, gets too hot and kicks off blankets and snores- we have separate beds for sanity reasons- plus if someone has to get up to kids in the night, the other person still gets some solid sleep and can function the next day.
We both have a big bed to ourselves and it is wonderful Grin

Love him dearly but sharing a bed with a giant does not lead to good sleep and I wouldn't go back to sharing now!

get a bigger bed like a superking size, imo a double bed is for kids

MousyMouse · 05/08/2012 08:53

bigger bed and single duvets help in our house.

forevergreek · 05/08/2012 08:53

Do you have room to get rid of double and get a larger king/ queen size bed? That way you will both have loads of space

MrsKeithRichards · 05/08/2012 08:54

My mum and dad got two single beds a while back as my mum was fed up of farting etc but she would go into dad's bed for a cuddle and they'd end up falling asleep squished in one bed!

Tangointhenight · 05/08/2012 08:54

Exactly, why do we need to share??? We don't have sex at night anyway, tends to be evening or afternoon at weekends :o

Foreplay could be done anywhere, not necessarily in bed Wink

Bigger bed may be an option, we have a king size but I'm 5'10 and DH is 6'3 so it doesn't leave a lot of room for spreading out.

My mil has her own bedroom! All her own clothes etc. I'd love that. I miss my space. I don't mind sharing a bed but I'd like my own room to just potter/read/write in. We have an enormous bed though. With a brilliant matress. Yanbu

We have a king sized bed. Had to share the double in the spare room while bedroom being re-done and much prefer the bigger bed. DP is tall but skinny and I am tiny though and neither of us snore unless we've had a bucket of wine Maybe a super kingsize? Grin

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/08/2012 09:15

My DM has her own bedroom, because of DF's snoring. They might be divorced by now if this wasn't the case. Grin

I am a heavy sleeper and talk in my sleep, snore and thrash around. Blush

DP is a very light sleeper and I often end up on the sofa, which is why I'm looking for a nice sofa bed at the moment that's lime green, in my price range and isn't shit.

I literally can't even fart without waking DP up, plus I like to go to sleep with the radio on and he doesn't.

OP YADNBU! There's no good reason why a couple have to share a bed!

Iheartpasties · 05/08/2012 09:27

oh my god I'd love to have seperate beds, my dh snores and snorts all night long and I hate it!! I wish we could both have lush doubles, we have a nice queen size at the mo and I wish it was bigger. It's a tiny dream of mine. I hope one day to get a massive king sized and see if thats a bit better.

Tangointhenight · 05/08/2012 09:28

pinknose I like your theory at it was a 16th century mans idea, maybe this is actually a feminist issue????:o

My idea of bliss would be my own bedroom. Why do we not appreciate it when we are kids/ teens?

Luckily DH works nights so I only have to put up with him 2 nights a week but I rarely get much sleep those 2 nights. He likes to have the duvet pulled up round his ears, while I like to have one leg out. He thrashes about and snores like a pig. We have got a superking bed (6ft wide) and he still manages to take up most of it. Add in the 2am groping :(
