The Queen is there purely as an accident of birth. She has only reigned this long due to private health care and never having to do anything for herself. HullyGully I'm with you on this. Even leaving the Nazi links aside, I wouldn't want to have the royal family even if they had been staunch anti-fascists throughout the last century. I think that as a democratic society we should have moved on a bit from unelected heads of state.
I'd also rather see my taxes spent on keeping a few libraries or women's refuges open rather than a flotilla down the Thames.
