This morning, my son - the 15 year old

........ who cannot get out of bed.
........who misses two school buses a week because he gets out of bed at 0750 (bus leaves at 0800).
........who sits on the sofa and stuffs food wrappers down the side rather than walk across the room to the bin.
.........who goes to put something in the dishwasher, but when he sees it is full of clean stuff having just finished its cycle, stacks plates and cups up on the worktop waiting for someone else to empty it.
.........who puts clean clothes in the laundry basket rather than fold them up and put them away.

was downstairs in the kitchen today, dressed in school uniform, at 0730, emptying the dishwasher with a cup of tea made for me on the table.....
ConfusedShockConfusedShockConfusedShockConfusedShock

Is he on drugs?

Is there a major unreasonable request coming up, requiring girding of the loins......

Help!

Ohh This is very un-nerving!

There will be something he wants but milk the good behaviour for all its worth before the dream is shattered!

Rhinosaurus · 02/05/2012 22:15

I have just text my colleague saying I will be a bit late to work. Am going to leave a bit later tomorrow morning so I can drive past the bus stop while they are all waiting for the school bus to have a darn good nose to check all is ok.

Girlfriend. No doubt about it.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 02/05/2012 22:20

Rhino - you are so funny, your posts have me in stitches. 5 teenages - you need more than Wine.

He has me very nervous, very nervous indeedy... doesn't strike me as the sort to make this much fuss over going to a festival....

Herrena · 02/05/2012 22:20

Maybe your DS is doing all this on purpose to see how unnerved he can make you.

It's going well I see Grin

Frazzledredhead · 02/05/2012 22:23

Wink my legendary patience is holding on by a very thin thread - tell him lots of Mnetters Need to know!!!!

thegingerone · 02/05/2012 22:33

Can't you bribe one of your other Rhinoteens to get to the bottom of this? I was very close to my brother when I was a teen.....Oh shit that's how my folks knew EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!Shock

Rhinosaurus · 02/05/2012 22:35

Chipping, why thank you, I have had a glass of wine tonight, 2nd night running on a work night. And have a booked solid enuresis clinic tomorrow (I am a children's nurse), so have to stop at one glass.

As for frazzled, sorry but I am trying my best to find out whilst considering which way to go - a trade off of challenging him and risking the return of full on Kevin or doing the ostrich thing which could be worse in the long run.

Girl and festival combo I think....hence the need for a job to earn? Ohhh I want to know...loving this.

PleaseChooseAnotherNN · 02/05/2012 22:35

Good idea thegingerone! Yes bribe the rhino teens, the suspense is literally going to kill me.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 02/05/2012 22:41

My bet is he cracks under the strain of being good by Friday, another 48 hours should do it!!

AnAirOfHope · 02/05/2012 22:42

My vote is camping at music festival with a group of mates. With you playing taxi there and back.

Rhinosaurus · 02/05/2012 22:44

The only one who would grass is the girl teen, who gets up at 6am to straighten her hair every morning, as if you go to school with wavy air you will be ostracised and considered persona non grata.

Kevin (no3) and no.2 teen notoriously thick as thieves, teen captain sensible no.1 looks upon them disdainfully and won't even add them to his facebook.

Teen boy no.4 still to hit Kevin stage and still likes his rugby and sport.

All have Xbox and talk to each other from their rooms via Xbox router is on last legs with about 15 devices connected whilst texting down any parental communication to the olds who are far too geriatric to be on Xbox live.

Milk it for all it's worth!!

Start mentioning more jobs that need doing to judge just how desperate he is to please...

Sharpkat · 02/05/2012 22:54

It's a long weekend - is he planning on doing something and working up to telling you??? Grin

kindleholicsannonymous · 02/05/2012 23:07

DS says it has to be a girl "cos that's the only other reason other than having done something reeeeally bad that any self respecting teen would voluntarily do stuff" Hmm

When I asked if I could then suspect girlfriend activity if he started doing it he calmly turned round from filling the dishwasher after threats of hammer to xbox and said " I would tell you if there was a girl. It would be easier than doing stuff voluntarily" HmmGrin

Northernlurker · 02/05/2012 23:48

Rhino - your family sounds lovely Smile Kevin-ness and all!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/05/2012 23:50

Look on the bright side, if he was walking around in his pants at least you know he hasn't had a humungous picture tattooed on his back.

loving the idea of another DC dishing the dirt lol

musicposy · 03/05/2012 07:38

I reckon religion. I got religion in a big way for a while as a teen. I went round the house being all magnanimous and godly, trying to do good deeds for my sinful parents and praying for deliverance of their souls when they failed to recognise just how holy and perfect I was. Grin

If so, you're in for a more trying time than when you had Kevin. Wink

Ellovera · 03/05/2012 07:51

How far away is his birthday?

Am so sorry to hear this shocking news. (mum of 16 year old)

RabidAnchovy · 03/05/2012 07:53

Please please check for a small mark on the back of his neck....
/dons tin foil hat and shouts the invasion has started

takeonboard · 03/05/2012 09:00

Rhino I love the sound of your house, your teenagers and the exhausted router!
Hope you get some clues this morning when you drive by the bus stop...........

BaronessBomburst · 03/05/2012 09:13
