DH has just mentioned that his mate's brother-in-law has 3 kittens and he told him to reserve one for me. he knows i am kitten broody.

Depending on how many other pets you have, you may be BU. We have two almost grown cats. They drive me to distraction and I so wish I'd never agreed to get them.
They restrict our weekends away and, one of them is inconinent on my quilt. Frequently.
Retrospect is a marvellous thing. still, looking on the bright side, they should only live another 17 years or so.

i'm very excited but have had previous cats squashed (fatally and expensively) so am a bit wary and swore I'd never have another.

BUT

my very own cat (she was very special) was PTS about 10 years ago and I keep dreaming about her and miss her. The others are OK but they aren't mine.

it does worry me that we will have a bit of a menagerie. but lets face it. the house stinks of teenagers, dogs and cats already. one more won't make much difference will it?

Only get a kitten if you can have it insured and chipped. It's heartbreaking if they are ill or go missing.
