DinahMoHum · 04/04/2012 19:18

i love my kitten,

get one!!!

Sparklingbrook · 04/04/2012 19:21

Did someone say kitten? Envy

marriedinwhite · 04/04/2012 19:23

Our little kittens are now 7.4kg, 7.1kg and 5kg respectively. They cost at least £150 pcm, including insurance. They are gorgeous and lovable and divine but they are very expensive. You must consider whether you can afford it and whether you have access to affordable kitten care when you are not there. There must also be a debate about whether you put them down for the local kitten club or whether you register them with the private one. Remember this is Mnet Grin.

ariadne1 · 04/04/2012 19:25

They may look cute but they are quite destructive and very scratchy!!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 04/04/2012 19:30

Now if you had said puppy, you probably would have been hanged, drawn and quartered by now.
"Don't you know they're not a toy, they grow up, they need looking after, they're not an accessory?" etc etc etc.

which are all equally true for kittens of course so think carefully, they will wreck your weekends away, your carpets will never be the same, they will bring in dead rodents, they scratch, they bite, they mew all night, they biff your face at 6am because they want feeding, they take up most of the bed when they are stretched out, they arbitrarily go off their food

LST · 04/04/2012 19:32

Yes yes yes! :)

AgentZigzag · 04/04/2012 19:35

I've never even felt a twinge to do this before on MN, and I apologise in advance, but the OP has it when she says

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

at them with fluff, and meeeeews, and torch light, and sneaking in to sleep in bed with you, and ripping your curtains to threads, and trying to nick dinner off your plate...and...and...

awwwwwwww Smile

discrete · 04/04/2012 19:36

Beware if you go and choose one.

We went to pick up our new kitten this week and came back with two!

Dh keeps looking at second kitten and saying 'to think we almost left him behind....' (softie)

They are sooooo cute.

crazynanna · 04/04/2012 19:39

Grin Sparkling

Sparklingbrook · 04/04/2012 19:41

crazy why don't people reserve me a kitten ever?

Alambil · 04/04/2012 19:43

how will you introduce it to the other cats?

I'd love to get a companion for my cat, but wonder if it'll be a disaster.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 04/04/2012 19:44

If we got another kitten our stroppy madam of a cat would definitely leave home. She would be utterly outraged at the idea that we saw the need for any other pet but her.

Pinot · 04/04/2012 19:48

alright you lot calm down! Wink

OP you're asking the wrong question.

The right one is "Do you want a cat for potentially/hopefully the next 18 years?"

A kitten is a kitten for a blink of an eye in relative terms to it's lifespan.

That being said, have a look at my profile pics - I hand-reared day old kitten last year. They turn one 2 weeks today :) :)

Alambil · 04/04/2012 19:49

Pinot that's gone SO fast!

Sparklingbrook · 04/04/2012 19:51

I would love another cat, but I think Sparkling Cat would be very unimpressed. I can't see it working at all.

OrenishI · 04/04/2012 19:51

Only if you never let it outside unless on a lead. They shit in other peoples' gardens.

Pinot · 04/04/2012 19:51
peeriebear · 04/04/2012 19:52

I would LOVE another kitty. But my cat (a bitty boingy kitten two short years ago) is a stone cold psychopath and would not suffer an interloper to live. :(

DameHermioneEasterHarefield · 04/04/2012 19:52

they're never a year old already? my how time flies! sounding like my granny

AHEM.

I have been for a visit.........

OP posts:
DameHermioneEasterHarefield · 04/04/2012 19:54

oh and I already know about insurance, chips, vet bills, de-bollocking, mouse bits, wailing at breakfast time, pissing in random places, refusing all but themost expensive food, puking on the duvet and fleas.

OP posts:
Alambil · 04/04/2012 19:55

I actually "ahhhhhh"ed at the picture of Ruby and the kittens asleep....
