Why? Why do I always get sucked in by special offers on these things??

Bought a load when DS was newborn, they leaked everywhere so ended up binning them and buying pampers. Was sucked in by a half price deal again when DS was 1. Same problem.

Now DS is 5.5, ASD. I don't use nappies in the day although he still hasn't mastered the toilet but he needs them at night still. Nappies for this age are so expensive! I usually buy pampers but there was an offer in tesco so huggies were £3 when I usually spend £6 a pack on nappies (9 in a pack)

Last night I woke up covered in wee because the nappy had totally failed! These things happen. I showered myself and DS and washed the bedding. Just got to bed totally exhausted and there is wee again!!! I checked the nappy but it's leaked right out!

I'm so angry with myself for buying these rubbish things again!!! AIBU to ask all my friends to bop me on the head if I ever pick up a pack of huggies ever ever again?

Rant over. Sorry :(

Having had this discussion on more than one occasion over the last week (yes, my life is that exciting) - YANB even slightly U... I cannot believe they are so well successful (2nd leading brand) as they are Shite, no matter what age you use!

And I am always being sucked in on special offers (DC2 just arrived and have also suffered leaks and poo explosions due to the newborn pack you get a deal on and some special offers..) - will happily bop you on the head as long as you return the favour :)

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 22:33

Thank you skillbo! I'm just so tired and now I have to wash a wee covered child and change a wee covered bed before I can sleep Sad

No problem - hope you've got another brand for the rest of the night? Not sure if you could send a strongly worded letter to them and get your money back but guess pretty unlikely as they'd be out of business pretty quickly!

Hope you get some rest!

I always used Huggies when ds was small, never used anything else in fact. So when dh started working for KC and we got them for free I was highly delighted

And hubby still works for KC, and still makes Huggies and with that in mind, the fact that dh's job depends on people buying them and not being swayed by threads such as these, I shall stand up for Huggies every chance I get!!!!!!!!

lazylula · 19/02/2012 22:38

Of course yanbu if they do not work for you, for me they work great (these are the nappies). Pampers leaked on both ds' so I would say they were rubbish, but when I have used them on dd they have been fine so just depends on the child really. No nappy held ds2's poos in very well though, he often woke up with poo from his neck to his ankle (no exageration unfortunately) or it would be right up his back during the day as he suffered with teriible diarrhea almost daily.

ladymariner · 19/02/2012 22:39

And he works bloody hard and is bloody good at his job......

UniS · 19/02/2012 22:39

YANBU

they are rubbish aren't they. I used to think i was just not very good at paper nappies, but now I realise paper nappies were just not very good. Hope your usual brand work better.

Bingdweller · 19/02/2012 22:42

Hanaka88, another Huggies-hater here. Why oh why do I buy them on offer when I constantly have to change shitty vests? Have you tried Lidl Toujour nappies? The biggest size would most certainly fit your DS and they are a bargain as well as really good.

startail · 19/02/2012 22:42

Sorry ladymarimer but I hope they have improved because they leaked.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 19/02/2012 22:43

I liked huggies and it was pampers that always leaked with my dc.

It's wierd how people have such different experiences of the same thing.

I use Huggies. DD has a very skinny bum and pampers just don't suit us. Plus they have that horrible chemical smell. Huggies only leak for us if I haven't put the back up high enough or if I haven't made sure DD's bum is properly within the green lining.

Tempted to try the Lidl ones though!

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 19/02/2012 22:45

I agree . Huggies are dreadful things.

They may be ok for chunkier babies - but my 2 were very slim and Huggies just leaked . Totally unreliable I found .

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 22:45

Glad it's not just me who is sucked in by special offers. Seriously though it can't just be that they don't work for DS as he's obviously grown and changed shape a lot over the years but huggies have never stopped leaking :( no other brand tonight but I set my alarm to wake me up every hour to take him for a wee (he won't be impressed) I'm off to buy pampers again tomorrow!

Huggies nappies aren't very good, I agree.

But Huggies wipes are completely crap. They tear as you try and get them out of the packet, totally useless.

I only buy them when they are buy one get two packs free. They seem to have this special deal on A LOT. Perhaps they wouldn't have to entice consumers with super duper deals if their products were better designed!

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 22:47

See as well DS used to be a chunky monkey as a baby but now he's quite slim with a tiny bum. Unless huggies only work for slim babies and chunky children? Sad

Rapapa huggies wipes make my DSs skin sore even now :( I always use simple wipes.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH...........

Busyoldfool · 19/02/2012 22:50

They were both ok up to a point - it depended more on what "happened". With DC2 I used washables and they were brilliant. Never had nappy rash, got into a routine with the washing, rarely leaked and made great floorcloths for years afterwards!

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 22:50

Busy can you get washables for older children do you know?

Only just seen the lidle post...are they pull ups though? Because I'm still trying to encourage him to wake up for wees (not successfully but oh well)

Jacanne · 19/02/2012 22:57

Lol, I like Huggies - never get any leaks with them but I can't stand Pampers - they always seem to get really wet, really quickly. Totally agree about the Huggies wipes - you can't ever just get one out - it's either half of one or about twenty. DD has a very skinny bottom too.

I wonder if Huggies work better for girl babies?

blackoutthesun · 19/02/2012 22:58

what? huggies are great. the only nappy that dd doesn't leak in

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 22:59

Maybe jacanne. All my friends have little boys so I've never really asked about girls and huggies.
