Why? Why do I always get sucked in by special offers on these things??

Bought a load when DS was newborn, they leaked everywhere so ended up binning them and buying pampers. Was sucked in by a half price deal again when DS was 1. Same problem.

Now DS is 5.5, ASD. I don't use nappies in the day although he still hasn't mastered the toilet but he needs them at night still. Nappies for this age are so expensive! I usually buy pampers but there was an offer in tesco so huggies were £3 when I usually spend £6 a pack on nappies (9 in a pack)

Last night I woke up covered in wee because the nappy had totally failed! These things happen. I showered myself and DS and washed the bedding. Just got to bed totally exhausted and there is wee again!!! I checked the nappy but it's leaked right out!

I'm so angry with myself for buying these rubbish things again!!! AIBU to ask all my friends to bop me on the head if I ever pick up a pack of huggies ever ever again?

Rant over. Sorry :(

www.babykind.co.uk/bedwetterpants.htm would those be big enough?

not as expensive as I feared.

Panzee · 19/02/2012 23:01

Huggies are great for my boy. It was Pampers that leaked every bloody where all the time.

ladymariner · 19/02/2012 23:01

Yay for the Huggies lovers!!!

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:02

UniS they look fab! Thanks so much! Expensive but not in the long run!

I couldn't get on with Huggies at all either. I tried Pampers aswell which were slightly better, but I get Asda's Little Angels range now and they are better than the brands and so much cheaper.

UniS · 19/02/2012 23:03

micro fibre clothes ( pound land sold as cleaning clothes) work well as extra absorbency pads in motherease nappies/ pull ups.

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:03

Ladymariner. I needed a moan. Huggies dont work for my child. This thread isn't going to make your husband lose his job. Please chill out. Although leaking huggies nappies at night when I get about 3 hours sleep a night if I'm lucky with autistic DS may make me lose my mind. Sad

Really uniS? And do they stay in well? That's a fab idea!!

My DD is in size 4/5, I'm sure they do pull-ups in a 6. They cost about £5ish for a huge pack.

Marrow · 19/02/2012 23:08

I hate Huggies too. They leak and very often the filling inside is lumpy which must make it very uncomfortable for DS to lie on. I love Tesco's own brand and have never had one leak.

Lueji · 19/02/2012 23:08

YANBU

I quickly moved to Pampers, and then to Tesco's. Pull ups too.

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:08

Thank you bing I might check them out while waiting for the cloth ones I'm going to order Grin so glad I posted here now thanks so much everyone!!

my son was in nappies until he was 5, the asda ones are fab.......he should be getting free ones tho

ladymariner · 19/02/2012 23:09

Oh I see, this is a deadly serious thread where we all have to agree,....that'll be why it's in AIBU. Ok, have a moan, don't blame you if it makes you feel better, but don't expect me to agree with you......chill out!

inatrance · 19/02/2012 23:09

I detest Huggies, maybe it is a boy thing as my DS always, always ends up leaking in them. Mind you it's the same with poo, we ended up having to chuck several vests away as a result of using them. Angry Sort of negates the money saved really..

And don't get me started on Boots nappies, DH came back all pleased with himself for bagging a bargain and literally every single one leaked. I was not impressed. Should have taken them back really but I couldn't be arsed find the receipt.

Panzee · 19/02/2012 23:09

I found Boots crap too. And Tesco. Huggies are the only ones for my son!

Gwlondon · 19/02/2012 23:09

I like the nappies, even though they leak for us as well. I don't like the wipes at all, agree with the other poster.

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:10

Lady loads of people disagree. Most didn't say it was going to make their husbands lose their job though. Bit extreme.

OP posts:
Panzee · 19/02/2012 23:11

Oh yeah the wipes are horrible. A really 'dry' texture, like wet wood :o

Heavensmells · 19/02/2012 23:11

Another one pro huggies here. Never had a problem. Pampers smell like soggy weetabix when they are wet.

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:12

Apolcolypse I'm not sure about the free ones because he's only 5 and bedwetting is still considered 'normal' (I hate that word) for children his age. (although bed pooping and fecal smearing may not be and said rubbish nappy wet DSs only zip back sleepsuit so no doubt that'd gonna happen tonight now) Sad

Totes shite. For super absorbent night nappies go for sainsbo own brand ultra absorbent. Size 6 should be ok for a skinny minny DC. Promise you they're great.

hatesponge · 19/02/2012 23:15

YANBU, I remember Huggies always being useless (another mum of boys here).

Lidl nappies were fab though :)
