Why? Why do I always get sucked in by special offers on these things??

Bought a load when DS was newborn, they leaked everywhere so ended up binning them and buying pampers. Was sucked in by a half price deal again when DS was 1. Same problem.

Now DS is 5.5, ASD. I don't use nappies in the day although he still hasn't mastered the toilet but he needs them at night still. Nappies for this age are so expensive! I usually buy pampers but there was an offer in tesco so huggies were £3 when I usually spend £6 a pack on nappies (9 in a pack)

Last night I woke up covered in wee because the nappy had totally failed! These things happen. I showered myself and DS and washed the bedding. Just got to bed totally exhausted and there is wee again!!! I checked the nappy but it's leaked right out!

I'm so angry with myself for buying these rubbish things again!!! AIBU to ask all my friends to bop me on the head if I ever pick up a pack of huggies ever ever again?

Rant over. Sorry :(

The Asda wipes are also really good, they have a proper lid thingy that stops them going dry. I hate the Johnsons wipes, the sticky fastener thing (why can't I think of the word?) always comes off and the top wipe is always dried out.

ladymariner · 19/02/2012 23:16

How many have husbands making the things?

And I don't think I'm being extreme, but we'll have to agree to differ on this as on our choice of nappies!!

Beckamaw · 19/02/2012 23:19

I have had 2 girl babies and Huggies leaked EVERY time. And the wipes are total crap too. Another girl baby due in two weeks. Pampers purchased.

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:20

I can tuck. I love the asda wipes with the lid. Do tesco do them too in sure I remember buying lid ones from there :s

Brought the cheapest on offer and no difference IMO. Since the washing machine was on the whole time it never worried me anyway.

stressheaderic · 19/02/2012 23:31

We love Huggies for DD. I find them a bit bigger than other brands though so I only buy a 4.5 which is cheaper as you get more than in a pack of size 5s. They've never leaked on us, ever.
The tabs have ripped a couple of times which has never happened with other brands (tried them all) but other than that, I'm happy with them. Hope not to be buying them for much longer though

Sluttybuttons · 19/02/2012 23:33

With dd1 no nappy was any good other than tescos own. With the twins its the same. DT2 has really sensitive skin and if the nursery put pampers or huggies on for even an hour his bum is red raw. However dd1 uses the drynites and they do ok with regards to leaking but she does end up with a rash at the bottom of her back where it irritates her. My problem is i cant find any other night time pull up for her age

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:35

Thanks for all your help :) I have learnt that if I ever have a DD (though not likely as I don't get out enoughGrin) I should try huggies again. But for now I'm going to run to lidle and order some cloth nappies :)

Night night (I hope I stay dry Sad)

Huggies never leaked wee for ds1, but every single one of his "poo up to the ears" assplosions were in huggies.

Needless to say I am not buying them for ds2.

Their wipes are also crap, rip to shreds as they are pulled out of the packaging.

Huggies and Pampers nappies are both shite ime but i love huggies wipes, the green ones smell bloody lovely.

We've always used Tesco nappies.

DressingGownQueen · 19/02/2012 23:43

Huggies were always totally totally crap for dd. Leaked every single time. I ended up throwing out half a packet and never buying them again.

Even tesco value were better!

hanaka88 · 19/02/2012 23:52

Wee number 2 of the night. Brilliant.

The huggies are different in uk than Australia for some reason- they are thicker in Aus and tighter fitting- but a lot more expensive. And why is it so hard to buy wipes containers here? Or is it just me- I have looked everywhere and ended up having to buy them online!

kelly2525 · 20/02/2012 00:17

Another Mum of a boy here, everytime Ive tried Huggies, theyve leaked

Nearlycooked · 20/02/2012 00:43

I love Huggies - wipes and nappies. No rash, get the occasional leak but not so often that I think it is the fault of the nappy. Swings and round abouts.

Huggies always leaked with both mine. OP entitled to free nappies regardless of it being "normal", DS is over four years of age,see GP or Hv they can sort it for you

troisgarcons · 20/02/2012 05:33

I always found huggies to be far superior to pampers. If Im really honest - Asda own brand were the best on the market (well that was 10 years ago I stopped using nappies).

Pampers were shockingly ill fitting. Huggies also seemed to allow for much taller/bigger children than average.

pixelpeeper · 20/02/2012 06:52

I hate huggies. They leaked terribly for me, I did send a letter and was given a £2 voucher to buy more huggies. That went in then bin!

Voidka · 20/02/2012 06:57

Huggies always leak on both my DD and DS2 - rubbish and badly fitting imo.

SamuelWestsMistress · 20/02/2012 07:01

Leaking useless waste of money! The wipes are crap too.

SamuelWestsMistress · 20/02/2012 07:04

Forgot to add, the Lidl ones are the best I've found. So much better and cheaper than Pampers which I used for a long time until I discovered the alidl ones. I tried aaaall the supermarkets ones too.
