Why? Why do I always get sucked in by special offers on these things??

Bought a load when DS was newborn, they leaked everywhere so ended up binning them and buying pampers. Was sucked in by a half price deal again when DS was 1. Same problem.

Now DS is 5.5, ASD. I don't use nappies in the day although he still hasn't mastered the toilet but he needs them at night still. Nappies for this age are so expensive! I usually buy pampers but there was an offer in tesco so huggies were £3 when I usually spend £6 a pack on nappies (9 in a pack)

Last night I woke up covered in wee because the nappy had totally failed! These things happen. I showered myself and DS and washed the bedding. Just got to bed totally exhausted and there is wee again!!! I checked the nappy but it's leaked right out!

I'm so angry with myself for buying these rubbish things again!!! AIBU to ask all my friends to bop me on the head if I ever pick up a pack of huggies ever ever again?

Rant over. Sorry :(

Same here Huggies are rubbish. Whenever ds woke in the night as a newborn it was because the nappy leaked. Had to change him and his sleepsuit and the sheet of his Moses basket.

Use Asda Little Angels now. No issues. apart from megapoo occasionally

DonInKillerHeels · 20/02/2012 07:14

Well in this household we find Huggies to be totally brilliant, and Pampers plasticky rash-inducing crap. I think you will find it's all down to your individual baby's bum rather than the brand.

YANBU to hate Huggies on your baby
YABU to condemn them full stop.

HTH

ObviouslyOblivious · 20/02/2012 07:17

I love Huggies nappies and wipes. Pampers stink.

RuleBritannia · 20/02/2012 07:30

Well, why not use terry towelling nappies. They are reusable and all they need is a pair of plastic pants over them. Invincible.

Those of you who use disposable nappies are just following commercially oriented companies like sheep.

hanaka88 · 20/02/2012 08:15

Rule I am looking into it Smile the thought of cleaning 5 year old poop off a nappy in the sink is a little bit ew but I suppose I scrub it off my floor enough

Agreed they are crap! I just bought some as they were half price! I'm just using them in the day and pampers at night

Shutupanddrive · 20/02/2012 08:36

Huggies wipes are equally crap, I wouldn't buy them even if they were on offer! Supermarkets own are better

Snowboarder · 20/02/2012 08:39

Another Huggies hater here. They're no good at all for my DS, I've not had to change him twice a night and cut vests off him (poo explosion!) side we moved to Pampers. Weirdly I do like the Huggies wipes though, although I seem to be in the minority there .

GoingForGoalWeight · 20/02/2012 08:43

My DS is very skinny and Huggies were great, Pampers too. The Huggies Dry Night pyjama pants leak and my DS is still skinny. :)

Boomerwang · 20/02/2012 08:48

I haven't used them myself (yet) but I'm always hearing great things about Lidl 'Toujour' nappies. Give them a try?

Incidentally I've been gifted 4 humongous packs of Huggies so I hope I don't have those problems :s

RaPaPaPumPumBootyMum · 20/02/2012 08:48

RuleBrittania I live in a flat and have enough washing draped over radiators in winter thanks very much.

Also have my laundry in my kitchen and could not be doing with piles of wet and dirty cloth nappies waiting for washing, especially with two still in nappies. Already have a pile of dirty clothes sitting there!

Disposables are the only practical solution for me.

OBface · 20/02/2012 08:54

Total waste of money. Both wipes and nappies.

nomoreheels · 20/02/2012 09:04

I find Huggies Pure wipes absolutely brilliant. They're sturdy, smell nice & clean up DD's bum well. Asda wipes are ok too & certainly cheap. Sainsbos wipes are cheap but flimsy & tear. Anyhow, I hold out for offers & can get the Huggies wipes in a multipack for £1/pack.

Huggies ultra dry in size 4 fit DD perfectly & we have virtually no leaks. She's not a messy baby though - has only had one cold since birth & rarely a bad tum etc. I do hear about other babies who spew & poo like demons & I wonder if any nappy could contain that?

Asda nappies are ok but smell a bit chemical to me & are hard & papery. I've discovered Boots Active Fit & they seem great, good quality elastic - not cheap though. Pampers were crap for us when she was born, seems like they're always on offer round here so I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that they're the market underdog. I planned to try Lidl but someone said they've changed, & have a weird blue colour on them that smells odd. Can anyone confirm?

ComfortablyDumb · 20/02/2012 09:08

Huggies works for us. And I love the wipes too - I agree the green ones are fab.

Ponyclubmum · 20/02/2012 09:41

I have a DS who was wearing Huggies until last week, now (hopefully!) potty trained. We've never had a leaking problem with them, only the occasional tab tear off incident while putting them on.

We started off with Pampers when he was a new born - did try Huggies once back then but I thought they felt really stiff and rough for his beautiful precious little new born bum(!), so we stuck with Pampers which leaked regularly, and sometimes even burst and had some kind of jelly stuff leaking out of them? They stink too. No idea why we persisted with them, I think I just assumed that was normal.

I bought Huggies on offer when he was a bit older, and found them much better. He is a slim boy, and always has been. Don't know if that affects the fit.

I'm pregnant now, and not sure which nappies I'll get for this baby. If we manage to move to a bigger house I'll get washable ones (not enough radiators in this house!), but if not I might try Huggies from birth this time. Baby number 2 might be a totally different shape so they might not work as well by the sounds of it, we'll see!

SilverSky · 23/02/2012 16:38

The jelly stuff is the absorbing agent I think.....

GetOutMyPub · 23/02/2012 16:51

My sil swears Huggies for girls & pampers for boys.

However, I used pampers with DS1, till they changed them and made them thinner & made the fit skimpier, so DS started leaking.

I now only use Huggies with DS2 and much prefer them. ALso being a chunky 2 yr old, size 6 pampers are too small for him & only Huggies size 6 fit.

I swear all brands have skimped on their nappies over last couple of years. DS1 only ever got to size 4+ before he was potty trained, and although DS2 is slightly bigger stature, I can't believe he needs a size 6!

and now tht I have replied on this thread, I have come over all cynical Hmm
