To think DP should have shown some common sense

It snowed overnight here and I was at work early so went to the car at 6am and turned the heating on and everything with the idea that it would take 15 mins or so for the windows to clear. Anyway I was sat there and realised I had left a load of records in the house. I text DP (who I knew was up) and asked him to bring them to me (he often does this to me) and so he opened the bedroom window and just THREW the folders from the first floor window. They were not secure and so hundreds of important files and records just flew EVERYWHERE. I mean, in next doors garden, stuck in the tree, onto the road, they just went literally everywhere. I could only gather around 80% of them and am now in some serious shit at work. DP is refusing the accept that he should have any blame in it whatsoever. I'm so angry at him, if I'd have done that to his files he would go fucking mental.

AIBU to think he should acknowledge that he was being a twat at the very least?

Oh God I would go MAD! Of course he was an utter (and lazy) fool to do that.

But you should have got them yourself also.

troisgarcons · 03/02/2012 21:03

Dur! you forgot them. And notfor the first time.

Be that a lesson - shove everything on a memory stick.

PippiL · 03/02/2012 21:06

Hmm, you did forget them...but omg that was a fucking stupid thing of him to do. Better he shouted out thw window that you effing get them yourself than throw them.

You were both unreasonable

redexpat · 03/02/2012 21:09

OMG! I don't think it was an unreasonable request, especially as he was already up! He should totally accept some of the blame!

pushmepullyou · 03/02/2012 21:12

How exactly was the OP unreasonable Shock ?

He was a bloody idiot though

rhondajean · 03/02/2012 21:15

Omg I hope there is nothing confidential in the missing papers!

It's his fault, if he didn't want to do it he should have said no rather than doing a half hearted attempt, shouldn't he.

Corpse · 03/02/2012 21:16

Yes it was all confidential and I was also late because I had to spend so long hunting for them.

OP posts:
SeriouslySympathetic · 03/02/2012 21:16

So the OP asks a favour of her partner and that somehow makes her unreasonable? He could've said no, but instead he was a TOTAL TWAT.

AgentZigzag · 03/02/2012 21:18

I can't fathom how it's not his fault Confused

If he couldn't be arsed he should have said so, what a fucking stupid thing to do, especially as it's got you into deep shit at work.

nicknamenotinuse · 03/02/2012 21:18

I agree, he is a total twat. Lazy too.

rhondajean · 03/02/2012 21:19

Oh heck you are in real trouble then.

I can't think of anything that would justify him doing that and then taking no blame at all.

Mr corpse - you are totally out of order!
What will happen at work?

Rhinestone · 03/02/2012 21:19

Does he have any good points? Because he sounds like a complete dick.

HumphreyCobbler · 03/02/2012 21:19

Jesus Christ I would be livid. How stupid.

I also fail to see how it was in any way your fault OP Hmm

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 03/02/2012 21:21

Please tell me this is a wind up.

Surely no grown man is this fucking stupid?

Corpse · 03/02/2012 21:21

I have to produce 100% of the papers to my manager tomorrow or I'll be called in to disciplinary basically. I've not actually told her what happened, I darnt, she'd have a bloody fit. As far as she's aware I have misplaced them at home. Now it's dark and I still can't find 5 of them.

OP posts:
BillyBollyBandy · 03/02/2012 21:22

Absolute prick. YANBU

missmehalia · 03/02/2012 21:24

Tell him what the outcome of his actions has been. Get him to help, if your jobs in jeopardy then you may both be in the poo over this.

He's been a pillock.. but will not be the first human being in creation too stupid to apologise and do something to help clear up the mess. Sometimes people just won't apologise, you just have to suck it up. (Or clean the toilet with his toothbrush.)

minibmw2010 · 03/02/2012 21:25

So rather than just shut off the engine you texted to him inside the house ?? Yep his actions were stupid, but you were lazy and unfortunately now you have to face the bigger picture at work.

ILoveOnionRings · 03/02/2012 21:27

Corpse is your a name the status of your husband now.

I agree with Rhonda if he couldn't be arsed then he should of said no or at least texted back - what an utter knob. Can he actually say what the hell he was thinking by throwing them out of the window? I would have been fecking furious and would still be fecking furious. I am outraged for you - just asked DH his answer 'primarily (yes that was his first word) he would not have done it, the man is an idiot - did he not even go out and help pick them up'

xkittyx · 03/02/2012 21:28

Err, OP has said that it's something he does as well!
That aside, if my husband jeapordised my entire fucking career over me being a wee bit lazy..... well he wouldn't because he's not an arse.

pooka · 03/02/2012 21:29

She asked him for a favour. If he didn't want to bring the papers down he could have just not done it. Or texted back, presumably.

To just chuck the files out of the window is stupid beyond belief.

I'm finding it difficult to work out how this was OPs fault. I think there must be some parallel mumsnet.

TooEasilyTempted · 03/02/2012 21:29

Why didn't you just get out of the car and get them yourself? Because you wanted to stay in your toasty warm car while your DH ventured out in the cold to deliver the files to you?

xkittyx · 03/02/2012 21:30

Well that's her been shown now isn't it!

rhondajean · 03/02/2012 21:32

Oh jeez corpse, not a good day, I think his denial is all bluster tbh!

I can't think of anything else to say, I'm so sorry, I really hope you find them.

PippiL · 03/02/2012 21:32

Totally his fault, I just would have got them myself.

In my house if you want a job doing, you generally have to do it yourself!

Really hope you get them all back though.
