Neighbour is beginning to annoy me .

we moved away from neighbours from hell. It's a relief. I love our new house.

We have a garden , it's larger than the neighbours , but parallel to theirs .

Before we moved in the knocked down the fence so they could fit a giangantic trampoline in the back garden. It sort of took a few inches of my garden.

Had told neighbour that we will be replacing the fence in summer.

At new year party , neighbour pops in . And tells people we have a shared garden . Wtf ?. Now her crappy double swing set it half way into mine and blocking acces into my shed.

I've moved it back into her garden several times. Not only is it really annoying I have to walk around the damn thing to get into my shed , she has started talking about what we will do about our shared garden.

It's not a shared garden. It's two gardens that happen to have a fence missing because she broke it.

And her dog shits all over .

So I'm planning to get the fence rebuilt and have the garden landscaped and decked by may .I will not tell her , but just do it . Aibu ?

Jeez cheeky bitch. I would be having words and rebuilding the fence for sure!

AFuckingKnackeredWoman · 09/01/2012 17:35

just do it. i would have a copy of the official boundaries hanging around to show her if she kicks off

VeronicaSpeedwell · 09/01/2012 17:36

Confused Definitely get that fence up a.s.a.p.!

Rhinestone · 09/01/2012 17:37

Put it in writing to her that you do not have a shared garden and you will be replacing the fence that she knocked down and are taking legal advice as to whether she is liable for the replacement.

droves · 09/01/2012 17:39

I sort of feel bad , because she is actually quite nice ( apart from this I don't have any hassle from her) .

I haven't kicked up a fuss because she's nowhere near as bad as the last neighbours.

I'd just like my garden sorted for dd4 to play in . And to look nice. We spent a fortune doing the house up , and have done the front garden /driveway ...if this is done then it's all finished. I don't get why she insists it's a shared garden ? . It's not.

Yes, have a copy of the deeds or whatever it is that shows boundaries about.

But, but - what do you say when she starts talking about what you will do with your shared garden? You must say something. Why have you not used that as an opportunity to say 'well, the fence'll be back up in a couple of months so it's not really a shared garden'?. Or do you agree/say nothing. Cos if so, it's a leetle bit your fault. Only a leetle Grin

suburbophobe · 09/01/2012 17:39

I wouldn´t be waiting till May, that´s for sure! The weather is mild enough to do it now (before any frost starts).

The longer you leave it the more she will "reckon" you are o.k. with it.

And what is this? She "popped in"??!

You need to nip this in the bud!

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 09/01/2012 17:41

Does she pick up the poo?

droves · 09/01/2012 17:41

It's a bit depressing having to pick up dog mess . I like dogs , but can't be bothered cleaning up after one , so I don't have one. I don't see why I should have to clean up after hers.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 09/01/2012 17:41

YANBU. You would be doing nothing wrong, so just get on with it. She sounds like a cheeky cow.

CatpussRoastingByAnOpenFire · 09/01/2012 17:43

Shock The cheek of her!!!

droves · 09/01/2012 17:44

I have said repeatedly ,that it's not a shared garden ,and the fence will be going back up . Dh told her he's getting an 8 foot one !Grin

It's like she doesn't hear or something.

As for what to do , I've told her I'm getting my garden done before the summer . She just smiles and blinks . Then goes to her default setting , " our shared garden " ( aaargggh).

OP posts:
BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 09/01/2012 17:45

You def need to speak to her it's not on at all. U can't be expected to clean up after her dog!

Go round, right now and explain how you feel and what your planning to do.

She's a strange woman

cornsilxksxi · 09/01/2012 17:47

just get the fence booked in, tell her when it is and ask her if she wants to go halves Wink

SuePurblybilt · 09/01/2012 17:48

Oh, then she's batshit and you should just carry on Grin. I wouldn't tell her in advance in case she thinks that the two of you can make plans for 'your' decking etc.

droves · 09/01/2012 17:48

Right I'm going to make dhs dinner and then go move the crappy swing set .

Strangely she never comes out when I move it , but it's nearly always moved back by morning . Thing she must move it back by stealth when I'm in bed asleep. < grr>

OP posts:
Gigondas · 09/01/2012 17:49

I wouldn't ask for half unless it's her duty to repay fence as will make her think garden even more than she does already.

Did she "share" it with previous occupants

droves · 09/01/2012 17:50

That's what I thought sue. I did buy a barbecue in summer , and she started talking about our barbecue parties we would have.

She nuts isn't she ? .Am I living next door to single White female 10 years on? .

OP posts:
droves · 09/01/2012 17:51

No she broke the fence just before we moved in . It was intact when we viewed the property , the previous tenants had moved out.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 09/01/2012 17:53

When new fence up make sure both swing and trampoline back on her side of garden line - obvious but sounds like will continue to take the piss.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 09/01/2012 17:53

Can you not get a temporary fence to stop the dog and the migrating swing set, just until you build the real one in May?

cornsilxksxi · 09/01/2012 17:53

so she took the fence down? Shock Definitely check who it belongs to.

SaraBellumHertz · 09/01/2012 17:55

Put the fence up now. She is mad.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 09/01/2012 17:55

Get the fence back up pronto.

droves · 09/01/2012 17:56

She's since got rid of the trampoline , but before she did sshe told e she was going to move it over the other side of my garden near my driveway. I did tell her no way ...so she got rid of it.
