Neighbour is beginning to annoy me .

we moved away from neighbours from hell. It's a relief. I love our new house.

We have a garden , it's larger than the neighbours , but parallel to theirs .

Before we moved in the knocked down the fence so they could fit a giangantic trampoline in the back garden. It sort of took a few inches of my garden.

Had told neighbour that we will be replacing the fence in summer.

At new year party , neighbour pops in . And tells people we have a shared garden . Wtf ?. Now her crappy double swing set it half way into mine and blocking acces into my shed.

I've moved it back into her garden several times. Not only is it really annoying I have to walk around the damn thing to get into my shed , she has started talking about what we will do about our shared garden.

It's not a shared garden. It's two gardens that happen to have a fence missing because she broke it.

And her dog shits all over .

So I'm planning to get the fence rebuilt and have the garden landscaped and decked by may .I will not tell her , but just do it . Aibu ?

As long as the fence is 6ft or under she can't complain / object - Go For IT!

SuePurblybilt · 10/01/2012 14:52

No, I wasn't suggested she SHOULD be allowed to have a say in the colour - as a right or whatever.

It's like giving a toddler the choice between which coat to wear - they think they're in charge because they get the choice. You're in charge because you've got them to voluntarily put on a coat.

droves · 10/01/2012 20:43

Brilliantly put sue , you said it much better than i posted !

*Keep a diary of every single thing she does, times dates, what was said, who you reported it to, witnesses, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME

(had neighbour from hell and case went to court)

IDontDoIroning · 11/01/2012 09:17

You took on tenancy if a house with a fence. Neighbour damaged fence do you now have a garden with no fence.
I can't see the landlords logic about replacing it. They have a legal duty to you to ensure you have privacy and security in your home. Quiet enjoyment or something I think it's called. Especially if the dog is roaming free messing everywhere and stopping your dc playing and if you don't feel safe with open access from next door.
Your neighbour is breaching your rights and she and the landlord must remedy that.
The council has to deal with her and fix your fence.
They may not know about her or they may have a file a foot thick but I think you must complain to your housing officer so get the ball rolling.
It might be that if they consider fence to have been maliciously damaged that will have to charge someone ie you or her, which is what my local council does.

They should be much more helpful to you than they are currently and I wonder if they don't appreciate the situation fully. Agree with the others who say pester them and if that fails enlist your councillor.

UPDATE :

Just had a word with the neighbour . I told her DH has asked his friend the landscaper /handyman to pop round and have a look at the garden to quote for the fence.

Also said i wasnt sure about how high we should ask for, because of the girls bedroom window being downstairs ect. She said " go for a high one , and then offered half the money towards it ! "

Grin Grin Grin

Cant belive it ! , fantasic ! , just did a victory lap around the kitchen ! .

She must be a MN , and saw the thread or something ?

Anyway , thanks everyone , i wouldnt have had the guts to bring it up , if you hadnt have advised me

Thanks

Maybe she has been trying to hurry you along to actually erect the fence, by moving her stuff over, and letting her dog poop!

Shock
ArtVandelay · 11/01/2012 13:43

I am Shock but thats great! What a turnaround :)

kelly2000 · 11/01/2012 13:53

I would actually double check you do not have a shared garden just in case the sellers misled you. then I would move her stuff, and put up the new fence, and tell her to please not treat you garden as if you share it.
I would also put up a temp, chicken wire type fence.

kelly2000 · 11/01/2012 13:54

sorry had not read ops last post

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/01/2012 14:07

Wow - don't people surprise you! I suppose this underlines why it is always better to talk to people first.

Well done, and hope all goes well with the fencing.

needanewname · 11/01/2012 14:26

Yay no need to move after all Wink

TimothyClaypoleLover · 11/01/2012 14:32

That is great news droves. Well done for sorting it. Just need to make sure she pays up now although she probably offered half as she knows she was in the wrong in the first place. Does that mean you can get the fence up sooner now you only have to save for half?

UterusUterusGhali · 11/01/2012 14:51

I love it when I start reading a thread and it's resolved before I get to the end.Grin

Woo hoo!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 11/01/2012 15:57

I also love it when an OP comes back on the thread and tells of a resolution or revolution, depending on outcome. Grin

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 11/01/2012 16:36

When the fence is up, and the money is in your hand, come back and tell us. untrusting, rat smelling, suspicious type here

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 11/01/2012 16:36

suspicious too!

Curiouser and curiouser, but Grin at the easy and happy outcome!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 11/01/2012 16:57

Oh yes, you do HAVE to come back and tell us if she cuts a human-sized catflap into it...

droves · 11/01/2012 20:16

Veronica , Shock dont say that .

No money has been given over , but as soon as we have a quote I will inform her of the price . I'm not bothered if she gives money toward the fence or not , just glad that she has done an 180 turn on it iykwim ? .

Think we will be able to get it done a bit sooner than I hoped , as have decided it's not a priority to get everything done at once . The fencing will be done before everything else ,the rest can wait .

Better make it soon incase she changes her mind lol !

I'm still convinced that she's a mner.

Need proof , will casually drop things into conversation next time we speak , just to see if she reacts to it.

Need a mums net word to use , or a saying .

Have to think about it.

OP posts:
FutureNannyOgg · 11/01/2012 20:25

You need to throw words like "fanjo" into the conversation and see how she reacts.

GeneHuntsMistress · 11/01/2012 20:26

Offer her a Pombear and see how she reacts

picnicbasketcase · 11/01/2012 20:37

Offer her a nice ham sandwich
