Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, teaandcake, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Valium I hope you have a fab time, let us know how it went when you get back Smile

Tiredmumno1 · 05/04/2012 12:38

Last idea I promise Grin lemon sorbet I've cream, zesty bits sprinkled on top with wafers, or fresh fruit with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and wafers. Melt in the mouth choccy souffles with vanilla ice cream?

gomummygo · 05/04/2012 18:39

On the road picking things up but THANK YOU SO MUCH, I lurve you Tiredmum!!!!

Tiredmumno1 · 05/04/2012 19:30

Well I lurve you as well Gomummy Grin

I am guessing I didn't help but the thought was there haha Grin

gomummygo · 05/04/2012 20:25

You did help, quite a lot actually Tiredmum! Some of the links won't load for me but that BBC site is great, I am going to use those goat cheese souffles on there with a prawn cocktail for an app.

Just bought a big tenderloin so will do that up Wellington so that I can do most of the prep beforehand and refrigerate. Standby roasted potatoes, asparagus w/ balsamic & goat cheese, sweet pepper ragout, caprese salad. All things I can do in a big batch and almost all prep beforehand.

Do you know how to make that lemon sorbet ice cream? Sounds like it would be great over a fruit tart/flan with the zesty bits on top? I always have lemons to hand, not sure if there is anything out of the ordinary that I would need to get whilst in town?

Do you think it needs soup? Ack, just realized I only have place settings for 16!

Tiredmumno1 · 05/04/2012 21:20

Gomummy not sure on how to make the ice cream I shall have a check and get back to you

You shouldn't need the soup although it does depend on whether everyone likes goats cheese and prawns?

Tiredmumno1 · 05/04/2012 21:30

would this help?

or this?

Tiredmumno1 · 05/04/2012 21:32

You are so brave Grin I am wishing you all the luck you sound so busy, and it really is up to you whether you have a vegetarian soup waiting in the wings, just in case WinkGrin

gomummygo · 06/04/2012 02:54

Yes it does, thank you! :) Definitely going to have something that I hope resembles lemon sorbet over warm fruit tart, with a few homemade chocolates. Have spent the evening spying on my efforts in the freezer to see if it is ready for a taste test yet. Having to lift the lid with my left arm, lol....I was not warned that trying to make this stuff would actually make my arm fall off!!! (So THIS is why people have those machines!) Having no idea what it is supposed to taste like, it tasted quite nice before it was banished to the freezer. Maybe it is horrible. It tastes sort of, I don't know, refreshing? Very lemony, not too sweet, not creamy like I think of ice cream. I really like it. Fingers crossed.

Am thinking a roasted red pepper soup that I might not use but have ready just in case. I don't think we have any vegetarians but there are a few I have never met so better safe than sorry.

Not brave at all! I normally love love love to feed people but always have the menu done well in advance and plan all the ingredients....but what I had planned just doesn't work for that big a group! I am not so good with short notice.

So what are you up to this long weekend? (Assuming it is a long weekend there as well?)

Teaandcakeplease · 06/04/2012 07:54

Wow GoMummy 18 guests! Sounds like you have it all under control with TiredMum's help Smile I hope it goes swimmingly.

No big plans here. Fly up to Scotland to stay with pil on Sunday for 7 days. No doubt I shall post if they're driving me potty Wink

Tiredmumno1 · 06/04/2012 12:58

Gomummy it seems like you have it all under control, I do think you are doing the right thing with the soup, just in case, then at least you are prepared Smile now I want to know about the lemon sorbet Grin I hope it is ok.

Will be thinking of you Tea. What an amazing DIL they have to do that, I hope they appreciate your efforts, travelling with two young DCs.

Have a great trip Valium! :)

Tiredmum the lemon sorbet tastes great to me, though I don't have anything to compare it to! Grin Hope you are all feeling better soon. If the weather is getting you down, take a bit of comfort in the fact that my Western rellies just got 25cm & 30cm of snow dumped on them. SO glad it wasn't us, I am sick to death of winter. Are tulips coming up yet over there?

I will enjoy it, thanks Elmo! Now that I have a menu plan B I'm fine, just the short notice that gets me, I like loooong range planning. How is DD doing these days? Getting built up a bit?

Well, my day is all about fitting enough table/chair space into the kitchen/dining room for Easter! I have DS counting cutlery and place settings, lol. He is currently explaining to the cat who each utensil is for. And for some reason all the people he does not know only get salad forks?!? Hmm

Did the big snowstorm go as far south as you?

Teaandcakeplease · 06/04/2012 20:34

Next time ExH needs to take them. I bet he'll try and wriggle out of it. I'm going to lay the smack down though if he doesn't.

gomummygo · 06/04/2012 21:41

How do you actually do it, Tea? Do you travel through the night or just make frequent stops, or is there another strategy?

Teaandcakeplease · 06/04/2012 21:59

Flying. Trying to keep 2 young kids well behaved on my own at check in, on the flight and bag collection. Deep joy! FIL will collect me at the other end. At least the flight is an hour only.

Tiredmumno1 · 06/04/2012 22:07

Gomummy I am so glad it tasted alright Smile I hope everything goes just perfect for you, I think you have handled it great, you really are Monica Grin, good luck with it all, don't forget to tell us how it went after Smile

Tea poor you, I do hope it goes smoothly, bribe the kids to behave Grin buy some ear plugs for the plane, and relax Smile

gomummygo · 06/04/2012 23:10

Wow Tea. I am in absolute awe and utterly impressed that you would do that, your ILs are soooooo blessed to have you for a DIL!

Thanks Tiredmum, fingers crossed! I will report back. DH is now teasing me that everyone we don't know will turn out to be an ovo-lacto-vegan or something to that effect. Thinks he is funny.

Tiredmumno1 · 07/04/2012 01:45

Haha at least he had a sense of humour Gomummy Grin

sorry you, missed your message, then recipes did look yummy didn't they Smile hope you are well

Teaandcakeplease · 07/04/2012 07:07

Don't be too impressed. I haven't trudged up to Scotland since last Easter. Which if you remember, I did not enjoy. Hoping this year is better.

Off to a good friends wedding today. DD is in the bath right now I'm sitting on the toilet (lid down) chilling with her with Classic fm in the background on the radio, Pachabel's cannon playing right now. Lovely Smile DD is preening herself before the wedding I think Wink

gomummygo · 07/04/2012 16:49

The fact that you're even willing to do it is impressive Tea. Hope it goes as smoothly for you as possible. Love Canon in D, btw. Enjoy the wedding!

Probably won't get back on now for a couple of days so just wanted to say Happy Easter everyone!!! [busmile]

Teaandcakeplease · 07/04/2012 21:01

Wedding was great. Did you see the extra comment I put on there tonight? I've pasted it below:

Well what can I say about today. Highlights? Me trying to play an audiobook for DS in the service but the headphones weren't plugged in enough and I blasted loudly the beginning of The Three Billy Goats Gruff into a quiet church service. Cue me blushing crimson and a friend turning it down, as I couldn't work out how to do it! Or my other particular favourite from today was ds in the group photos finding a waist deep stagnant pool and falling in it. So he wafted a pleasant aroma around the table at the reception and was trouser and shoe less until we came home. Oh yeah leave your dignity at home if you travel with me my friends! Still I can remind him of this particular gem when he is older! Grin

Teaandcakeplease · 07/04/2012 21:01

"there" meaning facebook Smile

Tiredmumno1 · 08/04/2012 19:56

Happy Easter Buddies Smile

Tea hope you are getting some relaxation in, have fun Smile

CheerfulYank · 08/04/2012 20:58

Hi everyone! I've missed you! :)

That made me LOL Tea.

We usually go to my husband's aunt's for Easter, but I am still feeling queasy from the migraine/carsick ride back from the zoo on Friday, so they went without me. My house is a mess because the floor is done :o :o :o and we are moving everything back in, so hopefully I'll get to work on that.

Things with DBoss are no different, other than he is being v nice to everyone else. Maybe he just needs someone to hate? I'm well and truly over it now, just feel pity.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday; I'll "hop" back later to catch up. (See what I did there?! :o)
