DD is being Christened on Sun 11th, and I think there will obv be a Christmas theme at the service (its part of the family service). Having about 30 people back here for buffet lunch party - will it be a real let down if there's no tree/no decs? Its hideously early, but am thinking of getting it up..... naff?

Mine went up on Saturday!

ViviPru · 28/11/2011 14:19

Confused I was thinking about this coming weekend... Am I being a bit previous?

deliakate · 28/11/2011 14:22

I think I'm questioning this as I was brought up in a strictly christmas eve household....

traditional over here for the tree to go up on are just after thanks giving, I would never leave it as late as the 10th - what's the point in all that effort for just two weeks?

Seona1973 · 28/11/2011 14:23

we tend to put ours up at the start of December so the 10th isnt early at all

yes, mine goes up the first weekend of december, and need to remember to tell ds santa won't be coming for another 21 sleeps, as got up the following day after tree went up and asked why santa had not been, bless him

MyMelody · 28/11/2011 14:24

10th December sounds pretty average to me, not early

picnicbasketcase · 28/11/2011 14:25

I can't do mine until the weekend before Christmas due to December birthdays in the family, it's not very fair if they get overshadowed by everything going all Noel-ified.

TroublesomeEx · 28/11/2011 14:26

Ours goes up first Friday in December, whatever the date might be.

Mine'll be going up on 3rd Dec, so we can get 2 weeks out of it before going to my parents' house. In fact, I might have to take in down BEFORE Christmas (ie just before we leave), so that we don't return to the house to find a tree skeleton and needles all over the floor!

picnicbasketcase · 28/11/2011 14:28

Oh no, my beardy 70s tv presenter decorations have become public knowledge

flyingspaghettimonster - we leave all our cards/decs/tree up until 12th night - 5th Jan.

ours is also going up on the 10th - it's ds's birthday on the 7th so we always leave decorations until after that - but we're usually the last out of everyone we know to get stuff put up, so I think the 10th isn't too early at all Grin

Lambzig · 28/11/2011 14:29

It depends on whether its real or artificial. When I put a real one up I usually did it around the 20th so it was still lovely for new year. Now I have an artificial one for a couple of years now the DD is small, I am tempted by 10th - that said I have been obsessed with Christmas since October this year.

threeandcounting · 28/11/2011 14:30

First week in December here. Would be earlier if dp let me away with it....I love Christmas Grin

Kayano · 28/11/2011 14:31

I just helped my mother put her tree up

AWimbaWay · 28/11/2011 14:32

First weekend in December here too, we're visiting Father Christmas and putting decorations up this Sunday, sooo excited!

kreechergotstuckupthechimney · 28/11/2011 14:34

We've already seen nine now so you aren't early.
I am a christmas tree misery guts. Mine would be up on 24th and down on the 26th if I had my way.

JoandMax · 28/11/2011 14:37

Not early, that's when ours will be going up - it would be this weekend but we're away!

Clarabumps · 28/11/2011 14:38

mine goes up on the first and comes down on hogmany. Cannot face decorations going into the new year as i always feel a bit fed up after christmas is over..boo hoo! Plus with all the new toys junk the kids have it quickly goes from looking like christmassyness to just clutter.

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 28/11/2011 15:01

I always do it the weekend before Christmas. But you're fine as it is December and Advent started on Sunday so its defo acceptable.

valiumredhead · 28/11/2011 15:01

Mine's going up early this year as ds 10 is SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited and I am sick of him nagging me - it always comes down on NYD though!

WilsonFrickett · 28/11/2011 15:03

Ours is up, very early for me, but I had to order a new one (most of our stuff is in storage and I thought we'd be in new house by now) and when DS saw the package it was all 'can we put the tree up????'. So we did!
