To be considering buying something from Boden?

Ten years I've been a Mumsnetter, and I still haven't worked it out: is Boden OK, just naice expensive clothes, or are they somehow the badge of something shameful, and wearing them will brand me forever?

(And in any case, being a size 20/22, is there even any point trying to wear Boden?)

Dont do it.... I looked at their range of dresses, and I thought I had clicked back onto some retro page from 1973.

Bogeymanface · 03/11/2011 23:25

They are just clothes that are overpriced and meh imo.

Nowt special about them other than it advertises that you can afford them and some people think that makes you a bit special, others think it makes you a bit of a twat!

Buy them if you like them, buy something else if you dont, but dont waste another thought on what other people think!

worraliberty · 03/11/2011 23:27

OMG no

You'll be wearing white linen trousers next and covering your sofa in chintz patterns.

Run now...run for your life Grin

bethelbeth · 03/11/2011 23:28

Step awaaaaay from the Boden.....

I think I've seen a few things that are wearable. But on principle I think that they are a bit 'beige'.

Bogeymanface · 03/11/2011 23:31

I dont mind one person in Boden, as I said above, each to their own. Its the Boden family that sets my teeth on edge! Especially if the kids are in matchy matchy outfits but in alternate colours, such as boy in navy trews and orange t -shirt and girl in orange trews and navy top. I have seen that. IN REAL LIFE!

Whether it was actually Boden, I cant be sure, but they had Boden family written all over them! Daddy was wearing............chinos Shock

worraliberty · 03/11/2011 23:33

Bogey that reminds me of the 'Next' families round this way Grin

Bogeymanface · 03/11/2011 23:38

:o Worra!

But....are they Next Families or Next (sale) Families?

I discovered that there is quite a bit of snobbery about that around here! My friend knows someone who goes through the Next sale rails and gets rid of anything her DD has that had gone into the sale incase people thought that she has bought it from there! :o:o

Nevertooearlyforcake · 03/11/2011 23:41

just don't buy anything patterned, "sassy" or "fun". And don't start using the word "colourway" which seems to be particularly belovedly of Bodenites

TunaTiebacks · 03/11/2011 23:43

YABU. Boden is shockingly overpriced and far too 'yummy mummyish'. I can't help but judge people when I see them in something that's clearly boden. Wrong of me I know but honestly the few people I've known in real life that bought boden were all twats.

worraliberty · 03/11/2011 23:44

Hmmm I'm not sure now?!?

It was probably fake Next off the market Grin

Bogeymanface · 03/11/2011 23:55

Sorry, I sidetracked, its not the brand is it Worra? Its the look that makes you want to slap people :o

worraliberty · 03/11/2011 23:59

Yes and the fact you just know that when they go on a family day out, the Dad will wear a hat and brown sandals...and hold a 'trekking' map throughout the day Grin

Bogeymanface · 04/11/2011 00:00

and he will pretend that they are lost too often to be funny :o

Bogeymanface · 04/11/2011 00:00

which is once.

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 00:01

Until they really are lost and his wife will produce the mobile phone he refused to take with Grin

Bogeymanface · 04/11/2011 00:02

And they have a row all the way home, dont have sex (again) because she is on Boden.com and he is researching birkenstocks :o

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 00:02

So that's that then OP

If you want decent family days out and you value your sanity....stick with other high street brands Grin

QuintessentialShadow · 04/11/2011 00:03

Dont bother.

I bought a pj set, a wool jumper (well, wool blend) and a barbour style coat for dc. And a "beanie" for me. I was disappointed with the quality. It looks nice online and on paper, but I dont think they pictures of the actual clothes they are selling. It looks a lot better than it is in reality. Returned the wool jumper and the coat. Kept the pj because dc needed them, and the beanie because I have no other hat to keep my head warm. Really expensive also.

Bogeymanface · 04/11/2011 00:06

Worras right. Then you can go to theme parks instead of educational forestry centres, eat greggs for lunch washed down with fruit shoots and grab a bucket from KFC on the way home instead of organic hummus with crudite.
You will be much happier :o

QuintessentialShadow · 04/11/2011 00:08

Well I wouldnt be happier, just fatter, Bogey.... Grin

And with transfat flowing through my veins.

Bogeymanface · 04/11/2011 00:10

But you wouldnt be wearing Boden, so that does equal happier :o

The transfat thing is over rated anyway Wink, although I think I have just worked out why my baby weight isnt falling off.....:o

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 00:12

This makes perfect sense Bogey Grin

And with a 2 for 1 offer on Primarni....she can double the KFC order

QuintessentialShadow · 04/11/2011 00:12

No, I wont be wearing Boden. Only on my head, if it is very cold. And nobody would think that crap hat on my head with a dongle dingle is anything but Primarni anyway, so who cares.

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 00:14

There you go Quint that Gok person can eat his heart out (or a Gregg steak bake...whichever he prefers)

Bogeymanface · 04/11/2011 00:17

:o

OP solved. That was quick!
