To be considering buying something from Boden?

Ten years I've been a Mumsnetter, and I still haven't worked it out: is Boden OK, just naice expensive clothes, or are they somehow the badge of something shameful, and wearing them will brand me forever?

(And in any case, being a size 20/22, is there even any point trying to wear Boden?)

spiderpig8 · 04/11/2011 11:02

But if you do buy Boden , but only in the sale , can you still be working class, PLEEEASE?

TheScaryJessie · 04/11/2011 11:04

Are Boden to blame for 10 year old boys being dressed in old man flat caps?

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 04/11/2011 11:04

helen I have that skirt in the rose. And I had last years tweed mini. They are great, I wore it yesterday with opaques and knee high boots.

No pockets though, which is a PITA.

coraltoes · 04/11/2011 11:10

OH THE SHOES!!! I ventured onto the shoe bit. Oh my eyes. Oh my eyes!

heleninahandcart · 04/11/2011 11:12

I have a lot few. Blush

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 12:47

Having analysed the data Bogey asked for....

I conclude the OP is BO-curious

Get yourself an anonymous Twitter account and search for like minded people Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/11/2011 12:50

Drat... Worra's seen me here now. I should have name-changed for this thread. Confused

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 13:10

I refuse to believe you're a Boden wearer Lying Shock

In my mind, you simply woke up in a drunken haze...Boden clad and missing an eyebrow.

That is all.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/11/2011 13:15

That's it! That's what happened Worra, exactly like that, just as you said.... the bastards filled my whole wardrobe with it as well... Angry

BlushGrin[boden smiley]

coraltoes · 04/11/2011 13:15

Won't somebody think of the footwear?!?! :(

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 13:19

Oh we so need a Boden smiley Grin

And a couscous smiley for packed lunch/kid's party buffet threads.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/11/2011 13:22

... and a flashing blue light one for the thread politzei... Grin

coraltoes... I think of the footwear, I really do. I worry for it and wonder how it's getting on without me... and then it ends up in my wardrobe, safe from peril.

coraltoes · 04/11/2011 13:23

Worra,

I give you the couscous smiley

.

manyhatson · 04/11/2011 13:24

What a load of inverted snobs!!

OP, I love Boden. I buy mostly through the sales though as they're a bit above my budget usually. As with any clothing brand, you have to pick and choose what you get as some things are better quality than others. However, generally I find their clothes great quality and as stylish as you want them to be.

For the record, I wear my Yummy Mummy badge with pride. Sheesh!

worraliberty · 04/11/2011 13:25

It looks a bit small and miserable coral Grin

Boden wearers will naturally have God awful Crocs on their feet....

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/11/2011 13:26

I absolutely DO love my 'flutter tops'... I wish I'd spied them earlier and got one in 'ink'. Blush

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/11/2011 13:27

No Crocs here, Worra but ballet slippers abound... Wink

I don't know what I was thinking last year about duvet slippers though... feathers flew out with ever step.. Confused

grumplestilskin · 04/11/2011 13:29

the quality is cr@p and its all cut for tall people!

I was sucked in, bought about 6 things, 3 were returned, 2 looked tatty very quickly and sit in my wardrobe winking at me to make me feel guilty for spending so much, and one cardigan is actually functional and semi-smart looking!

wolfhound · 04/11/2011 13:29

I have just bought my first Boden order (cause I looked at the website and liked the clothes). That's it. :)

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 04/11/2011 13:31

I love a bit of Boden me, strictly codes and sales only.

Went for a walk last weekend and realised all four of us were wearing Boden shaggy lined zip throughs, the kids in mini boden, us in Johnnie B.

Oh how we laffed at our matchyness.

Couldn't give a rats arse what anyone thinks of my Boden wearing and cannot be a typical bodenite as have mahoosive tattoos.

Oakmaiden · 04/11/2011 13:39

Hm. I just looked at the Boden website - for the first time ever, as it happens. Scrolled through a few pages, and the clothes seem rather... well... ordinary??? Certainly nothing to get very excited about either way - I even noticed a cardigan that I wouldn't mind wearing.

Then I looked at the prices and fell off my chair in horror.

notso · 04/11/2011 13:43

I'm never sure if I like Boden or not.
DH hates it but he would like to see me in the Adidas Originals and levis of when we first met and frankly I'm just too fat to pull it off without looking butch.
I don't think I'm middle class enough for Boden, I don't have the pink cheeked freshness that sets off the hotch potch prints.
There are only two Boden mums at school and bother are much older and slimmer than me. Maybe in a few years when I've lost a few stone.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 04/11/2011 13:43

Grumplestiltskin.. I don't know how tall you are but I tend to buy the 'L' rather than 'R' dresses and I'm 5ft 6". They come to below my knee, sort of upper shin, which I like.

There's a dress I like on there at the moment, it's £99, which is steep so I'm holding out until Johnnie sends a voucher.

I agree that it's overpriced, I think it is - some of the clothes I've bought have been nice quality, others not so much. Saying that, I've bought t-shirts in Asda that just keep on going, so it's really quite arbitrary.
