To wonder what the govt has planned to punish those NOT on benefits?

News link

This is not the first time cutting benefits has been suggested as a punishment. How are the government proposing to punish parents who don't tackle truancy efficiently that aren't on benefits exactly? Just like the assertion that the rioters should lose benefits, yes because they were ALL on benefits weren't they? Hmm

Once again the government fuels the totally untrue daily mail esque belief that all of society's ills lie at the feet of benefits claimants. Apparently they are the root of all evil, eh? Hmm

Not one of the policies publicised has said what would happen to those who do not claim benefits.

Money designed for basic sustenance should not be removed imo. At the end of the day it is the children that will suffer from these measures.

She has always said her wealth is inherited. I think she is for real, she has always been very open about herself.

K999 · 11/09/2011 20:10

IMO most people I know who have inherited their wealth have always been compassionate and understanding of others. One friend I have always remarks that she knows how lucky she is and that it all could so easily have been very different. LOTM needs to get over herself and stop thinking that the world according to her is actually how it is for the vast majority of folk.

edam · 11/09/2011 21:28

Right, so apparently this poster who thinks anyone poorer than her is somehow displaying a moral failure has actually inherited her wealth? Doesn't that logically mean she's a scrounger - certainly didn't make all that money herself, did she?

edam · 11/09/2011 21:29

(Nowt wrong with people inheriting money - although there is a genuine debate to be had about taxation, distribution and unearned v. earned wealth - but something very wrong with people who have inherited money scorning those who haven't.)

madmomma · 12/09/2011 00:26

I would never put myself in a position where I needed to post on this thread.

SinicalSal · 12/09/2011 01:34

I didn't choose to be on benefits or have a child with SN, but I didn't realise there was another box I could've ticked.
'Inherit Wealth'

Well damn me for not spotting option c.

LadyoftheManor you don't seem very aware of your place in the world.

Why is that, dear [concern face]? A failure of education? bad parenting? Your own innate failure?

Life'll learn you, I'm sure. Nobody remains ignorant for 80 years.

fargate · 12/09/2011 02:59

Why are people reacting, responding, replying to lady of the manor ??

Why not just ignore her.

fargate · 12/09/2011 03:00

Full of shite, springs to mind.

Nibledbyducks · 12/09/2011 03:06

I believe the phrase is Don't feed the troll...

fargate · 12/09/2011 03:33

Yes, exactly.

So, why is it SO difficult to with-hold the 'attention' ?

I really don't understand.

begonyabampot · 12/09/2011 07:52

she is not a troll, she might exaggerate a few things but she is for real.

Moominsarescary · 12/09/2011 08:08

I would ignore her, what does a 25 year old who inherited her wealth now of poverty or financial struggles. She has no Experiance of it and at 25 not alot of life Experiance as she is cushioned by 'wealth'

Gincognito · 12/09/2011 08:33

Her posts are not exactly a shining example of christian values either, are they?

Compassion is seriously underrated.

Parents of kids with sn - please understand that most mn'ers are with you. Please don't let a few (admittedly vocal) disablist/compassion free posters chase you off. You (and your dc) are valued here.

GossipWitch · 12/09/2011 08:34

Omg is LOTM still banging on about how superior she is because she pays high tax rate! Geez so do half of my family ! really not bothered but I do find it comical that she is so up herself even though she inherited the money, I dont think that she'd be saying all this if the wealthy one hadn't have passed away, and she herself was having to work, with kids to deal with as well.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/09/2011 08:36

LOTM inherited her wealth therefore has never earnt her way in life.....makes her no better than the benefit scroungers she denigrates. And don't get me started on her claims of being a Christian... think she may fall into the " health and wealth theology " camp.

hobnobsaremyfave the difference is people who inherit money don't cost the tax payer unlike the scroungers

They have private health care
Have private education
More liken to have provision for when their old
Are are less liken to have dealings with the police
Or social services
Ergo cost us less all round

Oh and the more educated and finically able a women is the less children she has.

To be honest I don't care how some one gets their money as long and its Legal or not from me the tax payer

maypole1 · 12/09/2011 09:49

Moominsarescary and sadly some are cushioned by the state

crazynanna · 12/09/2011 09:51

But money received from the Tax payer is legal Confused

This thread is full on bonkers. I'm with Gincognito.

GossipWitch · 12/09/2011 10:30

again bashing those who claim benefits because they have to ... nice !

LRDTheFeministDragon · 12/09/2011 11:16

Just read this thread with my chin dropping further and further onto the floor.

What is this crap about being 'grateful'? Can anyone honestly say that if SN children and their parents didn't get state help, they would not feel ashamed to live in this country? What a disgusting attitude.

LRDTheFeministDragon · 12/09/2011 11:20

(Btw .... while we're on the subject of LOTM's qualifications ... or not ... riven, I think you're out of date. Most PhDs are between 22 and 27 unless they've done it after working for a while. You couldn't start at 21 unless you'd gone to university a year early. However, if LOTM is self-funding, perhaps she should have realized that many universities will take anyone on if they're rich enough to pay their way!).

I'm ashamed to say I'm doing a PhD if it's going to be used as a stupid excuse to pretend you're very clever about something you know bugger all about. Parents with SN children on this site have actually helped me with my work, so I think I know who're the knowledgeble ones!

onagar · 12/09/2011 11:28

Benefiting from tax money is morally the same whether you get benefits or use the NHS/schools, walk on pavements or enjoy the protection of the police/armed forces. You take from that common pot all the time without realising it. It's what societies are for.

Really there are only a handful of bitter and twisted people who think the poor and disabled should be treated badly and it's helpful when they out themselves on threads like this.
