Situation is, Have two ds (2.5 & 1.5). Dp and I were just using condoms up until i decided to go back on pill last month. I took one pill then as i started antibiotics and pill wouldnt work anyway i stopped taking it so oonly took one pill...a few days after a get a 'period' (breakthrough bleed - had only had real period a week previous). so my breakthrough bleed lasts about a week and for the next two weeks after this i have blacky/brown discharge every time i wipe but not enough for pad iykwim.

so yesterday ds1 announced at the dinner table that i have a baby in my belly which i thought was odd. This morning my boobs were sore and felt really bloated so did a test and it was bfp, bit faint but defo there. ive also just done a FR and it was also BFP.

BUT...do you think I am having a mis??im thinking maybe i have lost baby and that is why line is faint??? what do i do now, do i got to gp or ring maternity hosp???

Go to a&e, they will do a test and arrange a scan with your local EPAU but you may ahve to wait a few days

2BoysTooLoud · 23/08/2011 18:24

Do another test tomorrow and if positive go to the doctors?

Gonzo33 · 23/08/2011 18:26

I had exactly that at 5 wks and did not miscarry

mummymeister · 23/08/2011 18:26

do another test with a different make of kit. if positive go and see your gp if not wait a week and do another just to be sure. in my experience you don't get that many false positives!

MoominsAreScary · 23/08/2011 18:26

It would probably be quicker to phone maternity hospital, not sure if they would see you without a referal though

moaningminniewhingesagain · 23/08/2011 18:27

Implantation bleed I reckon

Sofabitch · 23/08/2011 18:28

Why on earth would ppl say go to A and E the Op has not said she is in any pain! No wonder the NHS is stretched to it's limits what a waste of time and money. I wouldn't even see your gp yet. Wait a week and see which way it goes. Unless you start mc you don't need a doctor yet!

proudfoot · 23/08/2011 18:34

Agree suggestion of A & E is ridiculous and OP yes YABU, as how are we supposed to know if you're pregnant. Good luck with it though.

MoominsAreScary · 23/08/2011 18:34

That's a very irresponsible thing to say, of course op should phone gp or maternity unit , she could get an infection or have some other complication. Not to mention the worry

I had implantation bleeding this time, it was only when I had a scan I found out I was further along than I thought

spookshowangel · 23/08/2011 18:34

antibotics do not affect the pill according to the nhs www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/843.aspx?CategoryID=60&SubCategoryID=178, i was told this when i had a pregnancy melt down recently. so if you are not dont make this mistake again and continue to take the pill if you dont want to get pregnant.

BoysRusxxx · 23/08/2011 18:35

i did use two different brands, first was internet cheapie, second was FR. Oh god, im nervous..

This just seems unreal. We didnt even have unprotected sex! Well, We started off unprotected and he put a hat on towards the end, just goes to show eh?

I have two more tests a FR and an IC so will do another in the morning and then go to gp. Is a mis not fresh blood though? Mine is brown/black although in saying that it was pinky last week when i was wiping but i dont think it was ever red (except when breakthrough bleeding)

Proudfoot, Im asking to see if anyone has been through this and not had a mis...obviously you cant tell me for certain if i am pregnant.

Is implantation belling not just a bit of spotting here and there, i didnt think it would last two weeks??

OP posts:
BoysRusxxx · 23/08/2011 18:36

spooks i actually read that only yesterday. It was too late and gp told me it would interfer.

BoysRus - I don't know if you are or not, but I'm excited for you! :) If it's too soon for you to have another - pass it over this way Grin there's nothing like a newborn baby cuddle.

figgygal · 23/08/2011 18:43

Why not just put in the appropriate place I.e pregnancy??

I understand a lot of things end up in AIBU cos there's less traffic on the other areas but that thread is as busy as this so sure u could have got responses there?

SouthernFriedTofu · 23/08/2011 18:46

was the cheapie left over from last dc? or did you just order it

maighdlin · 23/08/2011 18:46

what about a digital test? no room for interpretation with them.

TheOriginalFAB · 23/08/2011 18:50

There is a woman on here who is pregnant after her doctor told her antibiotics do not effect the pill. You need to be very careful if you don't want a baby.

I hope you get the result you want.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 23/08/2011 18:50

I dont get this obsession with doing six million tests!! You cannot get a false positive, if there is any shade of line, you are pregnant!! Grin

I have done three pregnancy tests in my life One the day after my period was due with DS, one when my period was late but I was BF, and one the day after my period was due this time!!

BoysRusxxx · 23/08/2011 18:59

Thanks chipping, im a teeny bit excited too. I dont want to be though as Im afraid I am miscarrying/have miscarried.

Southern, Sorry the test is the same kind as IC but i bought it in shop today, its just one of those strip ones. The other was FR.

Ill see if test is darker tomorrow morning. that way I will know HCG is going up.

This just feels mad!

Fiddly, good idea, ill pop it up there aswell.

I bled on ds2 at 8 weeks but it was just literally a wipe of it and it was gone.

Beyond limits - I applaud your self restraint.

I really hope it's not a MC :(

If you are a teeny bit excited too - then it's time to throw the pill & condoms out if you aren't pregnant now - life's too short to wait for the perfect time.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 23/08/2011 19:54

Chipping I'm just rather tight when it comes to the old £££ Grin

lubeybooby · 23/08/2011 21:21

It's not ridiculous to suggest a&e at all

The OP IS pregnant, she has had two positive tests. She is bleeding, I know from very sad experience that a&e will happily see anyone pregnant and bleeding, early or not - however all they will do is confirm pregnancy with a test and make arrangements for a scan with the EPAU. Hardly a stretch of any resources apart from the 10p the test will cost them and half an hour of a nurses time. Hmm

TrillianAstra · 23/08/2011 21:30

Yes YABU

go do an "Am I Pregnant?" thread in Conception or Pregnancy or Chat or even General Health if you think that you might be ill instead of pregnant.

Well you did ask.

BoysRusxxx · 23/08/2011 21:50

Thanks guys, The browning has now stopped so hopefully it is just from taking that pill. Im going to do a test in the morning and see if it is darker or not. either way I will go to GP.

Ahh so strange, cant believe (all going well) i will have two toddlers and a baby :)
