Tonight we travelled to Portsmouth to travel to France on holiday. When we got to the port we were told that our holiday had been cancelled by our provider SIBLU. We knew NOTHING of this. We had an emailfrom SIBLU YESTERDAY wishing us a pleasant holiday!!!!,
We are frantic and have 4 distressed children in tow. We have had to book into a hotel (v expensive) and are emailing and phoning but can't get hold of anyone this late in the day. No money has been refunded to us so how can they have cancelled our holiday.
ANy ideas.
may not be able to reply as wifi limited,

you could ask on twitter @sibluvacances = looks like someone tweeted less than an hour ago

squeakytoy · 19/08/2011 21:58

Can you contact the holiday site at all?

It seems odd that someone at the port would tell you this sort of information.

Mandyville · 19/08/2011 22:00

Their T&C include a payment of £75 for a cancellation while you are en route to your Siblu holiday. Which seems crap. Sorry you're in this awful position, OP.

ZillionChocolate · 19/08/2011 22:01

I've just searched for a geographic alternative in case you're ringing from a mobile and came up with 01442 293200 from www.saynoto0870.com/numbersearch.php.

squeakytoy · 19/08/2011 22:02

which site should you be going to, maybe we can find the direct number of it for you, and hopefully the manager there may be able to shed some light on this for you

festi · 19/08/2011 22:02

what hotel are you booked into, may be if you need to stay tomorow you would be better looking for a BnB in southsea, would be much cheaper

honeymom · 19/08/2011 22:03

Wow that's not good. I hope you can get it sorted. How very frustrating for you.

FabbyChic · 19/08/2011 22:06

B&B's in southsea are just as expensive as Hotels, however there is one that has a family room in the loft near Kings Road it's still £50 quid a night though but she makes breakfast.

I'm in Portsmouth. Southsea is expensive. The B&Bs are £45 to £60 a night for one room.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/08/2011 22:08

We have tried every siblu number, emailed everyone we can think of and rung the campsite repeatedly. i just am so gutted for my children. we have had nothing from siblu to say there was a problem. just an email yesterday wishing us a good trip

Ring your destination place i.e the hotel and ask if they have a booking for you.

FabbyChic · 19/08/2011 22:09

Did you pay via a card displaying the Visa Logo if so your money is protected if not by ABTA.

fifitrixibellesmith · 19/08/2011 22:10

what is the name of the campsite

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 19/08/2011 22:11

Who at the port told you it was cancelled? Where did they get the info?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/08/2011 22:12

Domaine de kerlann
its near pont aven in brittany

It seems weird that SIBLU were advertising their vacancies only a couple of hours ago.

Hopefully you will be able to contact someone in the morning who can get this sorted out and you can carry on with your journey.

Try not to panic or worry too much tonight. I am sure it will just be some massive error somewhere along the line.

There is a travel lodge in cosham which isn't fat but may be cheaper. Although I'm hoping you sort it tomorrow.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/08/2011 22:15

When we arrived to check in at the port we gave the woman in the brittany ferries booth our travel documents and passports and when she put ou data in the computer she said siblu had cancelled the booking

OP posts:
EuphemiaMcGonagall · 19/08/2011 22:15

Is this the number you have? 08719112221

ChippyMinton · 19/08/2011 22:15

Can you check with the ferry operator if it is just the ferry booking that has been cancelled?
Is it an overnight crossing with Brittany Ferries?

festi · 19/08/2011 22:16

I would say if you are booked in 2 £80 to £90 room at the gunwharf hotel then 2 rooms in a BnB would be considerably cheeper for 2 rooms at the express, if in deed thats where you are at.
