Tonight we travelled to Portsmouth to travel to France on holiday. When we got to the port we were told that our holiday had been cancelled by our provider SIBLU. We knew NOTHING of this. We had an emailfrom SIBLU YESTERDAY wishing us a pleasant holiday!!!!,
We are frantic and have 4 distressed children in tow. We have had to book into a hotel (v expensive) and are emailing and phoning but can't get hold of anyone this late in the day. No money has been refunded to us so how can they have cancelled our holiday.
ANy ideas.
may not be able to reply as wifi limited,

Right, so SIBLU may have just cancelled the ferry booking, for some bizarre reason. Sounds like it is just a huge error by someone, and its a shame that the port staff couldnt be more helpful in sorting it out, but I expect you will be able to get it sorted in the morning.

ChippyMinton · 19/08/2011 22:17

Sorry, x-posted.
I'd think that it's the ferry booking that's been cocked up and not the mobile.
Can Brittany put you on the ferry?

squeakytoy · 19/08/2011 22:18

Make sure you get receipts of all meals, hotel etc, as you should be able to claim this back, as this expense was not your error.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/08/2011 22:19

Payment made in june and confirmation received.

Hobnob, did the money leave your account? Can you double check it now through your bank?

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 22:21

What time is your ferry tomorrow?

festi · 19/08/2011 22:21

I would get Dh to ring the port or back in person if he can and discuss with a supervisor.

I would get a ferry tomorrow, pay for it if necessary, and sort it out later

FabbyChic · 19/08/2011 22:22

Don't stay in Gunwharf it's expensive, there is a small hotel down near the front where the fairground is. It's about £45 a night. Or you can get a suite in a hotel a bit further out for £60 a night. Nice place too near PC world.

ChippyMinton · 19/08/2011 22:24

If it helps, there are five crossings to either Caen or Cherbourg tomorrow. I assume you were sailing to St Malo tonight? If you can get on a ferry tomorrow, it will be a longer drive, but at least you will get there. I can post the times here if it helps?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/08/2011 22:25

FabbyChic · 19/08/2011 22:29

I hope it all works out for you tomorrow, please keep us updated, try to relax a little and get some sleep.

Oh dear, maybe a Brew

Just a thought re ferries. It's only 100 miles from Caen to St. Malo, which would take just under 2 hours according to the via michelin website. If you took a Caen crossing tomorrow morning you would still get to Pont Aven by tomorrow night, and not lose a day of your holiday?
