Tonight we travelled to Portsmouth to travel to France on holiday. When we got to the port we were told that our holiday had been cancelled by our provider SIBLU. We knew NOTHING of this. We had an emailfrom SIBLU YESTERDAY wishing us a pleasant holiday!!!!,
We are frantic and have 4 distressed children in tow. We have had to book into a hotel (v expensive) and are emailing and phoning but can't get hold of anyone this late in the day. No money has been refunded to us so how can they have cancelled our holiday.
ANy ideas.
may not be able to reply as wifi limited,

I know it prob feels like a disaster now but you will get it sorted and it will just be a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Relax, get some sleep and prepare to kick ass tommorow!

ChippyMinton · 19/08/2011 22:37

Oh, and you have my sympathies. We've done the Poole-Cherbourg overnighter a few times with a carload of DC, so I can imagine how gutted you must feel.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/08/2011 22:39

Thank you bimbo i keep telling myself that and then my mad anxious brain staarts racing again. im no good in a crisis it seems

Do you have travel insurance? Maybe even on your current account? Siblu should sort you out but if not travel insurance should be able to help in some way regarding retrospective reimbursement - they have out of hours helplines to advise.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 22:51

The thing is that you have paid for your holiday. You have the receipt and (I assume) the money has left your account. I'd still be happier if you called your bank and double checked that the money had left and hadn't left and bounced.

So, assuming you've paid, the company has made a mistake. They will be open at 8am which gives you plenty of time to get it sorted out. They will reimburse you for the hotel, don't worry.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 22:51

Did you pay on a card that has insurance on it?

FabbyChic · 19/08/2011 22:56

I live in Portsmouth in PO1.

tattychicken · 19/08/2011 22:59

Sounds like an absolute fucker, but if you're fine ( eg fake smile + jolly voice) then the kids will be fine and all ensuing (room at travelodge) will be an adventure. You're doing great! Wink
