To emigrate here from Netmums?

I'm running over here after a great many disappointing years on Netmums.

It's an over-moderated, under-imaginative and purile site where threads are deleted left right and centre because the OP (Or some other busybody) goes crying to the mods to have it removed.

Debate is definately NOT encouraged.

You must tow the line and accept a very rigid general view of parenting to be a Netmum. If I felt any more restricted I'd be in a straight jacket!

And excuse the FUCK out of me for needing to swear every now and then.

Oh yeah, feeling much better now!

OP posts:
MigratingCoconuts · 19/08/2011 12:41

I'm afaird I missed it because 'jack' began to irritate me too much. Shame, if it turned out to be really good. I'll look out for repeated if you think he was bearable watching!

MigratingCoconuts · 19/08/2011 12:42

butyoucant...what a great way to spent maternity leave Grin

unoriginalname · 19/08/2011 12:56

Heh I've been really disappointed by Torchwood! Just watching it out of loyalty now. No real plot each episode, just an excuse to showcase weird deaths/torture and a lot of running around.

OhdearNigel · 19/08/2011 12:57

Welcome Hun Wine

OhdearNigel · 19/08/2011 12:59

"Is there a spellcheck on this site?"

Yeah, it's called "the rest of us" Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 13:00

Yeah, another disappointed by Torchwood. Too formulaic and trying to hard to get British vs Yank terminology in. And had to fast forward over the gratuitous gay sex scene for my 13 yo! Blush

Looking forward to Doctor Who coming back, though.

unoriginalname · 19/08/2011 13:01

There is a firefox add-on that checks spellings. I use it but can't remember how I got hold of it! Doesn't sort my grammar though...

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 13:01

Too hard! Aargh!

minipie · 19/08/2011 13:22

Asm welcome. DH is fine. With just H for if he's done something spectacularly bad. Or "D"H or DHHmm if you're feeling a bit sarcastic about whether he actually is all that Dear.

Hubs, hubby not encouraged. Other half and OH have their detractors. And let's not get started on "manshape".

Asmodeus · 19/08/2011 15:55

Minipie Manshape?! People still say that?! It sounds like something my Mum would come out with to prove that she's still "with it!"

EllenJaneisnotmyname The Americanisation of T/W is a defiante bug bear- especially since the BBC have seen fit to air it Stateside first!! It's suck-uppery of the highest order! Still, I can't enough of the storyline. It's exactly my kind of thing.

I know it's not exactly Sci-Fi but has anyone been watching The Walking Dead? It's easily one of the best shows on TV at the moment.

unoriginalname I'll hunt out the FF add-on then, ta!

PinotsKittens · 19/08/2011 15:59

manshape is used by one poster to refer to her partner and out of respect for her husband who passed away. It gets right on my tits when it is constantly referrred to. So disrespectful.

OP welcome :) I hope you enjoy!

PinotsKittens · 19/08/2011 16:01

I'm watching Torchwood right this second - agree it's a bit rubbish this year. I still love Gwen though - she's so feisty!

BrainSurgeon · 19/08/2011 16:12

Welcome - and what a lovely welcome you're getting - slightly jealous, I'm relatively new but didn't get a nice thread to ease me in! Wink

PinotsKittens · 19/08/2011 16:15

Brain were you called BrianSurgeon first? Or am I confusing you with someone else or making it up entirely :o

Asmodeus · 19/08/2011 16:23

Yes Brain I'm feeling all cozy-warm right now. That'll be because I haven't had my first Flaming yet! I've heard to be on the receiving end of a good and proper flaming is to be a true Mumsnetter. I don't imagine it will take very long. I seem to piss people off with alarming regularity.

PinotsKittens · 19/08/2011 16:26

You need the following to become a full MNer -

To have posted the following words - cunt, fuck and cum.

To have been deleted by MN.

To have received a PM.

To get a ruddy good flaming.

MN is bloody great - full of funny, witty women all having a laugh. The support is amazing and the Mners are funny as feck. For the most part :o

MigratingCoconuts · 19/08/2011 16:31

and to right click on pinot's name to look at the cute kittens she found in her garden at Easter Grin

BrainSurgeon · 19/08/2011 16:35

I wasn't called Brian (you're making stuff up now) I was called TryingVeryHard. Daft name, didn't make me very popular! :)

nenevomito · 19/08/2011 16:36

Awww at the kittens.

Ewww at the bumsex.

PinotsKittens · 19/08/2011 17:36

In my defence, it was a weirdybeardy thread where bumsex (DVDA iirc) was topic du jour before the kittens were impaled on the thread like a weird mascot.

I'm a lady

cardibach · 19/08/2011 18:57

I like the sweariness of MN too (newish poster).
Liking sweariness seems to be getting mainstream - the Americans have written a musical for us:

It starts getting really sweary at 2 mins, and even uses 'cunt'! (Yay I've
written it on MN for first time).

Discalimer: it's not for you if you are even a little bit religious...

cardibach · 19/08/2011 18:57

Disclaimer, obviously .

ImNotYourFuckingHunni · 19/08/2011 19:33

Welcome & enjoy
