Why is it that most of my female friends on facebook are forever posting this on other people's statuses? It's so grating. AIBU to dislike this? It just seems so childish

One of my friends is forever posting little things like this on my wall...

A bit annoying, to say the least

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 18/05/2011 12:50

Yes, it's ostentatious caring, purely for showing off to others. Why not e-mail, text or phone? Why has it got to be displayed for public consumption? So needy. Hmm

KikkiK · 18/05/2011 12:52

YANBU. 'Hon' is annoying enough, but is at least (to me) correct, while 'hun' irritates me every time I see it.

WalterFlipschicks · 18/05/2011 12:52

agree with young woman, hun-ers should be shot, I despise the word! grrrrr!

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 12:52

don't like text speak at all.

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 12:53

why can't they just put "hope you're ok. xx" ? Confused

honeybehappy · 18/05/2011 12:53

I used to hate it aswell but now i think ah fuck it, is it really hurting anybody??? So YABU especially to start a thread about it.

Hope you have a good day hun :) xxx

inbetweener · 18/05/2011 13:01

I hate it too. I hate " hun " and I really really fucking hate people who put LOOL.
LOOL what the fuck does that even mean !!!!!!!!!

IE: Oh hun, your so funny lool....

WHAT ???????

DontCallMePeanut · 18/05/2011 13:03

I'm always tempted to reply to "lool" with "what's a lool?" Grin

GeneHuntsMistress · 18/05/2011 13:05

Everything I ever hear about Facebook validates my decision not to join the bloody thing. I think it's probably time for you to close your account profile or whatever it is, sounds like it irritates you too much (as it would me)

YANBU lol hun hugs

HaughtyChuckle · 18/05/2011 13:05

doeant bother me tbh

AngryGnome · 18/05/2011 13:06

I think the thing that grates is that it is so insincere. As LyingWitch said, if you really care whether or not someone is ok or not, give them a ring or a text, not just an incomprehensible insincerity empty message on FB.

Gwinkofchocolate · 18/05/2011 13:07

What is a lool?

ElectricSoftParade · 18/05/2011 13:07

I used to hate "Hun" but now the very sight of "wiv" makes my blood pressure shoot sky high! NO, I am NOT going to come wiv you ANYWHERE!

AngryGnome · 18/05/2011 13:08

I also have a particular irrational hatred of "Awww", as in "awwww, that is soooooo cute, LOL"

Grrrrr.

Highlander · 18/05/2011 13:08

hun. bubs.

sets my teeth on edge.

BarbaraBar · 18/05/2011 13:08

lool??

what on earth is that?

JimmyChooChoo · 18/05/2011 13:08

I've noticed most people on here hate hun.It grates on me too(although I have to admit I have used itShockBlush).

Just wondered though if you're texting/facebook messaging a friend what do you call them?

I find to call them by their Christian name very formal but 'hun' is so grating iyswim.

thelittlefriend · 18/05/2011 13:08

I find that status' that prompt those kind of replies more annoying. It's usually something along the lines of "oh I'm having such a bad day" which makes some annoying friend of theirs post "hope your ok hun x". Why do people post that they are having a bad day with out putting any details - is it just so loads of people ask if they're ok so they feel loved?????

HaughtyChuckle · 18/05/2011 13:11

"hope your ok hun x". Why do people post that they are having a bad day with out putting any details - is it just so loads of people ask if they're ok so they feel loved?????

as much as I find it attention seeking also most of these people it may be the only kind/caring interaction they get all day so I try not to judge.

AngryGnome · 18/05/2011 13:13

thelittlefriend - I have a friend who ALWAYS does this! It's so irritating! First couple of times I called her to see what had happened. 1st time, M&S had no prawn sandwiches left. 2nd time - actually I can't remember because it was so trivial. Now I never bother to investigate further.

Emo76 · 18/05/2011 13:13

"post THIS on your status if you love your kids/care about others/think we should highlight this issue - I've done it...will you?"

blood pressure rises.....

HumperdinkFangboner · 18/05/2011 13:13

"Just wondered though if you're texting/facebook messaging a friend what do you call them?"

I reply to hun with mate but I call my best friends "dude", it's probably more annoying than hun and I have no idea why I started doing it Blush

valiumredhead · 18/05/2011 13:13

OP you sound a bit tetchy, hoe you are ok hun? x
