Why is it that most of my female friends on facebook are forever posting this on other people's statuses? It's so grating. AIBU to dislike this? It just seems so childish

I think they mean it to convey endearment so why not take it that way?

What does the "o" even mean when someone says "xoxoxoxoxoxoxox"?

Genuine question.

Oh, can we have a late entry from 'gawjus' When the hell did that happen and WHY?????

I have a few ex students as fb friends (now fully fledged adults) and the temptation to rewrite their status and mark them out of 10 is consuming me Grin

I'm not sure which I hate more- the "hope u r ok hunny" or the attention seeking, self-pitying, semi-cryptic, yet TMI status update that usually precedes it, such as

" I thought I knew who my friends were. I guess I was wrong"

These are usually posted at 1am on a Sunday morning, clearly after some drunken barney with best mate.

I have to laugh at people making disparaging remarks about facebook when they spend half their lives on mumsnet!

I use fb for genuine social networking - I'm an admin for a sports club page and have made loads of other contacts withing the sport. But I have to say that if someone starts updating their status 7 times a day to tell me such snippets as how many shirts they need to iron then they get hidden or deleted pretty quickly!

No one has called me 'hun' so far, though I have a colleague who does so.
